BrickList: Classic Castle - the third cycle
Classic Castle - the third cycle
Classic Castle theme (as opposed to the town subtheme before 1984) was launched with 8 sets in 1984 - see http://brickset.com/bricklists/?75 and was expanded in the first cycle - see http://brickset.com/bricklists/?156 . This cycle was defined by the Gold Lions vs the Black Falcons
1988 marked the start of the second cycle - see http://brickset.com/brickLists/?170 - and continued until about 1991. This cycle was defined by the Forestmen and the Black Knights, but the Gold Lions and the Black Falcons sets were still being produced in this cycle.
The third cycle began in 1992, and unlike the previous two cycles, only lasted for 3 years. The cycle was dominated by the Dragon Masters and had the Wolfpack as the enemies. The Black Falcons and the Forestmen were not included in this cycle, but the Black Knights and the Gold Lions did make a appear briefly in the first year of the cycle.

1. 6085: Black Monarch's Castle
This huge big castle was literally a case of save the best for last. The Black knights were going out in this cycle and this castle was probably added to the 1992 release to ensure that it got to the market.

7. 6075: Wolfpack Tower
1991 also introduced us to the Wolfpack, and the smaller (medium) size of their main base (this set) would also be an indication of the small size of the subtheme (only 5 sets total had wolfpack figures), with only 3 (including 6085) released in 1992.
