Shop.LEGO.com offers for May
Posted by Huw, 02 Apr 2013 04:46. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).

April's shop.LEGO.com offers are a bit lack-lustre, aren't they, but thankfully that's not the case for May. As reported last week, the May the forth offer will be Han Solo in Hoth garb, and he'll be free with purchases of Star Wars items over £75 (or £50 I suspect). Then later in the month, set 30167-1 Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone is free with purchases over $50.
Thanks to Michael B for the news and image.

New year at shop.LEGO.com
Posted by Huw, 01 Jan 2013 04:35. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
New products have been added to shop.LEGO.com in the UK, including Horizon Express, City, Creator, Super Heroes, Ninjago, Technic and Star Wars. However, notable by their absence are Galaxy Squad, TMNT and the Star Wars Planets. It looks as if we'll have to wait a few more months for them, in the UK at least, although bizarrely the latter are on the shelves in other other European countries already, as you can read below.
Click on the banner at the top of the page to get shopping and claim your free LoC polybag and free shipping (on orders over £50).

January shop.LEGO.com offers
Posted by Huw, 31 Dec 2012 04:17. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
Spend £50 (UK) or $75 (USA/Canada) at shop.LEGO.com from now until the end of January, and you'll receive a free 30250 Legends of Chima Ewar's Acro Fighter polybag. In the UK, there's free shipping until 14 January on orders over £50 too. Click on the banner at the top of the page to get shopping.
For some reason best known to LEGO, the only 2013 sets available at shop.LEGO.com in the UK at the moment are LoC and Friends, and it's the same in the brand stores too.
I received the paper S@H catalogue a few days ago, which claims that other 2013 sets will be 'available for purchase on 1st January', so hopefully they'll be added overnight. Interestingly, the paper catalogue does not contain TMNT or Galaxy Squad. I hope that's because of a lack of space and not because they won't be available yet.
Grogall has uncovered an online copy of the Italian consumer catalogue which is interesting to see. It doesn't contain TMNT either, and Galaxy Squad is shown as being available in March. It does however show the new architecture set Imperial Hotel and series 2 of the Friends polybags.
addictedtostyrene tells me that "Myer in Brisbane Australia have 2013 Ninjago, Hobbit sets ... as well as CMF series 9" so it looks as if the UK is the last place to be able to buy the new Ninjago sets :-(
I guess we'll have to see what happens overnight tonight...

Sale now on at shop.LEGO.com
Posted by Huw, 26 Dec 2012 04:04. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The sale has now started and there are quite a few decent offers to be had. In the USA and Canada, a lot of inventory has been reduced by 20%. The reductions in the UK don't look quite as compelling, but you might find something of interest.Visit the 'Sales and Deals' page at shop (UK | USA | Canada) or use our Quick Shopper, which is easier to use and easier to filter out all the 'tat' (UK, US and Canada data feeds haven't been updated yet).

It's Brick Friday!
Posted by Huw, 23 Nov 2012 03:47. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
Today is 'Black Friday' in the US, which means nothing to anyone outside of north America, but it's a good excuse for LEGO to give us some decent 'Brick Friday' offers over the weekend.
In the UK:
- 10% off all orders of £100 or more
- Free Limited Edition Christmas set (3300014) with orders of £50 or more.
- FREE Delivery on all orders of £25 or more.
In the USA and Canada:
- 10% off all orders of $149 or more
- Free Limited Edition Holiday set (3300014) with orders of $99 or more.
- FREE Shipping on all orders of $49 or more.
There are also some 'Sales and Deals' running over the weekend on both sides of the Atlantic, with 20% discounts on some items, mostly 'Gear'. Nothing to get too excited about, but you'll find a link to all the reduced items on the landing page when you click on the banner above.

10229 Winter Village Cottage now available for VIP members
Posted by Huw, 24 Sep 2012 17:46. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
If you're a VIP member at shop.LEGO.com, you can now order 10229 Winter Village Cottage. VIP members received an email today offering an interesting choice:
"We know our LEGO VIPs will want to be the first to get their hands on the new Winter Village Cottage Exclusive set! However, with double VIP Points just around the corner, you'll get the VIP Star treatment WHENEVER you make your purchase:
- OPTION 1: Purchase September 24 - September 30: VIP Members get exclusive early access to purchase Winter Village Cottage!
- OPTION 2: Purchase October 1 - October 31: VIP Members get DOUBLE VIP Points on every purchase of Winter Village Cottage.
"Simply choose which of these options works best for you to purchase this great new LEGO exclusive. Just make sure you're signed in with your LEGO ID to get shopping!"
It sounds a bit of a no-brainer to me. Why would you buy it 6 days early when you can effectively save 5% on October 1st??
Whenever you choose to buy it, please do so via these links: UK (£90) | USA ($100) | Canada ($130). Note that if you're not logged in at shop.LEGO.com, you'll be sent to the home page when you click on them, which confused me this morning when I first read about this at Brick Fanatics.
(Thanks tzi for sending me the email text: I haven't received it directly yet).

