30%-off at Games Empire (Australian online store)

Games Empire is an independent toy store in Australia, and at the moment they are running a 30%-off sale on all LEGO items. They have in stock many sets that the larger retailers, like Big-W, Target and K-Mart, have already stopped selling.

Unlike other online retailers, I have found their prices to be consistent with LEGO Australia's RRP, so this 30%-off sale does have some genuine savings when compared to other Australian retailers.

    Happy shopping folks!

ironically even 30% off australian RRP costs more than just buying online from american websites including shipping as well.

Hanzocloud, what american sites do you order from?

Brickdownunder recently mentioned Barnes and Noble as shipping to Oz from the US for about $10. They had a deal on PotC sets but, unfortunately, everyone in Australia who ordered (including myself) had their order cancelled. However, this just seems to be relating to the PotC sets, others have said they are still shipping non-PotC sets.

If anyone else knows of some US websites, let us know.

Do you have to pay sales tax and import duties when you import stuff like this? In the UK we do and it can add 30-40% to the price of things making what looks like a bargain not such a bargain.

Only imports that exceed AUD$1000 are subject to a 10% GST (Goods & Services Tax).

That's high: in the UK it's on everything exceeding £40 or so!

The threshold used to be lower, but I think the cost of enforcing it exceeded the revenues raised so hence the higher limit. It caused a major stink over here around Christmas as alot of the the Bricks & Mortar stores were screaming about lost sales to overseas purchases. A consortium of them even tried to get the Government to lower the threshold.
