News round-up

Here are a few news stories I've been emailed about over Christmas:

Outer Rim Trading Co. has launched its third annual awards for the best theme and product of the year. Head on over to their website to cast your vote.

When kempo81 reviewed 42022 Hot Rod earlier this month, he mentioned that an app that provides digital building instructions was to be made available. It's now in the Apple AppStore and osuharding1 has made a video review of it on YouTube.

The Philly Brick Fest team has launched a contest to design the cover of their official event program. The winning entry will receive a 100.00 USD LEGO Gift Card. TheBrickFan has published the rules.

EB Games in Australia is giving an exclusive Emmet minifigure with pre-orders of The LEGO Movie game. No word if this offer will be available in other countries yet, but I suspect it will be.

Mike Doyle, author of Beautiful LEGO, is working on a new book and has launched a call for submissions. Find out more on his website.

Finally, The Eiffel Tower and NASA Mars Curiosity Rover can now be ordered from shop.LEGO.com in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. See the What's new page.

Thanks to everyone for keeping us up-to-date.

Thanks for the updates Huw.
I won't be getting the EB Games exclusive after I was disappointed about the Lego Marvel Superheroes pre-order process

By in Canada,

The Digital building instructions don't really seem all the useful as all your really doing is going through each step and seeing an animation of it being put together. Might be useful/fun for kids.

By in Australia,

I adored "Beautiful Lego", but I'm not too sure about the 'dark' theme. And I thought it was interesting that he doesn't like minifigs. I mean, I know they're not exact representations of actual people, but still. They're such an iconic part of the genre, you know?

They don't have The tower of Orthanc in the voting thing for Lord of the Rings! This is an outrage! It's in the 2013 lineup and It's the best one too!