French brand store opening soon!
Posted by Huw, 07 Aug 2012 03:36. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
French site Hoth Bricks is reporting that LEGO is recruiting for staff to work in a brand store that is to open in Lille, in the north-east corner of France. This will be the first brand store to open in the country and the news will surely be greeted with enthusiasm by AFOLs in that part of France, and also those in Belgium, because Lille is of course close to the Belgian border.
Hopefully this will be the first of many in the country. If you fancy applying for the job, here are the details.
I think those of you in Spain, Portugal, Italy and elsewhere in Europe can also be encouraged this news given that it signals expansion outside of the UK, Germany and Denmark which will hopefully continue into other countries.

Zombie set of the week - #10215 UCS Obi-Wan's Starfighter
Posted by bluemoose, 07 Jul 2012 17:28. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
I have to admit I thought this set had gone earlier this year, but #10215, UCS Obi-Wan's Starfighter is currently available from LEGO Shop online in Europe, Australia & New Zealand at around 50% off, which seems like a pretty good deal.
This set never generated a lot of excitement, unusual for a Star Wars UCS set, and it always seemed rather expensive, but I have to admit I enjoyed the build a lot more than I was expecting and the finished model looks a lot better than I thought it would. It also makes a for a good 'parts pack' for the MOCers out there. At this price I'm quite tempted to get another one ...
At £46.49 in the UK, I'm not expecting it to be around for long ... click through to LEGO Shop on-line to take a look.
Also, a reminder that the free Mini Sopwith Camel set with a £50/€55 spend offer is still running ..
Thanks to those on the forums that posted about this and those that emailed us with the news.

Mini-Modulars now available at shop.LEGO.com
Posted by Huw, 26 Jan 2012 15:39. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The Mini-modulars can now be ordered from shop.LEGO.com, but you have to be logged in to be able to do so. Mighty Wanderer emailed to say they were available but when I first looked it said 'coming soon 1st Feb.'
It seems that if you search for 10230 at LEGO.com and you are not logged in you end up at product landing page that says 'coming soon' but when you click on 'full details' it takes you back to the shop home page.
So, if you want to order, use these links [UK (£60) | USA ($80) | Canada ($100)] and if you end up at the home page, sign in and try again.

Kingdoms Joust, now available.
Posted by bluemoose, 27 Dec 2011 13:52. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The LEGO Kingdoms Joust set, jointly announced back at the beginning of October at BrickCon (USA) and The Great Western Lego Show (UK), is now available from LEGO Shop Online (UK, £100 | USA, $120) and from Brand Retail Stores in the UK (we haven't heard about it being available in other bricks and mortar stores - let us know if you see it anywhere).
If you were at either of the two events mentioned above, you will have had the opportunity to take a good look at the set 'in the flesh'; I spent a day 'baby sitting' the one at GWLS, so I got to know it fairly well, and it's a very nice set in my opinion.
I've also got a part-built one on the sofa next to me as I type this ... it belongs to my wife, so I must resist the tempation to do any of the assembly!

Large update at shop.LEGO.com
Posted by Huw, 14 Dec 2011 05:18. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
What I assume is in preparation for their imminent release, images have been uploaded to shop.LEGO.com for all of the first-wave of 2012 sets. The products aren't all listed at LEGO.com yet so you won't be able to see them on the site itself, so I've added them to Brickset, including all the additional images showing small details and minifigs.
So, use these links and get drooling: City | Cars | Star Wars | Friends | Ninjago.
For me, the Friends sets look most intruiging. There are some great colours and pieces in them, and it is said that the girls' hairpieces are compatible with minifigs. It's a shame my daughters are now too old to buy them for. I'll just have to come up with some other excuse!
Here's a few alternate images to whet your appetite:
Update: there's some interest in the comments about the new astromech head in the X-Wing set, so I've posted a close-up on flickr:

Advance warning of price reduction
Posted by Huw, 23 Nov 2011 18:10. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
It's not often that we're able to tell you in advance of price reductions at shop.LEGO.com, particularly for something that's actually worth buying rather than the usual tat that's been found languishing at the back of the warehouse :-)
Anyway, from tomorrow, the 24th, the latest incarnation of the Maersk container ship will be approx. 30% off in all countries that LEGO ship to from Europe (i.e. all of Europe and AU/NZ). In the UK, it'll be reduced from £102 to a far more realistic £72.09.
If you don't already have this set, I highly recommend it. It's one of my favourites and one that I have had on permanent display since it was released in 2004. Not only does it look very cool once built, it also has a great selection of pieces in Maersk blue and dark red.

