Does anybody know what this book is about?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 01 Jun 2008 16:12

The best description I can give it right now, since I only got it yesterday, is that's it's a coffee table history book. In other words, it looks great, has loads of nice pictures but no real substance.

It does, however, come with facsimilies of old catalogues such as the 1969 and 1974 full range catalogues and a 1978 (I think) Technic catalogue.

It's an essential purchase for the die-hard fan, but if you're strapped for cash, the £25 (c.$50) would be better spent on a normal LEGO set.

Does it have any of the pictures of the upcoming sets? And judging by the price tag, I think I'll leave it.

No new sets; it covers history only

I went to order it $50 australian I could live with then another $25 - $40 for postage. I think ill wait for a bit

Includes a copy of the patent - Yep, definately for diehard fans. I hope the chinese get to see this documentation. perhaps it should also be shown to the Torro brand, I hate how people sell lego that isn't lego.
900 million different combinations - I wonder how they arrived at that number.

$50 seems like too much for just a book. I'm a big lego fan but $50 would be better for a Agents set or for saving up for the gunship

Posted by Jimmy Hopkins, 02 Jun 2008 16:29

What is the Torro brand? just asking.

This book is also available in a german version at S@H.

The description is the same as above by scholte23 except that it is in german.

What are the chances of this coming to the US??? I would LOVE to get this book!!

The torro brand is like megabloks, basically a copy of lego that isn't lego. I was just saying that the patent should be shown to companies that make that.

The book (English version) is also available on LS@H Ireland and many other European countries for euro 29.90.

Amazon.com has it listed as a July 15 release for the US. It will probably be available is US/Canada bookshops soon.

I might get a copy from Amazon as they are usually cheaper but mainly as I don't think they will charge $25 for postage... we will see

Had a look at this book in the lego shop in Milton Keynes (uk). For a book that is supposed to detail history of lego, i think it is essentially a waste of time and money. I am very disappointed as this could have been a much better colourful book if more thought had been given.
