I'm currently on vacation with just my iPad and a very expensive Internet connection so I'm sorry that news has been slow these last couple of days. I think bluemoose is overseas as well. If you know anything newsworthy worth telling everyone, please leave a comment here.

@Huw - Both the US and the UK Lego website have the rest of the 2011 summer line. The Star wars, Spongebob, Technic and Hero Factory.

Posted by legolasher66 in United States, 01 Aug 2011 08:46

@Huw- I went to TRU yesterday, and guess what I found? A "Lego Champion" game! I couldn't believe it! I don't know if anyone else has found them, or if I just totally missed something and this is old news, or what.

Posted by grandbuilder2001 in United Kingdom, 01 Aug 2011 08:52

On Lego site they have the instructions for the 2 new Spongebob sets.

Posted by jinxjinx550 in United States, 01 Aug 2011 09:09

I've seen a few each of the Spongebob sets at my local TRU in Maryland. No sign of Series 5 minifigs.

Posted by vpustote in United States, 01 Aug 2011 09:11

Huw, no worries, have fun on your vacation!

I haven't really heard anything interesting in awhile anyways.

Posted by K-nut in United States, 01 Aug 2011 09:13

Toysrus online has most of the Summer Hero Factory line.
Edit: TRU online also has Minifigs series 5 for pre-order.

The 7877 Naboo Fighter is available only at target (and of course the lego store) for $49.99. I speculate that it is more pricey because it is limited addition and most of the figs are new.

Posted by jlegofan in United States, 01 Aug 2011 09:17

@legolasher66- Yesterday I was at my local Target and also saw a Lego Champion Game.

Posted by legomaniac in United States, 01 Aug 2011 09:21

4 new Technic sets are availiable on LEGO.com US. :D The Unimog, flatbed truck, bucket truck, and extreme cruiser.

The Unimog is only $199 USD. Not too bad. LEGO.com must of just put it up, because the pictures won't load for the unimog

Posted by Wiseman_2 in United Kingdom, 01 Aug 2011 09:25

Rather interestingly, the Creator Cool Cruiser *still* hasn't shown up anywhere.

I found the new DK brickmaster books at Wal-mart..

The city book...includes a police officer and crook.... and about 140 pieces, some of the items you get instructions to build include a vault, police car, police helicopter, and police swamp boat

The ninjago book.....includes a frakjaw and red ninja and about 130 pieces......some of the items you get instructions to build a shrine, a skeleton robot battlesuit...

these books are selling for around 20$ a piece

the lego.com prouducts page has been updated, well, with star wars at least... most new prouducts have mini videos, you should see for your self.

UPDATE. the new super star destroyer has been added to the prouducts page, but has no picture and you can't check the price, or see the box.

It's kinda unofficial but definitely worth knowing about: 10 figures from (presumably) Minifigures Series 6 have been revealed: Statue of Liberty (!), grey alien, highlander/Scottish warrior, leprechaun, butcher, mechanic, female emo/goth skateboarder, genie of the lamp, minotaur and space heroine. Pretty exciting news! :)

i don't know if it's an official offer, or if my local lego store (austin, texas, usa) just had an overload of items. yesterday with my purchase i got a pile of free stuff... a Lego Club Max keychain (already on sale for 1/2 off i think), a Ninjago magnet set 853102, and the Lego Classic Shoulder Bag... original MSRP of those 3 items is a total of $50US. i don't know what the minimum spend is to get the items, but i spent between 250 & 300.

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 01 Aug 2011 10:53

My local TRU has the Podracer set,the sith nightspeeder Ewok attack,The 2 new Spongebob sets and the Jet ski polybag. But no sign of series 5.

Posted by Ha876 in United States, 01 Aug 2011 10:53

@doodlebird
I went to the austin store the same day and I got the keychain and the magnet set but not the bag. Must have been because I only spent $63. I think they were giving away the free stuff to either get rid of stock or celebrate their 1 year anniversary, though truly, I don't really care.

@vampro, I own the City Brickmaster and have seen the NinjaGo one. There are new NinjaGo books called Kai/Cole and Zane/Jay, witch provide information on the Ninjas named on the cover. There also new books with a minifigure like the old Atlantis ones and the books are from the City and NinjaGo themes. All the new Harry Potter books and Series Five/Four, along with everything I have named, was at last week at WHS, Erdington.
@LukeSkywalker, and I only finished Series Five today...

fbtb are reporting a free mini Hogwarts Express with every purchase of Diagon Alley at S@H. No word on whether this is available outside the US yet. This is also a new set to the Brickset database, but no sign of a set number yet.

