We've been getting reliable reports from multiple sources that the Series 5 Collectable minifigs are now available from W.H.Smiths stores in the UK.

They aren't in all stores yet, but we've heard confirmed reports from Hull, Darlington & Telford; expect them to appear in all stores over the next couple of days. As always, phone ahead to check availability before undertaking a long or expensive journey.

    The chase is on!

Thanks to Neil, Jas, burakki62, & Omnius for the info.

The need for a frantic frenetic chase are long over. Many stores still have bundles of series 3 and 4 mini-figures. Series 5 will be on shelves for some time.

I wonder if they have any in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich.

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 26 Jul 2011 08:51

I pass a WHSmiths on my way home tonight. I'll pop in and see if I can buy a box!

Posted by legomaniac in United States, 26 Jul 2011 09:15

I wonder if they finally found a name for the Alaskan ice fisher or Indian fisher :)

1st time in the series that I like each one.

Posted by voypro in United States, 26 Jul 2011 09:21

Agree with Brixton, No rush. My local TRU started to keep ser 4 behind the counter. Now they have like 6 boxes piled up and no takers. Now they are back on the shelf at $3.49, with no takers. and the current BOGO should put them at $2.61, again few buyers.

I think my buying habit is going to change on series 5. Instead of instantly buying a set and seeking duplicates of ones I want more of (in this case, dwarf) I am just going to look for my dups first and get the rest of the set when a BOGO sale hits later.

Posted by Pawel Kaminski HWS in Poland, 26 Jul 2011 09:29

They are also available in Poland. (E.Leclerc super markets.) There is no thanks to me? I gave you the info too... Thanks alot... -_-

Posted by gime in Poland, 26 Jul 2011 09:58

I still don't have the Musketeer from S4!
With series 5 I will be trying a different approach. I'm going to buy one full box, do the lurking and resell all that I don't want.

Posted by TooMuchLEGO in United States, 26 Jul 2011 10:48

Already?! I just now started getting my Series four! O_O (Sorry about the typo before, LEGO Universe has gotten to me :P)

Posted by JDLego in Canada, 26 Jul 2011 11:41

Thats awsome, my sister just went on a trip tp the UK, and before she went I was looking for stores that carried LEGO and I found Smiths, I told her to take a look in the store and I said if you find any Minifigures Series 5 pick em up for me!!!!! But if she doesnt I got a backup, for all you canadians I know a couple of stores you could check out, Turtle Pond Toy Store gets there shipment in on august 20th, Toys R Us , Walmart said august 16th, thats were I found the first boxs of series 4. I just completed Series 4 so I`ll be on the hunt for these, but I Figure that If I buy the whole box I dont have to waste more money on doubles, then with the extras I trade for ones I dont have in Series 1,2,and 3 or sell them. Anyways i cant wait any longer, I NEED THEM!!!!!

Posted by Dimefield in Canada, 26 Jul 2011 11:55

Only missing the hockey player for series 4... in Canada... imagine that. Havent seen series 4 anywhere for about a month

Posted by brixton in Canada, 26 Jul 2011 11:58

@Pawel Kaminski

I once e-mailed in a news story some time ago and wasn't credited. I haven't bothered since.

Posted by legogirl19 in United States, 26 Jul 2011 12:06

For those of you in the US, they are available for pre-order on TRU.com @ 2.99 each and they do qualify for the BOGO sale, but only 1 discount per order!

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11807192

I, too, think I'll take my time getting these, no seemingly immediate rush!

Posted by Zelyonii-Zaktan in Russian Federation, 26 Jul 2011 12:15

I have got them all in the Czech Republic yesterday)

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 26 Jul 2011 12:34

@Pawel - apologies; I've been away for the last week & am gradually catching up on all the email we've received from brickset members.

