as usual I used it to rant about the ridiculous price differences for the same set across the globe... I still hope to see the day Lego gives a decent answer why this injustice exists..

This time they were asking about Lego events. I told them my image of the perfect Lego event for the U.S., not too far from the ones that I have read about on Brickset that exist in the UK.

too many adults showing off their sets were the biggest, c'mon.. 10,000 star wars troops, I wonder who they had to sleep with to get them cheap.. try explaining to my kid how they could have so many.. It shouldn't be about how many and how much they have, but be limited to smaller designs with limits on pieces they can use like on Euro Bricks.
make children feel like they could do that too and it's not about how much money they have, making them feel inferior and giving them a complex..

I would like to see Lego build sets like the adults clubs usually do.. Lego should make the big city sets and things the clubs only dream of. Not stupid statues of people or things.. Lego need to bring pieces to the Lego clubs out there and let them free build at the events and then showcase what they built.. instead of letting the club have huge displays.. Lego should be the biggest..

If lego brought the pieces the clubs needed and then the clubs built the huge things out of them, that would be better.. then lego could take the pieces back after each event.. Lego could also own the copyrights of the ideas the lego groups just gave them in their displays they just built for future designs of sets..
its a trade off,, all the legos you could ever want for one event and then lego gets the ideas for future themes..

Some people have access to cheaper LEGO bricks. Some have been building a collection for years and/or have the money to obtain a large collection.

I don’t disagree with LEGO bringing bricks to free-build. At Kidsfest Chicago our LUG had a chance to build a large skyscraper out of nothing but 2x4 green bricks. It was done with the help of about 10 people and accomplished in only hours. We had a lot of fun and so did the few people who saw us working.

legowomen1980p, it doesn’t sound like you are part of a club. I don't really want to argue but making creations to display at events is not something that can be done in a matter of hours at the event itself no matter how many pieces you have access to. I'm not saying cool things can't be created in less than 48 hours but what would be the point to create something and hand it over to LEGO. Another part of events is also to engage with the public and answer questions. That would not be possible if you spent your entire time building. Also, most MOCs take hours upon hours to create especially to look as amazing as most do. You also have to remember most LEGO events are fan events and the point of the event is to have the fans showoff what they make.

Hmm... They certainly have something in their minds about fan events. It seems like they want to do more fan events, but can't decide exactly what people will respond to.
I wish LEGO KidsFest came closer to my town.
There are already LEGO conventions and events. What can LEGO do that the others can't?
They need to sponsor some kind of AFOL fan event with prizes, massive pick-a-brick walls, LEGO branded items (T-shirts, etc); all designed to suck up AFOL money.

Prices are unfair though. I would've complained more about that than prices being too high. I'd suggest Lego lower the Lego in CANADA to the US prices... our dollar is higher than theirs!!! You'd think with the two countries so close to each other they'd get treated the same!? NOT AT ALL.

What the heck is KidsFest? And when was the last LEGOWorld? Neither seemed to have reached my attention in all my years here or at Lego.com.

I told them the ideal Lego convention would be filled with MOCs created by fans, LUGs, AND official Lego Set Designers. Also there should be panels with these Set Designers, because I would want nothing more than to know how exactly these thousands of sets were thought up.

I find it sad that Florida (and other states too) never get to have their own conventions, at least for TFOLs & KFOLs. Also pretty certain that these AFOL conventions that go on have an age restriction. I see that as unfair discrimination. Why can't us kids & teenagers, or those that live in these states can't go to apparently great events? The only taste of them I get is the yearly "Art of the Masters" event at Downtown Disney where outside the LEGO Store there some groups the GFLUG (Greater Florida Lego Users Group) come and show off their creations, and its great!

So there's my rant for the day. Thanks for reading.

I said that i would like to have more interactivity with employees...but not the management that we usually see.
I think it is important for us to talk with people...
well at least it is my view...
we have a lack of events in Northern part of Europe as well in my view.
when i see what is happening in the US or UK...I am sometimes jealous! ;)

Here in the Philippines small sets usually is 2x the US price. As for BIG sets, it reaches up to 3 to 4x the US price.

Being that pretty much none of what they were asking after exists in Australia, I lol'd profusely at the questions. If this does contribute to getting a LEGO store here, I'm down with that. I see, though, that they're wising up about being bombarded with questions concerning pricing (see: abominable Australian prices) and didn't provide a question wherein an answer concerning it would be particularly feasible. Crafty, LEGO. Crafty.

I see the same thing as macmon here in Taiwan, but I still have to admit that the Canadians have the most reason to complain. Perhaps some enterprising Canuck should work out a barter scheme that matches up Canadians who want to buy Lego in the US with Americans who want to buy prescription medications in Canada.

legowomen1980p: I took the survey, and I don't know to which question your answer could have been a response because there wasn't anything about AFOL events, only LEGO events.

You clearly continue to carry a chip on your shoulder and incorrectly perceive that people displaying large collections are doing so to slight you. If you're serious about wanting to explain to your child how people accumulate large collections, I'll help you: in nearly every circumstance they pay for them. I have near absolute confidence they were not obtained via sexual favors.

We recently concluded an event where LUGs in northern California displayed an impressively large LEGO town. Every child I witnessed was smiling and wide-eyed in amazement. When they saw an official LEGO model in the display -- a car in the road, a train passing by, a modular building -- that they also owned, they excitedly pointed it out. Not one child left weeping that they wouldn't be getting the entire display for their birthday.

You have a right to your opinion and expressing it, but when it continues to be raised when it doesn't even fit the question, I'm compelled to believe that TLG will, at best, ignore it, and, at worst, think AFOLs are an ungrateful lot and have misgivings if they should do anything additional to seek out our ideas and cater to our interests.

As for the survey, I mentioned ideas that could help expand fan presence in stores but I also thanked them for the opportunity to take part in the LUG Showcase Program. LEGO does a good job of reaching out to fan groups and I think that it is a good start but I guess it depends on each individual store manager how exactly the store reaches out to fans.

I thought it would be cool to have fan displays on weekends aside from the LUG Showcase. I also thought it would be cool if LUGs could shop at the store after hours for a half an hour or so like I know a store does down in Birmingham. Why not work with the store to order parts from PaB that aren't on the wall? My stores have changed very little in the 1 plus years they have been open. If we don't suggest how the relationship can be strengthened than it will either remain what it is or deteriorate. The fan community does a great deal promoting LEGO to the world and all parties involved benefit in one way or another. Watch the local news in the Virginia area next weekend and you'll see what I mean about LEGO benefiting as there will be countless news reports about Brick Fair.

Anyone who is upset by the LEGO group extending some benefits to LUGs should either join a LUG or create one. Anyone who is upset that there isn't a LEGO Store near them should take every opportunity they can to voice a desire for a store to LEGO.

What does everyone want to see or do at an official Lego exhibition?

I want to swim in a pool filled with 1x1 round plates. The reality of this may differ somewhat from my imaginings.