VIP member offers today only
Posted by Huw, 19 Nov 2011 03:40. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
At the moment every LEGO retailer out there seems to be offering some sort of offer in an attempt to get us to part with our money. Unfortunately LEGO themselves can't offer 3-for-2 or deep discounts because they can't undercut their retail channel so their offers have to be a bit more creative. Today's offer, for VIP members, is pretty good:
- Spend over £25 / US$49 / CA$49 -- free delivery (I thought everyone had that anyway...)
- Spend over £50 / US$99 / CA$99 -- Get the second Christmas set free as well
- Spend over £100 / US$149 / CA$149 -- 10% off your order as well!Plus, VIP points too!
Now I just need to find something to buy. Luckily for you in the US and Canada you can get the 2012 sets already so there's probably something you need. But for me here in the UK, I have nearly everything I want...

The Shadow ARF Trooper has returned to strike for the Republic!
Posted by Huw, 07 Nov 2011 07:33. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
If you're in the USA or Canada you can take advantage of this special shop.LEGO.com offer for Brickset visitors:
"We have discovered a limited quantity of LEGO Star Wars™ Shadow ARF Trooper minifigures in our warehouse! Due to the very limited quantity we would like to give the fan community the first chance to receive these as bonus gift on any LEGO Star Wars holiday purchases that meet the Free Shipping threshold of $99.
"The offer will be available Nov 7th - 21st or while supplies last. To add the LEGO Star Wars™ Shadow ARF Trooper to your eligible order simply enter code BS11 (US) / BS12 (CA) at checkout."
This minifig fetches ridiculous sums on eBay so be sure to take advantage of this by placing an order today. Unfortunately there hasn't been a similar discovery in the European warehouse :-(

shop.LEGO.com gets makeover
Posted by Huw, 12 Oct 2011 12:09. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
It's been a long time coming, but now at last it looks as if the new web shop platform we've discussed here before has been deployed.
Check it out and let us know what you think. It certainly looks much nicer, but being Flash-based it's a lot slower than before.
Unfortunately, several utilities I have for extracting data and images from the site have now been rendered useless and it may take me a while to fix them :(

Here comes the bus!
Posted by bluemoose, 23 Sep 2011 12:53. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The new Volkswagen T1 Camper Van has just become available to order from the US & Canadian Shop Online stores, with immediate availability. Brickset member 'GreenHare' reports that the Newark, DE, USA, store has them on the shelf in-store already, so other US stores probably do too (ring ahead to check before making a special journey).
As for the rest of the world, the Shop Online store is reporting '27th Sept' for availability pretty much everywhere else. That's only next Tuesday, so not long to wait now.
Thanks to 'GreenHare' & 'datkidde' (on the brickset forum) for the news.

Additional discount on sale items at LEGO shop website and in stores
Posted by rocao, 01 Aug 2011 19:16. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
Coinciding with the release of the 2nd half sets, LEGO has made a further reduction to some of their sale items. Toy Story sets and some LEGO games are 40% off. Unfortunately there's currently not a free shipping promotion, but if you're fortunate enough to live near a LEGO brand store, you should be able to find these items in stock, as well.
The Prince of Persia sets -- which contain some excellent parts -- have not been reduced further yet, but I'll be on the lookout and update when they do (if there's any left after I buy them).

2nd-half 2011 sets now available online and in stores
Posted by rocao, 01 Aug 2011 18:49. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
New LEGO sets for the 2nd-half of the 2011 calendar year are now available online at shop.lego.com and in LEGO brand stores. The sets primarily span the Hero Factory, Ninjago, Technic, and Duplo themes.
Some notable additions are the 8110 Technic MB Unimog, which finally confirms the suspected price of USD 199.99, and a new LEGO board game called LEGO Champion, which looks to be a family style game in the same vein of Creationary.
To easily browse the new sets, visit http://shop.lego.com (or click the link in the top right corner) and click the "What's New" section of the Shop Features on the right hand navigation pane.
Also, since it's August 1st, you can expect to see big box retailers like Target and Wal-Mart refresh their displays with this latest stock which will carry us through to the holiday season.

LEGOshop.com sale has started
Posted by Huw, 25 Dec 2010 09:39. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
A sale started yesterday afternoon at LEGOshop.com with some 250 items listed both in the UK and USA. However hardly anything decent is actually available and it looks as if it's a bit of a sham. Sets that have long been unavailable like the Grand Carousel and series 1 and 2 figs are listed as being half price but are 'sold out'.
If you're after Duplo or Ben 10 you'll be in luck but all the decent stuff has gone, or was not available to start with in the UK at least. It's slightly better in the USA, however.

