    A new website has been brought to my attention today: BrickQ.com. The idea is that you ask a LEGO related question and get answers back from other members. Sounds like a good idea, but any such site is only as good as the people answering the questions and unfortunately it looks as if, at the moment, they are all on the young side and therefore there's a lot of opinionated responses of little value.

    Still, it's early days: head on over and see what you think...

Just checked out the site. I agree with what you said above. The content and quality seems pretty juvenile. However, the idea is cool and the interface is pretty simple. I think a site such as BrickQ would excel in a more mature environment.

Hm... looks nice. The "Most Popular" question is "What's the worst theme ever?", and there are MANY people saying Ben 10. Of course, they don't know Galidor... -_-

I wouldn't use it at all or trust it. There's too many opinions and questions that really don't need to be answered like "What set should I buy?" since it's their choice in the end. If I had a need-to-know question, I'd ask LEGO directly, assuming a specific question deals within the realm of being able to be answered.

Looks like a forum for juvenile questions so expect juvenile answers. I can't really see the point of this given that there are many other websites with excellent fora in which Lego related questions can be asked. Of course those sites might have low tolerance levels for the type of questions being asked.

I could see it growing into a useful resource; but there needs to be much stronger moderation before it can become useful.

@Alemas: Haha, yeah, Gallidor was a flop.

I think the idea is great, but should have administrators (like Brickset has) answering questions, instead of using it like a 'Wikiask', or 'Ask.com' style thing. At either of those sites, chances are you can get a professional answering your question, whereas with this site, you'll probably just get kids answering, etc.

Also, I feel they should specify a section for 'opinions', and a section for 'facts'. Anybody could give their opinion in the 'opinions' section, but only an approved administrator would answer the 'facts' section.

I asked what new themes would be a good idea and 2 people responded with Alien Conquest, Pharaohs Quest, NinjaGo and POTC. The people who answer these questions are pathetic for answering a question about new themes with themes already exist. Some of the people who post replies sound like complete idiots. I personally hate the questions that are like what should I get next, or what set is the best value. A filter for responses would be nice eventually.

Well it doesn't really seem all that original... that being an ask and answer site. I find it hard enough getting information from Lego, so I have little hope of finding answers in others' opinions. Seems like it has all the makings of a pointless forum. Sorry, but I don't even find the idea of a site like that useful. If I have a question, that can be answered, I'll ask it in a related news topic here.

Terrible. Its gonna be a bunch of stupid kids that have nothing good to say but still do just ot get points. Get some real informative fans in there and it could be good.

I can guarantee that I know more than 90% of the people answering questions on there. It is so dumb that anyone can post anything, and there is some really annoying guy (legrob97) god help him, he is soooooooooooo obnoxious.

@huw - thanks for posting this! Alot of questions get answered with links to brickset which I'm glad to see.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. We've done a good amount of filtering so that no profanity / childish stuff gets through (or as little as we can with the time we have to moderate it). We have a heavy hand to delete accounts of those who abuse the system.

I will see that this probably is geared more towards children as that is a bulk of who are into LEGO on a grand scale and are watching our reviews were we first announced it. We get a lot of questions from kids asking about sets and thought to make a platform where everyone could help one another would be beneficial. So, yes, probably will be more for the younger age groups unless more AFOLs sign up and participate. The community will decide in which direction it will go.

I know we all think everything LEGO online is for the AFOL (I'm guilty of that sometimes), but sometimes not.

It's got a good lay out. For a site that's new, time will tell if it grows to become something useful and goes beyond the opinions of young collectors.

Not much quality. LEGO Wikianswers has a lot more quality when it comes to answering. Although it's not perfect either.

Seems good in theory, like everyone here has already said, but its poorly executed. I think better moderation would do nicely; just browsing I noticed a few questions that were blatantly "illegal" based on the site's rules. Also, it seems like the system of points may encourage people (i.e. kids) to post useless, thoughtless answers just to get points.

You know who would be able to make a really good version of something like that, that we would ALL probably use...HUW...I know you may have your hands full with brickset but if you got it up and running and could delegate the moderation like you have with Brickset it could be awesome...BRICKSET FORUM anyone?

This site has potential, but there are to many posters that are asking ridiculous questions such as: 'if i have $xxx.xxx, what should i buy?'...

Also, the algorithm is set up so that if you ask too many questions, your user name gets deleted.

Again, a lot of potential, but they need to refine the user interface. I am looking to connect wit people that have knowledge about Lego, not what I should buy...

Hopefully they can get the bugs figured out soon.
