I've ordered my two copies! I had to pay NZD 80 for my shipping but for those in the UK, there's free shipping for orders over GBP 25.

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 01 Apr 2011 03:35

Ordered last night, and already shipped by the time I woke up this morning - impressive. Glad that the free shipping is still in force, and it's also a great opportunity to pick up a few of the remaining 'holiday sets' (christmas tree + presents) currently down to 90p each (tree presents for loved ones or just useful little parts packs)

Posted by Dodge in Canada, 01 Apr 2011 03:42

Bought mine around 2hrs ago! Used some VIP points to cushion the monetary blow.

A note: When I used points towards my purchase I did not received the full amount of points for my new purchase. ie: used $80 worth of points and only received 74 new points instead of the full amount worth (154). Just didn't know it worked that way.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 01 Apr 2011 03:55

I ordered 3: I'll probably keep 2 locos and 3 sets of wagons/containers and sell on the spare loco/container handler.

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 01 Apr 2011 04:18

I woke up this morning, and the very first thing I did was log on, and order the Maersk train. By this afternoon, I'd gotten my shipping notice. I can't wait! I only ordered a single set. I normally keep my Lego trains nice and short, and the train itself comes with 2 carriages. That's enough for me (I bought 2 Emerald Nights to have two carriages, and then resold the second engine). But I'm so excited, I can't wait. So much love for well-designed, beautiful Lego trains.

It will require some intestinal fortitude, but I'm going to wait until the traditional 10% off Black Friday (Day after US Thanksgiving) sale to pick up the Maersk Train and Container ship. Coincidentally, does the rest of the world have a similar 10% off annual "Black Friday" sale?

Posted by dafish in Europe, 01 Apr 2011 05:56

reading the news on the availability of the series 4 minifigs, I opened the online shop and found I was able to add the Maersk train form my wish list as well on the DK site. So it's also available in Denmark from now although announced for the 15. Order on its way!

Posted by dafish in Europe, 01 Apr 2011 05:57

no free shipping though but full amount of points (hehe)

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 01 Apr 2011 06:26

"Coincidentally, does the rest of the world have a similar 10% off annual "Black Friday" sale?"
Nope - we don't have Thanksgiving in the UK, and hence miss out on the Black Friday madness that provides you guys in the U.S. with such good deals. :-(

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 01 Apr 2011 06:36

@rocao, you'll be lucky if there's any left by Thanksgiving!

Posted by jon11380 in United Kingdom, 01 Apr 2011 07:27

@rocao, I echo Huw's sentiaments especially regarding the ship, as that was initially only available to Maersk employees, so its realise may be shorter then most!

Posted by brixton in Canada, 01 Apr 2011 07:57

My wish list of LEGO trains keeps growing. I still need to get the Emerald Night and now LEGO comes out with this beautiful Mersk train.

Posted by BrianOg in France, 01 Apr 2011 09:13

Gosh, I was gonna do as Huw did, and had planned on buying 3 of these - then I ended up buying 7740 + a spare carriage on ebay, plus two and a half copies of 7597 (without minifigs) - no more money left ! Plus I bought 2 extra Emerald Nights last month too. Well I guess I can wait a few months yet, no free shipping in France in any case - though it is only €110 which is cheaper than in Ireland or Germany. This LEGO train fever is really getting to me at the moment

Posted by ssgdave in United States, 01 Apr 2011 09:13

Picked up two sets last night when I saw it was available. Hopefully this is a good sign of things to come involving the LEGO train theme.

Posted by MisterFubar in United States, 01 Apr 2011 09:22

I have a feeling I'm going to end up with 2 of these since I'm ordering one and I'm pretty sure the wife is going to surpise me with one.

The first photos of this set are what convinced me to get into LEGO trains and go ahead and order the Emerald Night. Now I'm hooked and have diverted a good chunk of my Star Wars budget to buying every train I can get my hands on.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 01 Apr 2011 09:23

@rocao - I know exactly what you mean by trying to wait. It can be difficult, however, to guage which sets will be around for how long. I bought my Space Shuttle immediately because I didn't want to risk it and then find that not only is it still around, but could have easily been paired in a number of online TRU sales. Yet for those that waited on the family home and limo/helo, they ended up out of luck. I did wait forever on the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Venator, and UCS Falcon and indeed managed to pick them up for great discounts during the few annual Lego Store sales. In looking at my ever increasing Gorm Shelf, I would say that I've managed to pick up at least 3/4 of my sets at pretty good discounts. Of course, this means that I've built up a queue of sets not yet purchased which includes Emerald Night, Diagon Alley, UCS Imperial Shuttle, AT-OT, and now the Maersk Train. And I still very much want to pick up another Emporium and Tantive. I try not to think about how many of these sets I could have picked up if I hadn't contracted the collectible minifigure fever. :o)

Posted by miies in Netherlands, 01 Apr 2011 09:43

Ordered the Maersk and an Emerald Night at the same time, since that one is rumored to disappear soon. Can't wait to get building :)

Posted by Ledezman in Costa Rica, 01 Apr 2011 10:14

Ordered it for my birthday. Along with emerald night and Tantive IV :P

Posted by OuterRimTradingCo. in Australia, 01 Apr 2011 10:14

Picked up 3 myself, but only 2 are for me. The other one will be given away on my website in May...

