Batman minifig gallery

  • Batman minifig gallery

Posted by Huw, 14 Jan 2011 15:29. Filed under Brickset.

Spurred on by your kind comments and suggestions, I've now added a Batman minifig gallery, featuring every Batman figure ever made, some of which are changing hands for ridiculous sums of money now on BrickLink.

I've tweaked my lighting setup and I think the images are better than the Harry Potter ones, although it's still difficult photographing figures with white parts against a white background (like Two-Face).

I've taken a photo of the setup I used for these images showing  the flash positions etc.

Once again, let me know what you think...

Awesome! But I think Nightwing is good.

Thank Huw. Do you think it is more the short supply or the high demand.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 14 Jan 2011 16:02

Will you be doing a Star Wars one as well? I think the pictures look great!

Posted by Jonny 2 Scarves in United Kingdom, 14 Jan 2011 16:04

I love the superhero themes, hope they bring them back one day (soon!) I have all of them except for Bane and Catwoman. Do all the backgrounds have to be white? Would it not be acceptable for the white figures like Two-Face to be photographed in front of a different colour?

Posted by rainstorm26 in United States, 14 Jan 2011 16:05

Huw, just a minor thing on the pictures. For the pictures of minifigs with broad hats, I might lower the front lights a little more to remove some of the shadow from the faces.

Love these galleries! Now you need a NinjaGo one.

we need one for Halo!
oops. halo is Megablocks. xDD

Very Nice...

Are you even going to attempt Star Wars? The sheer amount of minifigures would make it a huge task, and at the rate Lego make them it'd constantly need to be updated...

Posted by Jarod98 in United Kingdom, 14 Jan 2011 16:35

Great, I like Batman more than Harry Potter, but you know we need Star Wars to be updated. Is there any way us Brickset fans can help since it's such a big theme?

Posted by Berrybrick in United States, 14 Jan 2011 16:36

I'd say go for Indiana Jones or Spongebob next, you know, an easier lisence theme (that is the plan right, lisenced themes?). If you do attempt STAR WARS try movie by movie or trilogy by trilogy.

Very nicely done!.

What's next?

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 14 Jan 2011 17:25

Why are the Batman Lego sets being listed at such stupid prices!? It certainly wasn't rare or hard to find. I remember seeing it everywhere. At the time I really didn't care to buy any of the sets at Canadian price, now I just laugh at anyone paying those stupid re-seller prices! LOL! I don't understand why people liked the batman theme.

Keep doing these!

Posted by ambo100 in United Kingdom, 14 Jan 2011 17:27

Thanks, I'm sure we all appreciate the effort you've put into these photographs, they're great and certainly worth the effort.

Posted by SapmiSatan in Norway, 14 Jan 2011 17:36

Great, but it reminds me of the times I, with no luck, have tried to get these of Ebay, why couldn't I buy them when they were in stores?

Posted by CharlieTheFunEngine in Australia, 14 Jan 2011 18:36

Great work once again. I can't wait to see more galleries in the future!

Posted by ShatteredGnome in United States, 14 Jan 2011 18:45

Huw, @ refriedbeans is correct, Nightwing isn't a villain, but a "good" character; the alternate equivalent to Robin.

Posted by PaulTR in United States, 14 Jan 2011 18:54

Absolutely fantastic! The quality of these pics is incredible! I hope more galleries are made. As a scary thought, could you imagine a City gallery? Whew! That would be literally hundreds of minifigs!

Posted by myoulton in United Kingdom, 14 Jan 2011 19:09

I think the quality speaks for itself. Thanks for the effort. Keep up the good work.

Great work, Huw! Your set-up looks professional. I thought you'd be using one of those improvised lightboxes I see on Youtube! :-)

I salute you for literally bringing these minifgs out of the dark...the figs look bright and and the details are crisp.

What!? No Troll again!?!?

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 14 Jan 2011 20:32

Cheers, Huw - superb photos, and a timely reminder that I still have a few Batman sets to get. ....

