If you're eagerly awaiting for this set to be released in your country, take a look at the excellent review that includes videos and loads of pictures over at TechnicBRICKs. It seems the guys over in Portugal got their hands on two copies of the set early and built them at the PLUG event held over the weekend.

It looks great, can't wait to get my hands on one!

The review is too long for me as I'm not much of a Technic fan, not a reader, but I can tell this will be a legend (as Alemas said). 2011 really seems like a big year for Lego.

@legomaniac - The set is $274.99, so enjoy spending the other $125!

Did I read that review right? This set weighs over 2kg..? wow..

Hmmmm - Technic (shudder)

Ah well - each to their own I suppose.

That's a great review. I will be patient. I will be patient. I will be patient. Is it August yet???

@AitchJay - No, no! I meant the weight. Really!
2.048 parts + spares ; 2.030g w/o batteries. :)

This set really is great :) I was very lucky to get to build it. I hope that the issues that are being discussed do not put back the launch they are so trivial/minor and easily fixed. This set is crying out to be heavily modded! I cant wait to get one of my own I've already planned a few things to change...

Hi Mike - nice pics of you in the TechnicBRICKS article!

really cool technical review, looks like a great set, not really that many parts when you consider over 800 parts are pin connectors and 2-3 stud axle connectors. Fun to see the videos inbetween too. I do wonder if I was suppose to see any difference between the axle turning with or without a gear on it. Maybe a shirt in the last video would've been good too...

I don't think I've anticipated a set so much since last year's Excavator (not that long ago then). It doesn't look to have quite the level of complexity in its gearbox as either of the last two Technic flagships, but the suspension and pneumatics are easily some of the most complex workings since the legendary 8868 or 8880.

Looks like the 8110 release date has been put back until October according posts on Eurobricks.
Some speculation about a fault with the Panhard rods, the pump or wheel to chassis fouling, but nothing definite.

The anticipation mounts.

@Wiseman_2, do you think the gearbox-complexity for the Excavator (8043, I guess) is high? I have several models and the 8258 has an impressive gearbox for the crane. I mean it's not rocketscience, but it also needs to be possible to make for first timers in Lego technic.
Anyway, I hope this panhard-issue is not setting back the releasedate that much and can be solved by the means of a service-kit, like was the case with the 8043.
@Conchas, thanks for the great reviews and detailed info on the separate parts. Saw the review via YT and me and my boys love it. As soon as it's in, I'll buy it. Love that they used orange for a change., and not only yellow/black/gray/red.
@Lego: keep up the good work. This could just as well have been in the Collectors range (10000) together with other great models.
But there was also a rumor that Mercedes was going to sell this model. Couldn't find it in their goodies-shop (yet).

I can't wait to get my hands on one of these! I wonder if Lego will put together a Technic set for the Porsche 911 50th anniversary in 2014...