@brixton - sorry you feel slighted; we get lots of emails from members every day. We can't possibly credit everyone who sends us the same info ... the news about the 2012 TIE Fighter, for example, we've had something like 20 emails about that & I saw it elsewhere on-line before I got any of the emails ... anyway, I've just searched through over 4000 emails & I can't find any from you, so I can't make amends.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 26 Jul 2011 13:07

I wonder if these will be available in the Halloween section at Target this year?

Posted by jackmcar99 in United States, 26 Jul 2011 13:18

any news about hitting us besides online pre order? darn, it sounds weird to say, but i hgonestly think im ganna miss the rush, and in result maybe these guys arent going to be as popular as lego had hoped, which sadly to say may result in them being discontinued after series 8. :(

but theres not to many i want from this series as much as the ones i wanted from series 4, all i really want is the dinosaur and the mafia guy, wrestler, the crown, and the axman.

Come on WHSmith Eastbourne... I shall have a look tomorrow. I need this after my epic sadness at hearing that the new Lego Star Wars won't be in the Brighton Lego store until mid August!

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 26 Jul 2011 13:55

Cardiff apparently had a couple of boxes left earlier this afternoon ...

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 26 Jul 2011 14:33

Any news if they are in Blackpool or Birmingham?

Posted by mikeyob in United States, 26 Jul 2011 15:22

Swindon WH Smith now has Series 5 in stock! After a quick phone call I managed to reserve a completely sealed and unopened box! From the box I was able to get three complete sets! Good luck out there!

Posted by bodybomb3 in United Kingdom, 27 Jul 2011 07:20

@CapnRex101 - I was in Brighton a few days ago and I was disappointed to see the store calendar too but after talking to one of the staff at the store he told me they already have the new star wars sets in the Brighton Toys R us. That might be worth checking out. But I am going to check all the local stores today hopefully.

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 27 Jul 2011 09:11

No joy in Cirencester. As per djs666 above - I tried Swindon yet they had put all boxes out and they were "flying off the shelves" I'm told. Luckily Malmesbury had them in so I'm now a proud owner of a sealed box!

BTW - I notice that as of today all the new Star Wars sets are now available on the John Lewis & Tesco websites!

Posted by Gregorovich in United Kingdom, 27 Jul 2011 10:18

I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked into the Hamilton WHSmiths branch and saw one unopened box plus one that was around 3/4 full. I sadly only had enough for 3 figs, so I managed to feel out the Zookeeper, Cavewoman and a Cleopatra. They were £1.99 each. They're all gorgeous minifigures, and seemed quite good quality. I only had a couple of issues with my figures (black marks on zookeeper's leg, Cavewoman's hip was quite a distinctly different shade of tan from her printing), but they were hardly big problems. Hopefully yours will all be perfect. I think I'll go back soon to get the clown (I want the pie), the fitness instructor (I want the torso and I need that boombox for my comic), the Gangster (I need the violin case for my comic), and possibly the boxer (the beaten up head will come in useful...).

In case anyone wants to know, the way I felt them out was:

Zookeeper - if you shake all the parts to one corner, you should be able to find the banana quite easily. Just feel around a bit, and the shape of it should be quite clear.

Cavewoman - the club was what I found easiest. If you feel a big part, separate it from the rest. Once you've done that, it should be quite easy to tell what it is. If you think you've got it, squeeze around the packet quite hard, and then you may be able to find the rubbery hairpiece.

Cleopatra - feel around for big parts, and the dress slope should be rather easy to find. Just feel to see if it is that part. Then, if you're still unsure, feel for the hairpiece. It's quite a smooth sort of dome, but feel around it to see if there's a square shaped hole at the front.

I hope this helps someone!

I looked in WH Smiths in Cheltenham and found nothing but series 4 minifigures.

Posted by Ad the brickmaster in United Kingdom, 27 Jul 2011 11:24

They're in WHS Guildford

Posted by burakki62 in United Kingdom, 27 Jul 2011 15:45

All the WH Smiths in Hull now have stock, Kingswood just got them in today.