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 14 Jan 2011 21:39

Huw....kickin' butt with your photos. Love 'em.
With this high quality and details, this will end up being the definitive Mini-Fig gallery on the net.

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 14 Jan 2011 22:42

Looks fantastic, but as some already mentioned, Nightwing is a good guy

Posted by Be-Burger in Israel, 15 Jan 2011 03:43

Excellent shots, looking forward to the next gallery :)

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 15 Jan 2011 03:50

Thanks for for the info about Nightwing, I've moved him to the 'good' section :-)

Posted by Trawler in United Kingdom, 15 Jan 2011 06:06

Fantastic work on these and the Harry Potter gallery.

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 15 Jan 2011 06:50

What next Huw? I think you, like most people, should go with lisenced themes, or themes that have been discontiued. I say this because it would be much easy then having to add more and more minifigures every time a new set comes out.

Posted by menq in Netherlands, 15 Jan 2011 06:56

Great work Huw! The lighting is very good! Being a Star Wars minifig collector I had the same 'problem' with the BrickLink pictures as you stated in an earlier post. In 2009 I started taking pictures and putting them on a website. Would you consider linking to my gallery?! Go to http://www.minifigs.nl/swminifigs/mfnl-all.html for an impression...

Great pics! Thank you! But why each figure's hand is reversed? Is it some sort of your signature?

Posted by clone commander trainrex in United States, 15 Jan 2011 07:57

@Menq You Have a TON of Star Wars Minifigs.
These are great but I still look forwards to Star Wars

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 15 Jan 2011 10:32

^^ Reversed? I think they look more natural with the curved bit at the top.

Posted by M-Tron Hero Kodiak in United States, 15 Jan 2011 11:37

Awesome addition to brickset!! We need a space gallery next! But, I don't have all the pre-mar mission space themes yet.

Posted by Jarod98 in United Kingdom, 15 Jan 2011 11:43

This is great to see Brickset creating their own minifig gallery, I never did like how BrickLink to pics from all different backgrounds. Keep it up!!!

UPDATE: I'm currently working on collecting all of the Pharaoh's Quest sets. If it's possible I'd be willing to take some pics (obviously the way Brickset would want them and not like BrickLink's scattered pics) and email them to you Huw.

Awesome again!!

Posted by Renegade007cjh in United Kingdom, 15 Jan 2011 12:02

Have been looking at these new gallery pictures for Harry Potter and Batman and am very impressed. It was definitely needed - the varying quality / size of minifigs in the photos in the old-style pictures was quite distracting, but this is so much better. Kudos to you, Huw.

Like many of the comments here, I'm eagerly anticipating the Star Wars collection, but appreciate what a phenomenal undertaking this would be. I'd suggest sticking with the older / discontinued themes to start with (or newer ones) to keep it manageable and then move onto some of the longer-running / more extensive ones later. Indiana Jones would be cool, as would Atlantis...

Is there any chance of you providing a link / file to download all the photos for a particular theme in one go?

Strange you have the hands with the curved side upper most - have always had them the other way 'round. Each to their own!!!!

Keep up the good work!!

"^^ Reversed? I think they look more natural with the curved bit at the top."
It looks fine but still it's not the right position of hands IMO. But if not that thing the pictures would just be tooooo perfect :)
Keep making great galleries!

I am glad I have one of each set MISB...

Do you think Lego will release any more Spider-man sets since the new movie is coming out?

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 16 Jan 2011 06:21

Seeing these lovely photos of the minifgs just makes me yearn even more for these sets. These sets were all released before I came out of my dark ages and there is absolutely no way I will ever pay (winning the lottery aside) the crazy prices being asked for these sets now.

Best I can hope for is that lego release/re-release some sets in 2012 when the next Batman film is scheduled to be released.

^ legowomen1980p, I also hope they release some more Spider-man sets in 2012 to tie into the new movie, that would be a great year, new Batman AND Spider-man sets!

Posted by legofanatic2414 in United States, 16 Jan 2011 18:45

Did they discontinue Batman?

Posted by radd8 in United States, 17 Jan 2011 02:08

By the way love the pics you take look great!