Repair kit for Technic Excavator 8043 now shipping
Posted by Grahame, 05 Oct 2010 23:54. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The repair kit for the Technic Excavator 8043 is now being shipped. It consists of 4 new actuators and 3 additional parts. There is a corrections page for the steps 33 and 36 in the instructions. The fix beyond the new actuators is to provide support for one of the gears. In order to do the repairs, you need to totally tear down the Excavator to allow the support and the actuators to be installed. (Thanks to legowerba for this news)
Update (by Huw): I received mine last week and fitted the actuators without too much stripping down. The improvement in performance is not immediately obvious, since I didn't have a lot of problems with mine in the first place, but I'll rest assured that they won't 'turn to dust' in the coming years now. I didn't fit the gear support because again, it wasn't immediately obvious what the problem was that it was fixing, and also it would require a major rebuild to fit it, which, if you've already built the model, you'll know would not be much fun!
Another update: TechnicBricks has an article about the differences between the linear actuators: it suggests that in the new ones, the internal gears are thinner and it's full of grease, to reduce friction.

Harry Potter sets now shipping / Double VIP points?
Posted by Huw, 28 Sep 2010 06:44. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
We're hearing that Harry Potter sets are now being shipped by LEGOshop.com and are indeed showing as 'available now' in the UK, a few days earler than their October 1st release date.
However, it may be worth holding off ordering them just yet as we're also hearing that during October LEGO is offering double VIP points online and in-store, which is effectively a 10% discount. Perfect -- that's just in time for the release of Tower Bridge!
Do you have the new Harry Potter sets? If so, let us know what you think by writing some reviews. Are they good value for money? I've had them for a while. I haven't yet built Hogwarts or Hagrid's hut but my verdict on the others is to buy them all but Hogwart's Express: They are expensive but the figs are excellent and the sets have a decent selection of pieces, particularly The Burrow.
Hogwart's Express has excellent figures but the train itself is atrocious: it's a very lazy design. The loco looks good above the solebar but the wheelsets are totally wrong and make the finshed model look like a cross between a steam train and a diesel. Why they didn't use the new large train wheels, I don't know. Maybe the target audience won't notice or care, but with a little extra effort it could have been superb: on a par with Emerald Night. A wasted opportunity...

UCS Imperial Shuttle, #10212, now available to order from LEGO Shop online
Posted by bluemoose, 31 Aug 2010 12:54. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
A day earlier than expected, and just in time to make it under the wire for the free shipping offer in the UK (finishes tonight, 31st August, so get ordering), the UCS Imperial Shuttle is up now for immediate shipping from LEGO Shop online in most regions.
A quick skip through the various countries & it looks like it's available to order across Europe & Australia/New Zealand. but not
the US, Canada orSouth Korea just yet ... keep an eye on the pages, as it won't be long now! As is common with the larger sets, customers are limited to ordering a maximum of 5 ...Thanks to DrDaveWatford & keithkram for the heads-up !
EDIT - that didn't take long; a couple of hours later & they are available on the US & Canadian sites too!
Here are the links to the shop: USA | UK. Remember if you order through these (or any other link on this site) Brickset gets a small cut that helps keep it running.
EDIT - Just as the UK free shipping offer ends, a US & Canadian offer starts ! Between now & 19th September, LEGO Shop online are offering free shipping on all orders over $75 (US or Canadian); check the website for all the clauses & conditions.

The mysterious case of the missing Technic set
Posted by Huw, 19 Aug 2010 10:10. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
8043, the motorised excavator, was the most anticipated Technic set of the year. I have one and I built it last week. It's a great, complex build, and once complete it works well although you need a fresh set of batteries, especially to raise the arm, which takes some effort.
However, DomincG emailed yesterday to say that it's no longer listed at LEGOshop.com in the USA and in a phone call to LEGO he was told that "the US-allocated stock for this set has been sold out and there are no plans to sell additional stock within the US". That seems a bit strange given that it was only listed on the site for about 2 weeks!
I've just checked availability in other countries and it seems to have vanished from the shop competely! I wonder if there's a quailty issue? It's still featured on the Technic home page, but if you click on 'check price' you get a 'not found' page.
Have you seen it in your LEGO store? If so, and you want it, you'd better buy it right away!
Update: it seems it is a quality issue: read the comments to find out more.

Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
(Updated) Echo Base and the Endor set can now be ordered from SOME European countries but while they were appearing as available earlier in the week for shipping to the UK, they have been removed from the UK shop website and Brickset readers in the UK have reported that they've been removed from their orders. What a cock-up... (Thanks to keithkram)

Free classic space minifig magnet with every purchase!
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
Ceroknight sent us news of a very cool promotion at LEGOshop.com. Buy anything (*) and get a free classic space minifig magent with a cool 2x4 printed tile featuring the classic space logo.
Click here to see an image and to start shopping: USA | UK.
(*) in the USA and Canada it seems you need to spend over $75.
Everywhere else it's free with every purchase.Update: I've checked LEGOShop.com, and to qualify for the CS Minifig, you need to spend AUD 90 in Australia, EUR 55 in Europe, NZD 110 in New Zealand, and GBP 55 in the UK. This offer is not available to South Korea. -- jpmanalo
Update: It seems LEGO have acknowledged there's been a problem with this promotion. I hope my affiliate manager won't mind me quoting him verbatim:
"Due to the confusion on the spend over threshold we’ve temporarily turned off the promotion everywhere except in North America (US&CA). The following regions should be updated as follows:
- Tomorrow (29th): UK, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands & Portugal
- Wednesday (30th): Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Norway, Poland & Sweden
- US & CA: The offer will remain up as the communication is currently accurate (Free Shipping + Spaceman Minifigure on orders of $75 or more.)
The offer will be available until July 31st or while supplies last."

An even sadder day for Exo-Force fans
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
You may have read elsewhere the announcement from Jan Beyer, Community Development Manager, LEGO:
"Regarding the low sales of the EXO FORCE line, the decision was made to stop the line at the end of 2008. The sales were good in 2006 but in 2007 the sales did not meet the expectations and the expectation was that even an expensive marketing campaign could not get the sales to the expected level."
That suprises me for two reasons. First, it's unusual to get such an annoucement about the end of a product line. I don't recall seeing something similar for Vikings, for example. Second, I'm really surprised that Exo-Force aren't selling! I for one love them and I know a lot of you do too. I guess the target audience, boys 7-10, prefer Bionicle.

Star Wars Promotion 3-4th May
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
There is now a page on lego.com that says to come back at 12:01 on May 3rd for more information, but it would seem that the promotion will involve a poster of every SW minifig made which you are presumably sent when you place an order over a certain amount.
I think you can only view the page if your country is set to USA (and probably Canada) so I reckon us Europeans will be out of luck :-(
(Thanks to ljr7225 for the heads-up and WedgeAntilles for additional info)

LEGO Shop - Now available in Norway
Posted by bluemoose, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).

LEGO have updated the LEGO Shop on-line store to now accept orders from Norway, which has, strangely, been the notable exception to the northern/western European countries supported up until now.
Thanks to Øyvind for the news; he comments that "... it is good shopping news for us Norwegians ... prices are good; same as in the catalog and normal toy store prices."

Silent Sale at S@H

Ronbonne reports that he has purchased some Mindstorms sensors from Shop At Home (US) and discovered they have a "silent" sale going on. Most sensors were 20% discounted; the "silent" part of this sale is that you only find out what the discount is once you put the items in you shopping basket; the lower prices are NOT listed on the item pages..!

No other country seems to be affected.

2008 sets appearing in US shops
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
Several correspondents have reported that Toys R Us in the USA have started stocking 2008 sets, including the Exo-Force ones, so if you're near one, go and check it out!
The appearance of new sets after Thanksgiving has been the norm for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately we in the UK have to wait until January before we see them although sometimes S@H lists them just before Christmas. Just after the last posting date for them to arrive for Christmas, usually :-)

LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga available for preorder on North American Shop@Home!
Posted by shima55, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
If you live in the U.S. or Canada, and own a Wii, DS, PS3, or XBOX 360, you can now pre-order LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga Video Game directly from the LEGO website! Oddly, the ship date is listed as November 19th, instead of the 6th, as everywhere else has its release listed. The extra wait may be worth it, however, as if you order before November 30th, you get an exclusive content code on the packing slip. As far as I know, the game is still listed to be released on November 9th in the UK.

Sharing your collection with others
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
In response to my request for ideas for new features, someone asked for the ability to share their collection and wants lists with others. This was a quick thing to do so on the 'Sets I own' and 'Sets I want' page you'll now see a link which you can send to others to enable them to see your data. Note that you need to ensure that 'Allow other members to view my collection' is ticked on your profile otherwise they'll see a blank list.
While I was at it I have also increased the results page size from 25 rows to 50. If that slows things down too much for you them let me know and I'll reduce it again.

Direct product links to Shop At Home
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
Brickset is now getting a feed from LEGO with details of all sets available at S@H. This has enabled me to add prices and direct product links to the search results and set information pages. At the moment it's only for the UK, but I hope to add US prices and links in the coming weeks. If you're in the US, you can still use the existing link, it just doesn't go directly to the product.
I hope you find them useful; be sure to click-through and buy, and thanks to those of you that have already used them.