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 28 Jul 2011 05:14

I've got a box on reserve from John Lewis, which should arrive in a couple of weeks.

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 28 Jul 2011 07:16

I've gone through my box of series 5 figs and can confirm you get:

5 x Boxers, Grenadier Guards & Zookeepers.
4 x Cavewomen, Detectives, Dinosaur Suit Men, Fitness Dancers, Lumberjacks & Small Clowns
3 x Ancient Egyptian Women, Dwarfs, Eskimos, Gangsters, Male Snowboarders, Murmillos & Graduates

A lot fairer than the previous series that contained only 2 scientists.

Posted by xcrossx in United Kingdom, 28 Jul 2011 07:36

@ensign_dave

Thanks for that info, I was going to ask if anyone knew the numbers that each box contains.
5 Guards is very good to hear, I wanted to get a few of those. My eyes will light up every time I see a fresh box!

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 28 Jul 2011 09:22

Got 12, two doubles (from what ensign_dave has said I am lucky because the doubles are the Dwarf and Graduates) and the store had one box.

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 28 Jul 2011 13:40

Sorry for the double post, but I saw a 2012 LEGO book, like the one for 2011 in WHS. I also got last week the new Brickmaster City and saw the NinjaGo one. E-mailed Huw twice about this, and, back on topic, the figures are identified by dots.

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 28 Jul 2011 13:52

Oh deary me, no luck in WHSmith Eastbourne, but they say any day now, so I will have to keep waiting...

Posted by lemaskdemasque in United Kingdom, 28 Jul 2011 16:29

WH smith Enfield have them, gotz me 5 of them. cant get too many from behind the til. Theres too much chance of d...d...doubles. I can hardly bring myself to say the word!

Clown-feel for the pie and hat

Guard-easy one; feel for the large hat

Snow Boarder-clues in the title, feel for the snow board

Graduate-feel for the hat. (be careful not to damage the fabric neck wear)

Zoo Keeper-feel out that monkey!

Yay my mum picked up 5 series 5 minifigs for me today!

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 29 Jul 2011 07:13

Picked up 6 today from TRU Plymouth - 2 Gladiators, 3 Dwarves, and a Gangster.

Posted by bodybomb3 in United Kingdom, 29 Jul 2011 07:20

Bad luck CapnRex101, they had them at my local one. I got seven packs and In them I got: The Grenadier Guard, the Eskimo, the dwarf, the cavegirl, the gladiator and a double of the aerobics teacher. I thinks thats pretty good but my sister got two packs and got Godzilla and the gangster! Lucky.

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 29 Jul 2011 15:18

@bodybomb3 - I have been told 3 days in a row now and been told 'they'll be in tomorrow', and where did you go to get them? It sounds like you live quite near to me in Eastbourne, perhaps the WHSmith you went to is quite nearby?

Oh and on an off topic subject, I have my hands on the new Argos catalogue and it is great, 4 full pages of nothing but Lego!

Posted by The Butchers Boy in United Kingdom, 30 Jul 2011 06:58

They're in WHSmith in the Arndale Centre in Manchester.

Posted by bodybomb3 in United Kingdom, 30 Jul 2011 10:07

@CapnRex101 - I went tot the Worthing ones to get mine, there are two near me so I've been buying from them. The main WH Smiths in the town has, what appeared to be, only one box that was open. Oh and I also got the Argos Catalogue, some great items and I was surprised to learn that the 7877 Naboo Starfighter isn't an exclusive and is available in most retailers!

But back to CapnRex101, when I was visiting the Brighton Lego Store, a staff member told me the new sets were in Toys R us but I'm just going to get mine from the Tesco website because they have a promo code that gives you 20% off all toys.

Posted by coyotelily in United Kingdom, 30 Jul 2011 10:18

Managed to buy a full box in Thirsk North Yorkshire

Posted by mr_pookiebear in United Kingdom, 30 Jul 2011 10:51

Cheshire oaks WHSmith has them in their '3 for 2' offer. I got an unopened box for £79.40!

