Cuusoo switches to tri-annual review and promises results in "about four months"

Posted by ,

Cuusoo recently updated its guidelines for project submission but now they appear to be updating their review policies as well.

In their most recent blog post, Cuusoo has indicated that they will be switching to three four-monthly reviews annually, with the next one closing out at 12:00 a.m. GMT on May 5th.

The posting claims that "this shift aligns the review schedule with the rest of the LEGO Group’s internal processes in a way that allows us to release results more regularly."

As part of this change, Cuusoo is also committing to a timeline for results on reviews stating: "This means instead of waiting up to nine months for review results like in the past, you’ll see results approximately four months after a review period begins."

Additionally, the posting also cites that we should expect the results of the Fall 2013 review in "the next several weeks."

I wish they'd just switch to reviewing the projects as soon as they reach 10,000. There is often quite some time after one project reaches the quota to another project reaching the quota. That way, if there's some reason that project can't be made, Lego can say that as soon as possible, instead of waiting for several months at a time to say so.

^I imagine keeping the whole process together has a lot of benefits, but I agree that some parts of the process could happen straight away, like checks to make sure the project isn't automatically counted out on policy grounds.

Ghostbusters or Zelda would be awesome!

At least the time is more flexible for reviews results.

Ghostbusters with the four minifigs, Slimer and Ecto One. I'd put money on it.

Hopefully review results can come out way fast because of this!

Now to just get people to support my boardgame, and all would be right with the world.

It was shortly after you reach 10,000 votes. Then it was 4 times a year, now 3.

By the end of the year maybe 2? Then next year only once a year? Then maybe after that LEGO will admit the whole process is ^&%$ed and they will finally let it die.

the 4 month turn around would suit ghostbusters and SDCC seeing as it is the 30th Anniversary and merchendise will be wild there

I think they once indicated that they release the results in blocks in order to not have any impact on discussions with third parties regarding licensed sets. The outcome of one licensed set can effect how another potential partner responds. Etc. it makes sense. I think they do begin the basic short internal "business fit" review as soon as it hits 10k. Or at least as soon as someone is free to start it. It's the longer more structured review that follows the start calender. (Assuming it wasn't flagged for business fit.)