We have received many e-mails about comments being deleted from a certain news article. Due to an outbreak of members abusing the comments facility on the news article in question, I have been forced to delete many comments from said article. The reason some newer comments have been deleted is because they relate to the deleted comments. Please do not continually put comments up asking why previous ones have been deleted. I hope this clears up the matter for everyone, and thank you for your co-operation.

Mr. Magorium’s Big Book Availability.

If you live in the U.S., do not live near a LEGO Brand store, and do not want to pay shipping and handling for the new Creator Mr. Magorium's Big Book, don't worry! The set is available at Target stores. You have to look for it though. It is located on an endcap with a group of other vintage toys. It's not known if it's exclusive to Target stores or not, and we will report on any other sightings. Sadly, it is still not available to European consumers, but we will keep you posted...

US S@H prices now available!
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
North Americans, your wait is over! I have the US feed and you can now see US prices, direct product links and the 'Buy' page shows what's available from S@H.
The country detection code should send you off to the right page but in case it doesn't, you can switch to the US page from the UK one and vice-versa. When you have done that once, it will remember your preference.
I plan to add plenty more features in the coming weeks: Sets available only in the US, only in the UK, new sets at S@H, maybe even a chart showing the sets with the best and worse $/£ ratios (but LEGO might not like that!)
If you like what I'm doing, encourage me to do more by buying your sets from my links!
Update: I think the complexity of the queries to support this functionalty is causing some pages to timeout. If you experience such problems, please persevere or try again later. I'll have to work on optimising them in the next few days.

More 2009 news
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
This article on the ToyNews website lists many of the sets we have seen pictures of already but also mentions "Power Miners" which sound like the return of Rock Raiders - a theme that had many appealing features, but was released at the time when LEGO were excessively juniorising many of their sets. Let's hope that's not the case this time round!

Last few days for Christmas shopping
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
If you're looking to buy gifts from LEGOShop.com for delivery before Christmas you'd better be quick and get ordering soon because the last shipping dates to guarantee pre-Christmas delivery are fast approaching! The exact date varies by country but for the UK it's December 16th and the USA it's December 22nd.
In previous years in the UK, the next year's sets have become available a day or two after the last shipping date, so let's hope that's the case this year so we can order our own presents for delivery just after Christmas!

Show your support for Brickset
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The more observant among you will have noticed the colourful S@H adverts on the left-hand-side of this page. Brickset is now a LEGO affiliate which means that, if you access S@H by clicking on the ads to get there, Brickset will get a small commission on every item bought.
Having two ads for different markets is a bit messy, and what about the rest of the world, I hear you ask? Well, it seems the different regions of LEGO do things separately and at the moment only NA (US and Canada) and UK have affiliate schemes. I'll put some country detection code in place soon to show only the relevant one when I have worked out how.
I'm hoping to put direct product links on the relevant set pages, if I can get the data in a usable format from them. There are at present 590-odd different sets listed on S@H and I'm certainly not going to add them manually!
Show your support for Brickset by clicking on the link and buying something today!

A yearly event.
Posted by shima55, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
Every year, around this time, LEGO shelves are not stocked well. In a month or two, this problem will be gone. But, many of the sets released this year will not be restocked, as they have been discontinued. So, before you buy every new 2008 set, make sure to look and see if there aren't some 2007 sets you still want, as they may not be around much longer.

2010 sets at LEGOShop.com in the UK and Europe and SALE now on!
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
Toy Story, Star Wars, Technic, Power Miners, Atlantis: they are all now available but they are hard to find: the site is probably in a transient state while they add the new themes so you'll have to search for each set or theme individually. Click on the yellow 'Shop Today' image on the right and search away.
The sale has also started: check out the Sales And Deals
page, there are nearly 200 sets in the sale at 25%-50% off, including Star Wars.

Happy 50th Anniversary, LEGO brick!
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
Today marks the 50th anniversay of the LEGO brick. It was this day, back in 1958, that LEGO were granted the patent for the stud-and-tube design of the automatic binding brick.
To mark the occasion Google's logo is made from LEGO and there are loads of news articles in papers and websites all over the world. I will be featured in an article in Southampton's Southern Daily Echo, and fellow Brickish Association members have been featured on UK TV, including BBC Breakfast on Friday, when our chairman Simon Bennett constructed a model of the studio live on air.
If there's something notable happening where you live, add a comment to let us know!

