Really wish they would use this again!
This part appeared in just one set in 2017, the 60161 Jungle Exploration Site, and not even as part of a complete plane - just a wreck. The set could have had the parts of the complete plane scattered around as a play feature, but it didn't. So disappointing. I keep waiting for this part to reappear as the nose of a City space shuttle or vintage trimotor, but it hasn't been used since. To me, it's one of the more baffling choices made by Lego in the past several years.
Looks like a cool customizable plane front. Surely it should have found some more use than just one set!
So, @Huw , did yesterday's RPotD get eaten by the DST changeover? More on-topic, add my name to the list of people who'd love so see this piece see more uses. As @iwybs said, it'd be great for a vintage trimotor (hint, hint, Indiana Jones set designers), which is an airplane type I've always found interesting. In fact, I have to wonder if they intended more uses for it that never actually materialized, as they didn't need a new mold just to do a plane crash site.
Also seems quite a suitable shape for a Train.
Paint it red and it's almost like a giant Tahu mask.
Agree with others, a great piece yet really strange Lego designed a whole new 2 pieces (this and the underside to go with it), yet never used it again.
I used it for a trimotor plane which is cool (although the lack of a windscreen piece is annoying).
An Indiana Jones Ford trimotor would be a great set and use of this piece.
at first I thought it was a space marine helmet faceplate
Looks like a prime example of Parts Out of Other Parts to me...
Got the set this part came in for a song, and ended up selling a different but smaller set to the same seller for 3x what I paid for it...so almost got this piece for free.
@iwybs:
Strictly in terms of that set, it makes sense because it’s easier to hammer home that it’s a plane wreck when you don’t have to build out one of the wings enough to mount a bulky motor on. In terms of their recent push to make new parts more universally usable, it makes you wonder if there were plans to run with the design that never materialized.
@TheOtherMike:
That’s a definite possibility if, during the schedule shuffle to incorporate RMotD, the time got set to precisely 1:00am, which doesn’t actually happen during the spring time change. I think the solution the last time this came up was to set the trigger times to 12:59am and 2:01am, so spring doesn’t skip something, and autumn doesn’t double post.

A Tahurain!
Man that is ugly.
Really weird that such specific and big part was used in a single set and never returned. That's something that would be common in the 90s or early 2000s but not nowadays.
You’re all over here seeing planes and trains but to me that’s absolutely Vakama Hordika
Hmm...kinda' thinking "Space Shuttle" when I see this; which make me kinda sad...:((As in: we should of had a replacement by now, VentureStar, Big Star...something...)
I have the set this is from, and thought it was a shame it didn't come with any 'glass'. Now I have found out it only comes in this set, truly baffling. Is there an existing trans piece that can fit in this part, or did Lego's 2004 design philosphy accidentally time jump to 2017?

Yes
RIP my comments on yesterday's article.

What part was featured again?
@Binnekamp:
March 25 got a 2-day run. You commented on it twice.
Bane plane Bane plane Bane plane Bane plane
And here I thought it was yesterday's RSOTD that got the shaft! But nope, it's this one--3.2 shaft, anyway.