Posted by RtooDetoo in United States, 01 Apr 2011 11:21

Bought mine on March 31 around 6:40 pm central time. I checked at 5 pm but nothing was up yet, then after dinner I checked again. The site was live in the US to purchase Maersk Train, so I snagged one for myself. YEAH!!!

Posted by rocao in United States, 01 Apr 2011 12:38

@Huw: I think it'll be safe with respect to the Maersk train, and I already own 10152 (and am still kind of bitter they re-released), but the point is taken generally about the risk of having no stock by November. This past year, I purchased the Taj Mahal and Grand Carousel a week before they were discontinued. It really was just dumb luck, as the triggers were timely sales: Amazon dropped the price on the Taj Mahal by $50 and TRU.com had a BOGO 50% off with Grand Carousel in stock.

@yellowcastle: Emerald Night, UCS Imperial Shuttle, AT-OT were all available during the 2010 10% off Black Friday sale. Did you decide to wait for an ever better discount? FYI, I've seen the AT-OT as low as $199 on two occasions (Target and Walmart) and got one each time. Amazon had a 25% off sale that included Grand Emporium and Tantive during holidays 2010, also... coupled with no tax for me in CA, free shipping, and an Amazon visa card with ~3% rewards, suffice to say I bought a TON!

Posted by rainstorm26 in United States, 01 Apr 2011 13:41

Looking at the pictures of this set it appears that stickers are everywhere.
Plus to motorize this thing probably would cost almost as much as the set.
I guess if you love train sets, it still looks pretty cool.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 01 Apr 2011 14:32

@rocao - I've passed the AT-OT by a couple of different times during sales so that one just may not be in the cards for me. I haven't, however, seen any deals yet on the Emporium but will be holding out hope this Fall. I certainly don't scoff at 10% but every Thanksgiving I find myself really hoping for the 20% and 50% scratchers. :o) Either that, or lucking into an online TRU sale with some of these still in stock.

Posted by AETerry in United States, 01 Apr 2011 15:37

Oh man.... I'm really tempted to try and get this set. I don't normally care for the trains and have let a good many of them pass me by, but this one.... I'd like to get.

Posted by typo in United States, 01 Apr 2011 16:26

Its also available at Amazon.com...The USA site has it listed with Free Shipping!

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 01 Apr 2011 16:36

This looks like a great train and I wish I had the funds to get it, but I don't, so there's no point wistfully fantasising! On that note, if anyone is buying multiples of this set and doesn't need the minifigures, please can you contact me via my profile? I have a perfect MOC in my head using them (and the new torsos are cool! Thanks

Posted by rocao in United States, 01 Apr 2011 17:18

"I don't normally care for the trains and have let a good many of them pass me by, but... "

@AETerry: This always is how it starts :P

Posted by Wagnerml2 in United States, 01 Apr 2011 17:34

Ordered 2 today, plus my Birthday is next week, so hopefully I get some giftcards to order another one!

Posted by kurtgasper in United States, 01 Apr 2011 17:41

On my way to get 2 sets right now from the Lego store in KOP!

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 01 Apr 2011 17:57

@Huw 'I ordered 3: I'll probably keep 2 locos and 3 sets of wagons/containers and sell on the spare loco/container handler.'

Are you going to be keeping the minifigs?

Posted by M-Tron Hero Kodiak in United States, 01 Apr 2011 18:16

I ordered one on the 31st at 2130 PST, I assume since LEGO's HQ is in eastern US It was technically 0000 hours April 1st on thursday.

I was hoping that it was the case, and it was.
Should have bought two like a few others, but the wife said no. But I got one!

Posted by Wagnerml2 in United States, 01 Apr 2011 18:24

@ M-Tron - Shouldn't ask! Just have it shipped to work like me :)

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 01 Apr 2011 18:26

^ But then how do you get it in the house? :-)

Posted by vagabondnma in United Kingdom, 01 Apr 2011 19:00

Sold out in less than a day!
UK Lego Shop says - Back Orders 4th May
Glad I ordered mine in the early ours - it's shipped already.