A few news snippets...
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
It's a bit quiet for news at the moment. I guess the frenzy of early year activity of new sets hitting the shelves is over, as is the toy fair season. Here's a few snippets of recently reported news:
- bsmarthen advises us that some of the Speed Racers sets are now available in KMart in the USA
- There are some better pictures of the space Factory sets, 10191 and 10192 floating about so I have added them here
- Argos in the UK has 25% off all LEGO and'll give you a £5 voucher when you spend over £50 and a £10 one when you spend over £100
Last but certainly not least, a very exciting piece of news:
- A book with details of 8000 LEGO sets released over the last 50 years is being published in May. This will be particularly interesting to us here at Brickset. We'll at last be able to determine how complete our database is, and maybe even find sets missing in the book. It will be available from LEGO brand stores, S@H and can be pre-ordered now from the publisher's site. As soon as we get a copy we'll post a review here.

HERO Factory now available on LEGO Online Shop
Posted by shima55, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
legoshop.com now has the entire Hero Factory line for sale - even 7179 Duncan Bulk and Vapor. Oddly, 7148 Meltdown, is only in the U.S. at the time of writing this. Price points are the same as BIONICLE, however all the canister sized sets are now bad guys instead of heroes, and all the 'big sets' are good guys only so far.
Thanks to Brickset users "cwfrontline" and "essej1213" for the news tips!

Speed Racers Now Available from S@H
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The sets are now in the data feed. I picked the yellow/red one up at the weekend in the LEGO brand store in Milton Keynes. It's actually rather good particularly given the price of less than £6 per car (including the 10% Brickish discount). A lot of nice curved pieces and no useless single-use parts.

Castle Town Square and other 2009 sets now available in the UK
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
If you're near a LEGO brand store (Brighton, Milton Keynes or Bluewater) you should be able to grab some 2009 sets before Christmas. Bluemoose reports that in addition to the town square (priced at a very reasonable 68.50) "they have both new Indy sets (car chase & german plane), both new Star Wars 'army builder' sets, new Jedi starfighter & clone assault gun-boat thing, some of the new racer sets, the new City crane & City digger, the new mini F-14-like creator set, but no Miners or Farm yet."
No sign of them on LEGOshop.com yet though. Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer to be able to order them from there...

Factory space sets now available from S@H
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The two LEGO Factory space sets can now be bought from LEGOshop.com in Europe. However they seem a tad expensive to me. At £70 (or €100 in Germany) for under 1000 pieces they do not compare well with Market Street, for example, which is £10 cheaper and has about 400 more parts. They don't seem to be available from LEGOshop.com in the US, but I suspect they'll be somewhat less than $150, which the exchange rate would suggest given the European prices.

Grand Emporium now listed at LEGOshop.com
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The next modular building, 10211 Grand Emporium, is now listed at LEGOShop.com, and will be shipping at the end of February in North America and Europe.
Here are quick links to the shop: USA
| UK
I was anticipating that LEGO would 'big-up' its launch because, you may remember, they asked me to remove the images we posted at the beginning of January so as not to spoil the surprise. I guess that given none of the other fan sites pulled the images, they decided not to bother.
Update 6th Feb: For some reason the set has been removed entirely from LEGOshop.com: the links above lead nowhere now. All very strange, particularly given it's already for sale in UK brand stores.

New U.S. shop news
Posted by shima55, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
In addition to the new Minifigures able to be purchased on the online shop (currently number 4 on the top sellers list!) there were more late 2010 sets added afterwards! The rest of the Atlantis sets were added, including the hard-to-find 8080 Undersea Explorer (will be a store exclusive in the U.S., currently unknown which store it will be exclusive to), the rest of the Kingdoms sets are out, more World Racers, and well as the rest of the 2009 games! Grab them while you can, the few that were released earlier this week are already high on the best-sellers list.

Winter Toy Shop now available from LEGOshop.com
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The much anticipated Winter Toy Shop
can now be ordered from LEGOshop.com priced £39.15 in the UK, as previously reported, and US$60 in the USA. It's not yet in our product feed and is a job to actually find on the LEGO site (searching for 10199 or Winter Toy Shop is unsuccessful) so use these links to order it: UK
| USA
(thanks dermott47)
Also, whung found two more Christmas sets in the LEGO instructions cache: 30008 Snowman and 30009 Christmas Tree. As if there weren't enough holiday sets to buy already!
UPDATE - These sets are starting to appear in LEGO Brand Stores & Imagination Centers; we have received confirmed reports from the US (Minneapolis) & the UK (Milton Keynes), so it's presumably in the German stores too.
Another update: As proof that LEGO read Brickset, I've been asked to inform you that searching for the terms mentioned above DOES now work!

