For those of you looking to collect all the Star Wars polybag sets, the Umbarran MHC has been spotted in Ottawa, Canada at Chapters. It was priced at $4.95 Canadian.

UPDATE: It appears that if you spend $30 on regular priced LEGO products at Chapters, you also get one of these (or a different polybag free.

Series 9 minifigures starting to appear across Canada

For most of the community, this is old news, however for us Canadians, series 9 minifigures are just starting to appear in stores.
I was able to pick up a case at my local Toys R Us here in Western Canada. Have you found them in your local Canadian stores? Please let us all know if you have spotted them as well.
It's a great set of figures but as stated before, I was only able to get two complete sets from a case, which is a disappointment.

The two 50%-off sets are 7962, Podracers and 7879, Hoth Echo Base. Here is the flyer.

lego.ca has this priced currently at $350.00.
Seems like a great deal for a set that tends not to go on sale. I believe they ship throughout North America for those of you without this wholesale store near you.
UPDATE: It appears their products are " re-certified " models, I do however find this hard to believe.

NOTE: I just made an attempt to order a Striker Class Starfighter but the web site says it is unavailable even though the sale states it is valid until the 17th. I was able to purchase a Tie Fighter however.

The Lord of the Rings polybag set 30211 "Uruk Hai with Ballista" will soon be available in Toys R Us in Canada! Our Brickset source Bonzai informed us that we should be seeing them as soon as Dec. 7th for $4.99.
Sadly for me, this news comes about a week to late as I just paid big bucks on eBay for them :-(

EB Games Canada Reneges on Exclusive Elrond Figure

After the limited recall of LEGO Lord of the Rings Xbox game at my EB games store, and my inability to get my Elrond polybag on time, I thought things couldn't get any worse, but I was wrong.
It now appears after waiting for the game to be in stock, my local EB games is claiming they never got any Elrond figures and pre-order or not, they cannot provide me with an Elrond polybag. They even had the nerve to state that it was never part of the pre-order, and I had mistaken the offer for un-lockable content instead.
Have you struck this at your EB? if so, I would highly recommend Canadian users to no longer pre-order at EB if hoping to get any exclusive LEGO deal.
A different but similar story was published at the Buried in Bricks site.
UPDATE: Many apologies to those that feel this post is an attack against EB Games, it was never intended as such. From my perspective this is shopping news that affects all Canadian Lego shoppers. I have since confirmed with EB USA that the poly bags were supplied at limited quantities, pre-order does not guarantee you a poly, first come first served. They however were ready and willing to ship me an Elrond from the USA for my trouble ( did not accept). EB Canada has informed me that Elrond was never part of their offer, even though local staff had assured this, they also offered me a figure (did not accept). In summary perhaps i fell pray to a marketing web glitch, uninformed staff, or just a bad experience, I will be avoiding pre-orders from now on.
I am very sorry to all those that feel this was inappropriately posted.

Worthy Note When Shopping for LEGO for Christmas in Canada

We all know that Toys R Us tend to mark-up their LEGO a bit higher than MSRP. We also know that Walmart Canada tend to sell their LEGO just a bit below MSRP. This bit however, seems a little bigger and is worth noting again when shopping for Christmas.
I could not believe the discrepancy between prices when I looked up The Mines of Moria (9473) at these three locations; I was shocked.
Walmart Canada $84.88 << shop.lego.ca $99.99 << Toys R Us, Canada $109.99
As much as I don't like supporting Walmart (unfair wages, etc.), the price difference between some sets is ridiculous.
If Walmart continues this trend with other sets, I don't think any of us can afford not to shop there.

Lego Lord of The Rings Video Game Release Stalled For XBOX Canada/USA

I went into EB games yesterday to get my Xbox 360 version of LEGO Lord of the Rings and the exclusive Elrond minifigure.
I was VERY disappointed to find Warner Bros accidently packaged DEMO versions of the game instead of the full versions pushing the release date back further. If you picked up your game in the last few days, you had better check if you have the full version as this demo issue has affected many. This press release was aimed at the US but it has affected Canada as well.
UPDATE: It appears the press release states that the games were indeed the full versions, just labeled incorrectly. This however is NOT what I was told at EB games, and demo or not, they wouldn't even sell me a game because of the issue.