Is there any way of telling which sets are to be discontinued by the way (as I have missed out on a few)

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 01 Apr 2011 19:09

I did not buy them yet.
I have saved up a lot of VIP points to get a nice discount per train set but when I heard the Lego store by me was not getting many and that the were rumored to be released on Monday I was not about to fight my way up there. Ill wait a week and hope I can pick up a few in a while

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, 01 Apr 2011 19:47

I'm hoping to pick one up the next time I visit my local Lego Store in May or June, but I wouldn't be too surprised not to see any copies at my store. For some reason, they're always lacking in copies of the Lego exclusives. (For example, I have never seen a single copy of Grand Emporium, Tower Bridge, or Emerald Night during any of my trips over the last year.)

Posted by rocao in United States, 01 Apr 2011 20:08

"I'm hoping to pick one up the next time I visit my local Lego Store in May or June, but I wouldn't be too surprised not to see any copies at my store."

If they are sold out, you can take advantage of the Lego company policy to ship you one for free since the Lego store is out of stock.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 01 Apr 2011 20:41

@rocao: While this is true it is debatable whether you can use the points or not(I do not believe I had a chance to last time I ordered something from Lego at the store)

Posted by rfheli in United States, 01 Apr 2011 20:55

If you were going to the Lego store in Austin TX, sorry, I purchased the 2 that were on the shelf, I hope they had more in the back. I did get a free small pick a brick cup though.

Posted by kurtgasper in United States, 01 Apr 2011 20:58

You can you use your points. Both to collect and redeem.

Posted by supereise in United States, 02 Apr 2011 00:12

I saw a couple at the lego store in Woodbridge, VA. They weren't on the shelf yet, they were lurking behind the cash registers but the manager said they were for sale.

Posted by legojango in United States, 02 Apr 2011 00:14

@rocao: Do you have more details on that policy? Like a link to LEGO's website?

Posted by xena6296 in United States, 02 Apr 2011 00:24

For members in U.S.:

You have an option to order the train from Amazon, with no tax and free shipping; you save approx. $24 vs. getting $5 worth VIP points. :)

Posted by pantenkind in United States, 02 Apr 2011 00:33

Just placed my order on Amazon.com. No shipping and no tax to illinois. Saved me about 22.00 on my order which easily offsets the point loss. Cant wait to get it. I was never into trains until a recent visit to mall of america where I bought every trainset they had and am now hooked. This will now be my 6th trainset. Love lego and now just looking forward to the new Star Wars sets so I can add them to my collection.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 02 Apr 2011 01:00

If I did not already have a ton of money into points to cash in and save a few bucks on the Trains, and was not near a Lego store, I would definitely go the Amazon route...

Posted by MCNwakeboard in United Kingdom, 02 Apr 2011 08:55

I'll probably order from Amazon too as the Tyson's Corner (VA) store was sold out within a few minutes of opening according the the employee who I talked to last night.

Posted by rocao in United States, 02 Apr 2011 10:48

If you do purchase the set on amazon, please consider using the following link so that brickset gets a small referral credit: http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Creator-Maersk-Train-10219/dp/B004QWZ5M6?&camp=213293&linkCode=wsw&tag=brickset-20&creative=388365

I bought two on April 1st at 12:01 am EST and got an email at 2 in the afternoon saying that it shipped. It will be arriving on Tuesday! What great service!
Glad that I bought it early, just checked Lego's site and its currently on back order for any of you who haven't picked one up yet.

Posted by scottwb2010 in United Kingdom, 04 Apr 2011 09:23

As this is now on back order in the uk you can,t get the free shipping that is currently on offer. Is this coincidence or Lego realising it was costing them too much

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 05 Apr 2011 10:47

This set looks Pricey

Posted by xena6296 in United States, 05 Apr 2011 17:54

The price at Amazon.com now goes up to $189.99! No more MSRP.

Posted by M-Tron Hero Kodiak in United States, 06 Apr 2011 00:35

The train is backordered for the U.S. as well. The Power Functions required to run the train is on backordered till april 22nd, of course this is a tentative date.

Posted by Lizardking in Austria, 08 Apr 2011 03:13

I just got mail from TLG, they sent the train out today. I ordered it on the 2nd of April.

Posted by GoldenT147 in United Kingdom, 08 Apr 2011 04:09

I guess it has sold out as people are buying 2 or 3 kits? Why is this?

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 08 Apr 2011 08:01

@GoldenT147 because most trains have more than 1 engine and more than 2 cars, so people want to make a more realistic model by buying multiple sets.

Also it is currently back in stock
