The LEGO Movie polybags

Posted by ,

With general release of The LEGO Movie this weekend, in the UK at least, it would seem like an opportune time to take a look at the three TLM polybags now available: 30280 The Piece of Resistance, 30281 Micro Manager Battle and 30282 Super Secret Police Enforcer.

30280 The Piece of Resistance

This set is currently free with qualifying purchases at LEGOshop.com, until the end of the month. It consists of Emmet in his work overalls and a lump of rock. As seems to be the case with all recent sets featuring 'workmen', it comes with a red mug which must surely teach children that all people do when at work, is sit or stand around drinking cups of tea :-)

The rock is fairly substantial and contains a mechanism for...

...exposing the 'Piece of Resistance', the 1x2x2 brick with a hole in the side that Emmet wears on his back for reasons that no doubt become apparent once you've seen the movie.

The rock contains a nice selection of grey slopes in just about every available angle.

30281 Micro Manager Battle

I'm not sure where this one is available but do know it is on the streets somewhere as photos of the set have appeared in the forum. (In case you're wondering, the LEGO CEE team sent them to me).

It consists of Wyldstyle with her nice hoodie neck-attachment and brandishing nunchucks (how times have changed... scenes with them in, used to be cut out of TMNT cartoons in the UK) and a small Micro Manager.

The MM is very well constructed and a perfect illustration of the potential of the new brackets which provide studs on all four sides of the MM's perfectly square body

30282 Super Secret Police Enforcer

This one is available from Toys R Us in the USA for a few dollars. The robot policeman is probably available in other sets, I don't have them all to check. Nevertheless it's a nice figure and one that it's fine to have multiples of given its genericity.

The police-space-ship-thingy is an interesting build and looks great.

There's not really much more to say about these small sets other than they are all interesting and collectable. My favourite would be Micro Manager Battle given it has the cool hoodie piece in it and a great looking Micro Manager. Grab them if you can...

^ I've just scanned my polybag, I like to have scans of the bags for polys, it proves to collectors that they are indeed polys :-)

Great review. How did you ever find the time to do these lol love to keep busy hey Huw.? Wish we got polys here in oz. Such a rare commodity here, and if you can get them you're looking at $16 each... Unless you. BL them. but postage kills it...

I got a post card in the mail from toys r us saying super secret police enforcer was free with purchase. Went to my local store and they said only some stores were taking part in it, and they were not. I wish Lego would stop with store a gets this set and store b gets that set.

Is there something printed on Wildstyle's nunchucks or is it a reflection?

For selfish reasons, I'm hoping that 30282 Super Secret Police Enforcer sees a general release in the UK - perhaps as part of a Daily Mail giveaway - as I can see a great deal of MOC use for that particular robot head (as opposed to the visor/mouth, visor/no mouth, or "modified" Sheriff Not-A-Robot, Calamity Drone, Wiley Fusebot, Executron, and Velma Staplebot versions), and it otherwise only shows up in some of the more expensive sets. While I'm wishing, then, I also hope the DJ robot poly becomes widely available for the same reason!

I just made a special trip to our local TRU for the Police Enforcer, and they didn't have it in stock. They're pretty unhelpful, so I didn't bother asking about it. I really want that one, though; it's really cool looking.

These all look great to me, particularly 30282. Thanks for the review Huw!

Hey guys...I picked up the Lego Video Game this morning in Canada and was given a promotional polybag that I dont see listed yet on the site. Western Emmet is the name of it.
I can give pics as well if needed. Where can I send these?

I will probably get the Piece of Resistance just because I will most likely end up spending $50 at the store. I will also most likely get the Police set because I would like to build up a robot police army.
