Prompted by lukehankenobi's report yesterday about the Brighton store, I went there today, on a detour to picking up Granny for Christmas (luckily only about a 10 mile one). I picked up all but one of the Star Wars sets (all but 7869, which wasn't there but I did get the T6 (7931) which was in the stock room) and about 20 series 3 figs. I just grabbed a couple of handfuls from the box at the till. I thought I'd resist buying a box this time because they are, after all, inferior Chinese-made figs, and I don't need a glut of them.

Anyway, back home, I've sorted them out and with the aid of my wife we managed to decipher the dots, which appear to be the same as those on our crib-sheet. I opened one of each different pattern and ended up with 9 uniques, which isn't too bad I suppose. Sadly no fishermen though...

If anyone in the UK's up for a spot of trading, get in touch! I have spare mummies, gorilla guys, snowboard girls and baseball players plus a couple of others.

There was quite a selection of Ninjago out including what I think was the Spinjitzu Starter Set, 2257, for £12.99. There didn't appear to be any sets on sale in the shop, so either it was a short lived sale or they've sold out already.

Update: I'm hearing that Ninjago is available in some branches of Tesco now, too. The starter packs are £7.45 (thanks azzatru)

cant wait till these hit everywhere in the uk :D

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 11:00

I'm just waiting for the entrepreneurs to start posting full sets of S3 minifigs on eBay - I'm done with the lucky dip !
PS. How much were the figs this time round ?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 11:05

1.99 still, luckily!

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 23 Dec 2010 11:06

That's great news if a single Crib sheet will work for everyone.

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 11:23

Unfortunatly I too will wait until Ebayers start selling full sets of these. I'm getting cheesed off with the amount of duplicates I got last time. Reading previous posts I'm not too sure on using the crib-sheet on these as it doesn't seem to work according to comments made.

Posted by JonnyRonny in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 11:30

Does anyone know if you could xray the packet with a xray app on the iphone or ipod touch 4g to see what is inside? If not im definatley buying a whole set on ebay.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 11:41

@JonnyRonny - the 'x-ray' apps are all gimmicks/tricks; they don't really x-ray anything, so they aren't going to be any use here.
@Huw - did they have any of the new Atlantis sets?

Posted by JaseTJ in United States, 23 Dec 2010 11:47

I know its not news in America, but my dad picked up a couple for me at a ToysRUs. They had a limit of two so I had him get a couple random. They ended up being the fisherman and the racer (the latter I gave to my friend).

Again, I know that's not news... but on the bags, I couldn't find any bumps whatsoever... ???

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 23 Dec 2010 13:38

@JaseTJ - The dots/dimples are fairly faint on the bottom flap of the backside of the packet.
@bluemoose - I can't speak for Brighton, but our stateside Lego Store only had the 2/3 new small Atlantis sets and the medium "Angler Fish" - esque set. The corrugated pillar pieces do look great, though.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 13:51

Thanks ... but not much use to me, as I'm unlikely to visit a US LEGO store any time in the next 24 hours ;-)

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 13:54

Nice that the figs are still £1.99, given that the price seems to have been hiked elsewhere.

Posted by lukehankenobi in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 13:58

7869 was in stock yesterday, it must've sold out!

Posted by TheKingOfBuilding in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 14:01

Has anyone been to the Bluewater Lego Store? If so, what new sets do they have?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 14:17

@bluemoose: yes: the temple, the green fishy thing, the walker and 7976. I didn't notice the drill sub.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 23 Dec 2010 14:33

@bluemoose - Glad I could help. :o)

Posted by Scoutjo5 in Canada, 23 Dec 2010 15:34

I hope they come to Canada soon! :)

Posted by JaseTJ in United States, 23 Dec 2010 16:03

Okay.. I think I can see them on the Racer, and maybe on the fisherman.. I got REALLY lucky with him, didn't I? The beard is awesome btw, and my friend suggested it for Santa? (Yellow pants too, that are distinguishably pants!)

Posted by R4-G9 in Canada, 23 Dec 2010 16:14

scoutjo5: tru already has them, but they are not allowed to sell them untill jan 1.

Posted by I like Lego in Canada, 23 Dec 2010 17:08

@ R4-G9: How can T"R"U have them but not sell them till Jan. 1st? Don't the realize that UK & US have them out already? Oh well, never will buy CM's from T"R"U.

Posted by mutley777 in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 17:20

Could you add what you paid for the Star Wars sets? I have yet to see the UK RRP for any of the star wars line!

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 17:39

@Mutley, two words: 'too much' :-)

7868 Mace Windu Starfighter, £36
7915 V Wing, £22
7929 Battle of Naboo, £26
Battle packs, £10
7931 T6, £50.

As I said, too much :-)

Posted by mutley777 in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 17:56

@Huw - Thanks! Not to bad but the T6 looks a little on the pricy side.

Posted by jallan13 in United Kingdom, 23 Dec 2010 18:20

@TheKingOfBuilding - I went to the bluewater store this afternoon.

- They had most of pharohs quest, but no pyramid or snake set,
- a few of the smaller ninjago sets

- Lots of the new city police sets, but no bank
- The battle of naboo, bounty hunter gunship, new battle packs, V wing fighter and the battle of Genosis. there was no jedi shuttle, or mace windu starfighter
- no diagon alley
- no collectable minifigs :(

the only sets i found on sale were the wind turbine, construct a zurg, and price of persia all half price.

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 23 Dec 2010 20:03

How did you find deciphering the dots? Different people have said that it was both easy and hard. Every new report makes me nervous about the whole deal. But they probably won't arrive in Australia for another week or so.

Posted by R4-G9 in Canada, 23 Dec 2010 20:05

i like lego: if you are in calgary the 32nd ave tru has them out for sale, aswell as tru macloud trail, and tru in red deer!

