    There have been rumours flying around for a couple of months, but we now have confirmation that LEGO are opening a bricks-and-mortar store in Toronto, their 2nd store in Canada. No news on the opening date, but based on previous store openings, it will likely be around June 2011.

    The job advert for the manager for the new store can be found here.

    "Store Managers need to have the following to succeed:
    At least three years of management experience in a high volume, multi-unit, specialty retail environment."

    You can also find the job advert for the Assistant manager here, and the 'Brick Specialists' (aka sales staff) here.

    "Assistant Store Managers need to have the following to succeed:
    -At least two years of management experience in a high volume, multi-unit, specialty retail environment."

    "Brick Specialists must have the following to succeed:
    -A very outgoing, enthusiastic personality passion for the LEGO brand.
    -At least 18 years of age and with a high school diploma.
    -A full year of retail experience is preferred."

    UPDATE - an interesting addendum to this ... the graphics at the beginning of the 2010 Annual Review & 2010 Annual Progress documents show a third store in Canada; in addition to the Toronto & Calgary stores, there is a another store location marked, seemingly to the north west of Calgary. It's not quite in the right place for Edmonton, but it's difficult to be sure given how basic the maps are ... interesting :-)

Brick specialists? Hahaha you gotta love that. My first job was selling and fitting tyres and they called me a tyre technician. Oh the glory.

ambo100 - A mystery shopper is someone employed by the company who poses as a customer and rates the staff.
When can we have one in the north of the UK??? I'm getting really annoyed now.
Anyone know why you have to be over 18 to work in the shop? Sounds a bit daft to me, what's wrong with over 16?

Patience ... they've had an amazing year in the UK in 2010 (see the annual report post), so I'd expect the UK to be a major focus for Brand Retail expansion in 2011 ...

Another store in Alberta would logically have to go to Edmonton. Probably in West Edmonton Mall. If it does go in there will they build one similar to the one in the Mall of America?

i think that it will be in the sherway gardens mall because back in december there was a sign that said new to this mall: lego and a bunch of others.

with the third store opening up north west of calgary it could be in banf national park, or jasper national park, or in british columbia.

I figured T.O. would be next on the list, but I figured Vancouver or Montreal after that. Another Alberta store is fine by me though. I suppose it'll be a loooong while before we see a store in Regina (if ever).

It means a physical store, something you can walk into & pick up a set, walk to a checkout, hand over your money & walk out with your set in a bag. Rather than a web-based retail store (like Amazon or eBay).

Sherway Gardens is not the most accessible place to get to in the city but at least the GTA will finally have a LEGO store.

Edmonton is the only place "NW of Calgary" so that must be the location. Sure, a store in Vancouver or Montreal would seem to make more sense but LEGO may have their reasons. Quebec is the home of MegaBloks after all. And we AFOLs in Vancouver either buy our stuff on sale or we go down to Washington state and buy at the US price (30-50% cheaper). If LEGO want to give us an MSRP at least close to the US price then "Yahoo!" for a local LEGO Store - otherwise "meh, so what."

^edmonton is ne of calgary (look at google maps) so i don't think that it would be there, it would also be nice to see the location that was on the map, because i couldn't find it on the lego site.

^R4-G9: The map you're looking for is the front cover of the Annual report (see the news item on Lego results for the link).

On a side note, we may be reading too much into this map: Looking at other bits that are visible, it is not accurate as to locations of stores that already exist, in several cases.

I applied for a Position last week. I can't wait for the store to open as hopefully there will be some hard to find and exclusive sets for sale. Not to mention PAB. Stoked!

Doh! I just left TO!! Why don't they make LEGO brand stores in Japan...There is only ClickBrick - which has excellent selection and retail prices, but no PAB. NO PAB!! grrrrr.