Interactive Entertainment is recalling a small number of "LEGO The Lord of the Rings" video games that were released for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft to Walmart, Target and Toys 'R' Us in the United States with a disc labeling error. The discs in question are incorrectly labeled as demo discs, but those discs do contain the full game content and are fully functional. This error does not affect any other formats of the game. We are in the process of remanufacturing the discs and will get them to the stores as soon as possible. Happening October 13 and 14, Toys R Us is calling it their Trade In Weekend.
I'm not sure of what Toys R Us will have for trading at the start of the weekend, but it is an interesting concept. I am also unsure if it is restricted only to the collectable Minifigure series (Series 8?), but it's worth checking out if you have an army of doubles. Read the details on their website.
Also: Exclusive Darth Maul is available starting October 12 with a minimum purchase of $35 on Star Wars LEGO.

A 38% savings from the original $120 price tag.
Most Walmarts however can clearance different LEGO sets at the store manager's discretion. I have found that they will price match each other if you can give some proof from another store.

Collectable Minifigure Series 7 Spotted in Canada

It appears there has been an early sighting of Series 7 in Calgary Alberta at a store called Discovery Hut.
As per usual, Canada usually lags behind the rest of the world on such releases but this is hopeful.

I Just noticed that Walmart has the most fantastic sale on two Pirates of the Caribbean sets.
Both "The Mill" and "Cannibal Escape" are now 15 dollars each here in Canada. Brickset user Multani from the UK noted that he bought them as well for $16 each. Cannibal Escape sells regularly at lego.ca for 39.99. The Mill sells regularly at lego.ca for 49.99; this being the better offer by piece count. Let's hope to see more prices like these.

Super Store Canada

It appears that Super Store is in its last round of clearance LEGO. Most prices have gone down substantially and for that reason have been picked over pretty well.
Sales have been anywhere from 50-75% off certain sets. This has been a gradual trend since January.
Some less desirable sets are still available and a great way to grab spare parts for a good price.

Lego At Home Sense

As I got dragged into Home Sense (with locations across Canada), I was pleasantly surprised to find a small selection of LEGO in their kids' section; some of which has recently gone on clearance.
I just picked up a City of Atlantis set for $44 on sale. Great pieces to go with the roman minifig from series 6.
Another set to note on "double clearance" was 7326 Rise of the Sphinx (which I believe is regularly 64.99) on sale for around 35.
I found a new appreciation for Home Sense that day!

Canada seems to be left until last in most cases (cases of mini figs that is), so I am not surprised not seeing them on the shelves yet.
That being said, three Brickset users have spotted them in Canada already:
2 people have found them at Mastermind Toys in Toronto (Canada), and London Ontario (Canada).
1 person has spotted them in Walmart in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada.
Someone has started a Roll Out Map on Google maps for series 6 so please add to it as you see them pop up in Canada.

Real Canadian Super Store LEGO Marked Down

Super Store appears to be clearing some of their christmas stock with some decent deals. Be careful though as I have found some of the "regular" prices on their sale signs to be inflated thus tricking consumers into thinking it's a better deal than it really is.

London Drugs Sale

It appears London Drugs has a number of sets marked down. One to note is the Sith Infiltrator (7961) marked down from 89.99 to $60.00.
A few of the other Star Wars sets were also marked down so its worth checking out.

It appears General Grievous' Starfighter has been spotted in Costco here in Canada for an affordable $29.99 CAN.
Compared to the $69.99 price tag at lego.ca this is a great deal.
There will be another chance to obtain Grievous in an upcoming 2012 starwars set (9515) if you are not able to get the Starfighter.

It appears that Toys R Us will be offering a 50% off sale on Kingdoms, Atlantis and the Pharaohs Quest themes for Boxing week starting Dec 27th.
The ad was a bit blurry but I would suspect there will be some sort of catch. There is a star in the ad which usually means some sets are excluded. It seems a bit too good to be true but that's for you to find out!

Walmart has just posted its Boxing Day Flyer advertising 30% off a wide selection of LEGO from Pirates of the Caribbean through to Harry Potter sets. So if you didn't get what you wanted for Christmas, perhaps this would be a good place to start.