Posted by war44lock in New Zealand, 23 Dec 2010 20:57

I just sold all my series two double ups on trademe, an auction site here in New Zealand. Made a small profit too. Its kind of a pain but I had eleven double ups, all sold in a week! Series three won't be out here untill early January im told. Oh and the series two figures are still on sale at Toy World Napier for $2.99NZ for any Kiwis still looking! (Half price).

Posted by its grant in Canada, 24 Dec 2010 00:52

R4-G9 do they have lots of lego minifigures i live in lethbridge but im goin to calgary soon also how much were they

Posted by Achilles in New Zealand, 24 Dec 2010 02:27

How do you know that they are made in China? What's the difference? (inferior quality that you've mentioned) how do we know which ones are superior quality? Can you tell by the box?

Posted by R4-G9 in Canada, 24 Dec 2010 04:38

its grant: the spinners were $12.99 the starter set was$24.99, the four smallest sets were $6.99, $9.99, $19.99, $24.99, and garmodon's dark fortress was $89.99.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 24 Dec 2010 04:55

@Achilles, minifigs in the 'extended product range' are made in China. That includes chess sets, collectable minifigs, magnets, the minifig collection boxes, battle packs and so on. Everything that's not in a regular box or polybag, basically.

The differences are clear when you compare one with the other. The Chinese made ones are made of an almost translucent plastic with a different finish. You can see some differences here http://www.flickr.com/photos/hmillington/4500472863/in/set-72157622329075437/, and other pics in the set.

Posted by TheKingOfBuilding in United Kingdom, 24 Dec 2010 05:02

If anyone lives near/in Chelmsford, the Prince's Road Tesco has some Ninjago single spinners, starter sets, and the skeleton motobike sets (I was suprised how small they were!). I bought a starter set to see how the Spinjitzu spinners worked, but it turns out that you have spin them yourself :-(

@ jallon13: Thanks for the Bluewater set avaibility news!

Posted by legominifig221 in United Kingdom, 24 Dec 2010 06:48

the jan 2011 catlog just came through my door,it says the ninjago battle arena and magnet set wont be avalible untill jan 1st but it doesnt say that on any other ninjago set

All of the Series 3 Mini-figs in the USA TRU have barcodes. Could anyone make a cheat sheet for those? I went to the TRU nearest me and found 7 boxes of mini-figs. 3 of the boxes weren't, which I did open, I searched through by feeling the polybags and left with 4 fisherman! That pole is a distinctive piece and the fish. They are a pricy $3.99 though.

Posted by NeilMartin in United Kingdom, 24 Dec 2010 08:16

Smyths Toy Shop in Telford has a good selection of the Ninjago sets. It's not a theme that I'm interested in and I'm sorry but I didn't make a note of the set numbers. Smyths Telford close at 4pm Christmas Eve in case you plan to visit a Smyths branch today.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 24 Dec 2010 09:03

The LEGO Brand Store in Milton Keynes also has the series 3 minifigs in stock; I was told there was a 16-per customer limit :-(

Posted by Zander in United Kingdom, 24 Dec 2010 09:51

I just came back from the Westfield, London shop. They had the minifigs series 3 but were selling fast. I managed to get almost all the ones I wanted (elf, samurai, gorilla, sumo, fisherman, mummy) plus a few I didn't. The Westfield shop had all the following:
- City: 7287, 7498, 7285, 7288, 7279
- Ninjago: 2504, 2505, 2518, 2519, 2263, 2259, 2258, 2112, 2113, 2114, 2115,
- Pharaoh: 7306, 7307, 7326, 7327
- Atlantis: 7976, 7978, 7985
- Harry Potter: 10217
- Creator: 5763, 5766, 5761, 5762
- Racers: 8231, 8227, 8221, 8228
- Technic: 8067, 8065, 8069, 8066
- Star Warts: 7913, 7914, 7915, 7869, 7930, 7931, 7929, 7868

They had some of the Hero Factory sets but I didn't have time to record which ones. Sorry! They're open until 6.00pm today (Christmas eve). Phone: 0208 749 1059

Posted by herolegoman in United Kingdom, 24 Dec 2010 13:24

Will the collectable minifigures be in whsimiths after christmas

Posted by TheKingOfBuilding in United Kingdom, 24 Dec 2010 15:18

@herolegoman: you don't want to buy Lego from WHsmiths, the prices are crazy!

Posted by Uno Brick in United States, 24 Dec 2010 16:47

@freindboy: Those aren't the barcodes from previous series. Series 1 and 2 had a secondary barcode under the main that varied from fig to fig, while these are all identical and are the ones retailers use when ringing up the item.

Posted by herolegoman in United Kingdom, 25 Dec 2010 03:38

I just bought them all of ebay at a good price.

Posted by elliwhi in United Kingdom, 25 Dec 2010 08:32

The cribsheet doesn't work for me, somehow...

Posted by Trawler in United Kingdom, 27 Dec 2010 13:38

Just back from Nottingham and they had all Ninjago sets in John Lewis.

Posted by FlameBlast in United States, 30 Dec 2010 11:43

toys r us does not have minifig series 3 cases they put them on hangers next to the lego isle with the other bagged lego sets not in boxes such as the lego star wars speeder bike set. i wish the sold the casees. oh ya dont go to target to look for minifigure series 3 its not there

Posted by FlameBlast in United States, 30 Dec 2010 19:04

lego minifigure series is really a pain in the butt sometimes becauseyou wont know who you get ,but the dot decoder helped me get the mummy yesterday when i went with my freind to toys r us and we were both looking for the gorilla suit guy but i felt the bags and i thought the fisherman's fish was the bannana and he thought the tennis player's hair was the helmet so neither of us got him.