Getting ready for 2009.
Posted by shima55, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
Once again, it is approaching a new year. For LEGO collectors, this usually means one thing: new sets! However, a word of caution, before you start stocking up on Pirates, Power Miners, and City Farm sets, make sure you have everything from this year that you want, as no one outside the LEGO Group knows exactly what will be discontinued. Based on previous years, however, it is almost a guarantee that certain sets WILL be discontinued. For instance: Star Wars Battle Packs, Racers Tiny Turbos, and BIONICLE Matoran are often hard to find around the holidays, and by the time the new year shows up, the next years line-up is there and the last years is gone. Don't forget Mars Mission is being replaced by a new Space line next year, too. Also, anything from 2007 should be snapped up fast, and it goes without saying that any Store Exclusives that are still around won't be for much longer, so grab them while you can!

Power Functions price hike at LEGO Shop At Home (UK)
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
When the prices for the Power Functions were announced in the latest S@H catalogue, I was surprised how cheap they were. It would appear that LEGO were too once they'd re-done their calculations because the prices have increased considerably already. For example, the XL motor is listed at £3.99 but now costs £7.99.
However, if you're quick you can still order them at the old prices: Simply click-through from here, add them to your cart, then use catalogue code EJ99 or EJ80 when you check-out. You should find that the prices are reduced to the old level.
This will only work until the end of March when another catalogue is released.

8039 Venator can now be ordered from LEGOshop.com in Europe!
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
8039 is now listed on LEGOShop.com, priced at £97.85 in the UK and €139 in most Euro-zone countries, and is available now.
This is sure to be a popular set: it's been in Brickset's popular searches list since day one of the new site launch and is in the top ten of the most wanted set list, so order 8039 Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser from LEGOshop.com now!
It's still marked as unavailable in the US and Canada.
LEGO's products launched in 2009
list now lists all summer releases, even the Star Wars ones, although these, and the Space Police 3 sets are marked as not available and the SW sets (other than 8039) have no images.
Thanks to Steven M for the tip-off!.
EDIT - It looks like the 3 new Castle & 2 of the new Space Police sets are now priced & available to order across most of Europe & Australia/New Zealand. Oddly, Space Police is still not listed for Germany or Austria.

Sadly, 7041 is currently not available to U.K. consumers, but almost every other 2008 Castle set is, so there are plenty of other sets to choose from.

Black NXT mystery

For a few days last week LEGOshop.com listed a black NXT brick for sale in North America. It's since been pulled from their listings and attempts to find it on their site results in a page not found.
It's possible that it's version 2 of the NXT brick: we know there's a new NXT 2.0 set, 8547, due out this year. I guess it was listed in the shop by mistake!

New at LEGOshop.com
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
The release of the summer sets continues at LEGOshop.com. The three new Space Police 3 sets are available in the UK and Europe and the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia has made an appearance in North America. The Lamborghini looks great, and it's good to see a supercar that is not red or yellow. I suspect it won't look so good without the stickers, though. I'm averse to stickers: you get one shot at them and if you blow it the set's ruined...

New product releases at LEGOshop.com
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
July 1st: half way through the year and many of the second-half-of-year sets have been added to LEGoshop.com in all regions. HERO Factory, Technic, Atlantis second wave, 4 new games to name but a few. No sign of the Star Wars sets though.
They'll appear in our product feed in a day or two, so until then see them all here: USA | UK. Don't forget that when you spend over $75/£50 you'll receive a free Classic Space magnet as well!

LEGO Collectors' Guide book now available from LEGOshop.com
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
This much-anticipated book is now available! Personally I can't wait to get hold of a copy. It will be very interesting to see how its coverage compares with Brickset. It claims to cover "nearly every LEGO set produced".
I plan to write a full review as soon as I have a copy.

Locked and Loaded, and Almost Ready to Go...
Posted by Grahame, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
They're almost here...
LEGOshop.com has listed as currently "not available" about forty-five new releases including City, Castle, Agents, Racers, Space Police and several Duplo sets for customers in Europe, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.
I see 8169 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 is amongst the new releases but the three Power Miners sets are missing although they are available already in the shops here (NZ). I think June is going to be an expensive month!
UPDATE: The City and Castle sets, and the Lamborghini are now available for ordering!

The LEGO Factory Hobby Train, designed by LEGO AFOL's is half off at S@H. It is currently on backorder, but with a sale like this, it probably won't be long before it is sold out for good.

Sooner than expected, and cheaper than expected, the Taj Mahal is now available for £200 in the UK and $300 in the US.
With 5922-pieces, this set will keep you busy building for many hours I suspect!

AT-OT now available from LEGOshop.com!
Posted by Huw, 06 Aug 2010 15:03. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).
You can now order the AT-OT for immediate dispatch.
If you're in the USA use this link: Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker
. The price is $249.99.
In the UK for once we have a reasonable exchange rate, better in fact than that quoted at xe.com at the moment (1 USD = 0.690784 GBP) so use this link Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker
to order it for £166.35 before LEGO see the error of their ways and increase the price.
Note: ordering through the links above helps me to run this website. If you like what I do, please show your support!