Costco Lowers Price of Battle of Naboo to $19.97

Costco has just lowered the price of LEGO Battle Of Naboo 7929 by $5 at my local Costco.
Now priced at 19.97 CAN, these sets won't last long.

Looks like Canada is about to get its fourth LEGO store, this time in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The 'Jobs at LEGO' website has just posted a vacancy for the job of 'Store Manager' in Vancouver, which is usual for the first official announcement of a new store.

It appears that Toys R Us has added the Atlantis Exporation HQ to their weekly 1/2 price holiday specials.
Brickset user RichardR has kindly notified us that Toys R Us will be selling this set for $34.97 Can compared to the US regular price of 49.99 from shop.lego.com.

Thanks to Brickset user KillDeer it appears Costco has just recently stocked up on LEGO Battle Of Naboo 7929.
Priced at $25.99 CAN, this set is almost at par with USA prices of $24.99 US.
Great set for some more droids. Lets hope Canadian prices continue to mirror the US a bit more.

Toys R Us, Canada, is having a 1/2 price sale starting Friday November 25 through Thursday December 1st on the Snow Trooper Battle Pack (8083) and the Rebel Trooper Battle Pack (8084). At $7.47 each, it's an easy buy for anyone building a hoth MOC.

Winners Retail Store Worth Checking Out

I just visited my local Winners store yesterday and found they actually had some decent LEGO sets for their usual 30-50% off. It's worth checking out if you have a Winners store nearby.
My local store (Kelowna, BC, Canada) had The Prison Tower Rescue set for $39.99 (7947), compared to its original $69.99 value on LEGO.CA.
If you're a Castle builder in Canada, this may a great way to stock up on some of the great elements in this particular set.
I did see some Games, Heros and world racer sets as well.

Since Christmas is nearing, a few sales to note:
London Drugs has a 20% off sale on all LEGO running until January 31st 2012. Toys R Us does have comparable sales on with their popular buy one get one 1/2 off sales on selected themes (25% off). Until Nov. 17, those themes will be Alien Conquest and Pharaoh's Quest.
I am sure Toys R US will have similar sales in the weeks to follow but with different themes. The disadvantage of these sales compared to London Drugs is the fact that you must buy two identically priced sets to get the full 25% off value, and they both must fall in the selected theme.

Costco has added Alien Conquest set Jet-Copter Encounter to its stock for Christmas.
Priced at $35.99 compared to $49.99 at shop.LEGO.com, it might be a set to pick up if you're a fan of the Space theme.

The LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia (b11sw02-1) is now available in Costco for a very reasonable price.
Priced at a regular $20.99 Canadian in other locations like London Drugs, the Character Encyclopedia is only $11.39 Can at Costco.
At this price it is well worth buying the book for the exclusive Han Solo minifigure alone.

It appears that Costco has started stocking its Christmas toys. HEROICA Waldurk Forest is selling for $14.97 CAN compared to the $26.99 CAN price listed at shop.lego.com. Not a bad discount for the Canadian LEGO market!
If you like playing the games and want to stock up on the new medieval weapons, it's not a bad set to get. I am sure more sets will pop up as Christmas approaches.

Another Canadian Store ... and it's in Toronto too

It's bound to cause more gnashing of teeth and complaints (the news of a new store always does this from those who don't live nearby... please, let it go...), but I'm happy to report that Canada is getting another LEGO Brand Retail store. This one is also in Toronto, at Fairview Mall, about 35km/22 miles (as the car drives) from the existing Toronto store at Sherway Gardens.

LEGO Brand Retail is Coming to Toronto

There have been rumours flying around for a couple of months, but we now have confirmation that LEGO are opening a bricks-and-mortar store in Toronto, their 2nd store in Canada. No news on the opening date, but based on previous store openings, it will likely be around June 2011.

Chris 'powerpig' McVeigh has emailed & posted to tell us that the Series 2 collectable minifigs have started appearing in Canadian WalMart stores for Can$2.86 each.
Chris reports that he's taken full advantage of the availability already, so I'm looking forward to seeing the Series 2 figs pop up in his Flickrstream very soon :-)
