Excellent; I wonder if they've got the new NERF guns in yet ... ;-)

"Coupon must be printed but not photocopied". Which is the difference?

Posted by MrFresh in United Kingdom, 13 May 2011 12:34

That's awesome, I was planning a "shopping trip" to TrU tomorrw :)

Posted by AnseltheCat in United Kingdom, 13 May 2011 12:47

Very nice, I think a trip to TRU is now in order. Thanks for posting this. :)

Posted by pantenkind in United States, 13 May 2011 13:08

It says nowhere on it about being uk only. Are you sure this would not work in U.S.?

Posted by JamesBenjamin in United States, 13 May 2011 13:27

Someone in the US should try it and post the results.

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 13 May 2011 13:28

I'm afraid I may have to pass on this one, it's been an expensive month!

Posted by Markey in Belgium, 13 May 2011 14:20

Thanks for this news James and Huw. I'll go have a look sunday in TRU, when I'm there to pick up the lego promotion set from the news paper, as my local WHSmith closes that day.

Posted by mrwhizzard in United Kingdom, 13 May 2011 15:15

Perfect - some birthday presents to be bought so this will come in very handy indeed :)

Posted by Jabba the Taff in United Kingdom, 13 May 2011 15:31

Hey! That picture has changed! Can't make your mind up, Huw?

Posted by jagdjh in United States, 13 May 2011 15:44

I doubt it would pass in the US. There are a couple of wording differences that would be noticed. Instead of 'till point' it would say 'register' and 'baby milk' is commonly 'formula'.

Posted by Markey in Belgium, 13 May 2011 15:55

LOL at that picture, must be a moderator playing a trick on Huw.

Posted by bahnstormer in Germany, 13 May 2011 17:06

have fun explaining the difference between a purchase and a transaction to the TRU staff...
I read the terms as you can purchase as much as you want as long as it is paid for in a single transaction, cant see the store staff agreeing to it tho.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 13 May 2011 17:07

^^ LOL, yes it looks like they are :-)

Posted by goldfish in United Kingdom, 13 May 2011 18:35

whoop!, thanks for the link.
Really wanted the Queen Anne's Revenge. Will be buying! I actually prefer these discounts to the 2 for 3, as at least your not forced in to multiple purchases. I hope it's a good set.

Posted by rocao in United States, 13 May 2011 19:42

@Huw: I thought I saw the ninjago sword in your set list already. Stocking up on multiples?

Posted by Dlakii in Australia, 14 May 2011 02:38

Come on, whoever pranked the article image - I'm sure you can pick a more embarrassing piece of merchandise than /that/. :P

Posted by airgap25 in United States, 14 May 2011 03:52

IS Anyone knowz coupon good for US?....Anyone?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 14 May 2011 05:28

I bought the sets that's in the picure as I type (Alien Conquest 7066): let's hope the mods don't play another prank :-)

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 14 May 2011 06:58

^ Me too - just couldn't resist !

Posted by trax_3 in United Kingdom, 14 May 2011 07:11

Went to the Haye's branch first up this morning. Found the Alien Conquest and new city sets near the entrance nowhere near the lego section. Picked up 7066, 7050 and 4644 using the coupon. Also got 2 polybags from the sun newspaper lego giveaway. The guy at customer services looked a little puzzled though when I handed over 2 coupons to get two polybags.

Posted by dangerousfluff in United Kingdom, 14 May 2011 10:59

got the lighthouse and slave 1 and saved 20% great where would we be without brickset its nice not paying the full price

Posted by goldfish in United Kingdom, 14 May 2011 14:11

I ended up getting 2 x Queen Anne's Revenge for £160. One to open, and one to pop away as a sealed collection piece. Hopefully I can do the same with the Black Pearl when it comes out.
At the till, by complete chance, the person in front of me was buying the Clone Turbo Tank and was literally just about to type in her pin, so I let her know I had a spare voucher. She was delighted.
The only thing the cashier made us do, was join the gold card reward scheme, as she said this was a condition of the voucher? I was happy to do this, as I got double points for the purchase and immediately rolled over the threshold for money off vouchers.
Brickset can be very useful! Thanks.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 14 May 2011 14:36

^ "join the gold card reward scheme, as she said this was a condition of the voucher" - she misled you, but it worked out OK ;-)
I took a spare voucher with me & passed it to the family behind us in the queue ... they were very happy (and were also buying LEGO :-) )

V. Cross now - No printer ink, and printer shop is shut on a Sunday :-(

Posted by GV357 in United States, 14 May 2011 18:17

so this does NOT work in the US?

Posted by washen in United States, 14 May 2011 18:46

FOR ALL WHO ARE IN THE USA: I attempted to use mine today. The bar code will not register with American machines, and there is no evidence of it on the ToysRUs website in the US. Therefore, you are entirely at the mercy of the store manager when it comes to the discount. Fortunately, my local TRU was more than gracious in discounting my items. There is NOTHING on the coupon that says it is limited to the UK (it says ALL stores after all), so you should have a legitimate argument if you decide to use it. However, your local TRU does reserve the right not to accept it! Please be courteous and respectful to your sales attendent if you try to use it! :)

Posted by washen in United States, 14 May 2011 18:46

P.S. Hope this is helpful to my fellow Americans.

Posted by Jameswh in United Kingdom, 15 May 2011 09:16

Thank you Brickset for giving the info about the 20% off coupon. Went with the kids to get them a fliker scooter each and I bought Queen Anne's Revenge and Whitecap Bay! :)

Posted by Pantboy in United Kingdom, 15 May 2011 10:12

thanks for posting the voucher, while i was in TRU picking up a free jack sparrow i got, lego star wars III clone wars for the wii, alien conquest 7050, and i couldn't resist grabbing a few series 4 minifigs at the till and one very happy son

Posted by goldfish in United Kingdom, 15 May 2011 10:24

With the Black Pearl coming up, I really hope they also do The Flying Dutchman to complete the 3 main ships, or at least the 3 ships with the most character.

Is there anyway of petitioning lego?

A Davy Jones minifig would be awesome.