Posted by legover in United Kingdom, 30 Jul 2011 11:00

Hi all. W H Smiths in Halesowen has series 3, 4 & 5 on display near the till. Picked 5 series 5 at random (my teenage son was giving me his 'your being a geek' face when I started feeling the bags.) Got the cavewoman, dancer, gladiator & 2 boxers. Happy hunting. :-) New argos catalog is out too, with the new summer sets in.......

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 30 Jul 2011 13:09

I found them finally, but not in WHSmith, in my local Toymaster, who also had the Naboo Starfighter and many other new Lego sets. I was very disappointed and surprised to discover that the Geonosian Starfighter was not available in Argos, but I have got it now anyway!

Posted by weirdduck in United Kingdom, 30 Jul 2011 14:35

Deffo in Brum. Got Gladiator, Zookeeper, Gangster, Sherlock, Cleopatra and Grenadier. Pretty much all the ones I was after. Had a limited feel of all- my accuracy is improving with each series.

Posted by rossg2742 in United Kingdom, 30 Jul 2011 15:07

Series 5 available in Toys R Us in Edinburgh, Kinaird Park. Looked like they were selling really quickly though.

Posted by Nitwit180 in United Kingdom, 30 Jul 2011 18:05

I found these at toys r us southampton

Posted by Delatron in United Kingdom, 31 Jul 2011 03:47

Like CapnRex101, not yet in our Smiths but found in Toymaster in Derby. My wife was kind enough to grab 10 bags from around the box for me. Random selection yielded 3 dancer/ fitness girls, boxer, zoo keeper, gladiator, lumberjack, clown, graduate and cavewoman. Very nice.....

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 31 Jul 2011 05:08

They still have series 4 in Legoland Windsor - so behind the times! They did have all the new Star wars summer sets though including the ltd edition hoth base (at a whopping £91!).

Posted by DOLEGO1986 in United Kingdom, 31 Jul 2011 05:34

I found series 5 in Toys R Us in Swansea. There were just 4 figs left in the box!

So I took the box with the 4 figs to the checkout. I was very annoyed that the checkout man said I couldn't have the box :( - as I have all the other boxes all from the same shop.

I'll try again when I go back to TRU in a couple of weeks.

Going to Tesco later to see if I can find more and hopefully a display box too.

Posted by Gregorovich in United Kingdom, 31 Jul 2011 09:38

WHSmiths in Hamilton had another two boxes out today. Two of the boxes were unopened, and the other two seemed messed up but mostly full. Each figure was still £1.99, but unfortunately I only had enough change left from my shopping to buy one :(. I managed to feel out the Aerobics Lady quite quickly, so I bought her. I love her boombox and torso, both of which will be used in my Flickr comic.

I managed to feel her out, first by getting the radio. Feel for a block, then feel at the front for textured bits and at the top for the handle. Then I found the hair, just to be sure.

I hope to be back for more soon!

Posted by JDLego in Canada, 31 Jul 2011 12:42

Anybody seen them in Ireland yet? If so what WHSmiths were they at?

Posted by The solitary dark in United Kingdom, 31 Jul 2011 15:31

Friendly staff at Legoland Windsor told me today that they will be putting stock out tonight after closing as their official launch date from lego for series five is August 1st. They had put out a lot of other new summer sets already as they had not been given controlled release dates, but Lego had been specific about Series 5 CMF's. Tesco and Argos may well be following the 'Rules' that WHsmith havent!

Posted by Gregorovich in United Kingdom, 02 Aug 2011 12:36

Have these started to appear in Argos yet, seeing as it is now August?

Posted by Mr_Le_Pook in United Kingdom, 02 Aug 2011 12:51

WHSmith in Cheshire Oaks had series 5 minifigs in their "3 for 2" offer at the weekend, (may still be on)!
I got a complete box for £79.40.
