This is one of the few creator sets that I want three of to build all three models... Lego did an amazing job in designing this set! One of the best sets of 2011 in my opinion!

Posted by Routemaster in Germany, 10 May 2011 05:07

IMHO Lego becomes better and better. I really enjoy to get a Lighthouse instead of another car, another house, another helicopter. I also think the Creator line is totally underrated. I buy from nearly every Lego product line but I have the most building fun beside the Technic products with the Creator Sets. So keep up the good work, CREATOR-Team! Can't wait to put my hands on this set....

this is a nice set, i normally don't look at the creator sets, but i like this one a lot - it has now been added to my "must-haves for 2011" shopping list...

Almost 1000 people have marked this as a 'want' and I can see why. Can't wait til it arrives in the UK. Good timing as well, being released along with the revisit to the harbour theme.

It really is beautiful once built, especially in the dark when the light's on. This set is available now in the UK from TRU (as a TRU Exclusive) both instore and on their website.

Indeed a good job from the Creator-crew at Lego. The seagulls are very nice!!!

I'm not gonna buy it instantly, 'cause I'm a SW-collector. But maybe my son loves it, so that I'll buy it anyway...

YES! At least they're built birds and not those stupid solid piece chickens in the new kingdom sets. Lego is really going downhill with all these over the top new pieces and bricks. Where is the old, classic, simplicity of Lego going?

Posted by Jarod98 in United Kingdom, 10 May 2011 09:14

I've have my eye on this set ever since Brickset got it's picture, although the '5766: Log Cabin' also has my mind, so I'll be looking to add both of these to my collection. The nice thing is that these are the first-ever Creator sets with minifigs, so that adds more reason to buy them.

Its description mentions a rotating mirror, but I can't find any other information about it. What piece is it? Or is it a new piece?

Posted by jamesster in United States, 10 May 2011 12:04

Ooooh, do want. I don't usually buy Creator style stuff but this one looks pretty nice.

Posted by dougts in United States, 10 May 2011 12:06

@freeze992 -
the "mirror" is a 2x2 sloped brick and a 1x2 sloped brick stacked on top, each with a highly reflective sticker on them (the only 2 stickers in the set). a crank on the side of the tower turns the reflective sloped bricks, which when done in combination with the light being on give the impression of a rotating lens, much like a real lighthouse. It's actually a pretty good design and works decently

My Mom loves Lighthouses, so I'm pondering over getting this set to put together and then set somewhere on display for her.

Posted by dougts in United States, 10 May 2011 12:07

picked this up yesterday and my wife and I constructed it last night (i reviewed it). It's a great little set and I would highly recommend for Creator fans and fans of Lighthouses/nautical themes in general.

This one is at TRU for $39.99. Not a bad price for what you get. BTW on TRU's website they have the Harry Potter Knight bus for $34.99.

I love Creator sets, and at first I was skeptical of this one because the macaroni pieces seem like they wouldn't be terribly useful. But then I looked at the alternate builds and realized I just need to think outside of the box. I'll definitely be picking this one up.

Seems like LEGO is really getting interested in figs in Creator sets... first the Log Cabin Camper, then this Sailor dude! Looks like a must buy.

I love this set but again will pass on it as I am running out of space to put all my LEGO. Alien Conquests, Light House Island, the new Kingdoms sets and all of the City Harbour sets are all out at Toys R Us in Canada. They finally have the Rocket Centre set from the City Space theme too.

Posted by Binary Code in United States, 10 May 2011 20:21

This is looking like quite the amazing little set. Definitely one of the best creator sets, in my opinion, so far. I'll have to throw this in with my Pet Shop order.

Posted by sinfanti in Taiwan, Province of China, 10 May 2011 20:51

Yes, it seems like the line between Creator and City is getting blurred with all the minifig-scaled sets that TooMuchLego listed. I guess TLG realize that minifigs have become the stars of the show.

Posted by Divinity3d in United States, 11 May 2011 01:43

Luckily living close to Legoland all the parts in this set are already in my collection so ill save the space on my cc for that pet shop and all those new kingdoms sets popping up at TRU, with the chickens and the rams. YAY new sets!!!

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 11 May 2011 15:48

Looks really cool! Maybe I'll get it.

Saw this at Toy R Us a couple of weeks ago. It does look super sweet.

This set is available in the Portland Lego Store, just got this yesterday and was amazed that it's just $40. The Marina sets are also out that can go with this set to expand your lego city. Amazing built this one, I tried to do the other build before settling for the light house which ofcourse is the best one of the 3 build. Price is definitely worth the purchase.

@dougts: Thanks.

Posted by dougts in United States, 12 May 2011 15:46

no problem. if i remember, I'll try and take some closeup pics of the reflector apparatus tonight. It actually does "focus" the light in a specific direction. obviously, it isn't a very strong light, but you can see the beam as it hits nearby walls, etc. much more noticeable in the dark of course.

Posted by chadm76 in United States, 12 May 2011 21:54

I was looking at this yesterday at TRUS . I get $20 in TRUS rewards on 5/14, and will be picking this set up using the reward. It will be a great addition at 1/2 off!

I love this set and think it is a great addition to the Harbour themed sets being released this summer. I know the lighthouse is the principle model of this set and is clearly the best out of the 3 models, but how I would love a dedicated City Lifeboat Station, with a proper launching slipway and purpose built lifeboat. It could prove a very popular model if done well.