Posted by collectormom in United States, 01 Aug 2011 17:25

@brickeater100: that 20% off might put Lego back down to regular retail now, since they have a pretty high mark-up

Posted by lukehankenobi in United Kingdom, 01 Aug 2011 17:28

7956 Ewoks - £26 (£15.27 in the US)
7959 Geonosian - £30 (18.32)
7965 Falcon - £133 (85.86))
7962 Pods - £82 (54.36)
7961 Sith - £60 (42.14)
7877 Naboo - £41 (30.54)
7879 Hoth Base - £92 (54.97)
7957 Nightspeeder - £26 (15.33)
7964 Frigate - £103 (73.59)

It's a complete scandal. Why are we paying so much more for a European toy. Come on Lego surely you have to address this. I am outraged! And, I hope you are too. Why don't you let the nice people at Customer Services know how you feel.

Posted by LukeSkywalker in Ireland, 01 Aug 2011 17:32

^Agreed, I don't think I'll be buying a single set from this latest wave until I see some significant discounts. The pricing has gotten way out of control. The only one I might consider getting early is the Hoth Echo Base, and not until shop@home offers a free shipping promotion.

@lego lego lego: the SW Republic Frigate is £102-99 at both Argos and Lego, and the prices for Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator and the Naboo Starfighter are marginally cheaper at Lego.co.uk than at Argos (by £1-3).

Posted by elliotanddad in United Kingdom, 02 Aug 2011 07:14

If you go to Tesco Direct with the current toy promotion the SW Republic Frigate works out at £79.98

None of those prices for the Technic sets are accurate, as they are the same price on shop.lego.com as in Argos, except the Unimog which is actually cheaper through Lego than Argos.

Posted by SJPlego in United States, 02 Aug 2011 13:57

Good eyes, Alemas.

I just read through all the Series 5 bios, and I must say - the Detective is the new Space Villain. He's a pretty awesome-looking minifigure made even better by the nostalgic references in his bio. The Brickster's Baffling Brick-Napping? LEGO Island. The Sam Sinister Switcheroo? Adventurers. The Mystery of Timmy's Nose? Time Cruisers.

I also appreciated the other nod to the Adventurers theme in the Zookeeper's bio.

Posted by minifig051 in United States, 02 Aug 2011 14:20

I just read those, and the Ice Fisherman's bio says he once caught a genie in a bottle. I think that proves that the Series 6 pics are legit, since there is a genie among those. Even though the Crazy Scientist's bio mentioned a creepy assitant, but we have yet to see one.

Posted by spency13 in United States, 02 Aug 2011 14:27

@minifig051, smart thinking....

Did anyone else notice the typo in the Egyptian Queen's bio?

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 02 Aug 2011 14:51

@minifig051: all 16 of series 6 have not been leaked, still hoping for an assistant. :)

@spency 13 what typo?

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 02 Aug 2011 14:55

@ncbarrett: "Asp me no questions, and I shall tell you no lies." Intentional, I guess. :) Remember, Queen Cleopatra (the Egyptian queen) commited suicide with an asp. :P

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 02 Aug 2011 15:35

I'm starting feel like the only lucky one!
Half a dozen Targets in the South Jersey area have had sets on clearance for about 2 weeks. I visited four of them today and, unfortunately, almost nothing was left on clearance now that all the new sets have arrived.
The sets on clearance were more than the usual Atlantis, PoP, and Hero Factory. And clearance sets vary by store.

So far I've gotten:
8096-1: Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle for $42 (reg. $60)
8088-1: ARC-170 Starfighter for $42 (reg. $60)
5867-1: Super Speedster for $8 (reg. $20)
5764-1: Rescue Robot for $10(reg. $17)
7570-1: The Ostrich Race $10 (reg. $20)
8678-1: Ultimate Build Francesco for $7.50 (reg. $30)
3853-1: Banana Balance for $2.50 (reg. $10)
8066-1: Off-Roader for $10 (reg. $20)
7639-1: Camper for $13 (reg. $17)

I saw sets from every theme (including PotC) except Ninjago and Alien Conquest.

@ spency13: I think that all of those minifigs are real. The face and torso prints are too precise to be fake. They look exaclty the way Lego makes them. The new parts shown are too precise as well. The bone end of the butcher's piece of meat looks exactly like the ends of the bones in the Ninjago sets. The butcher's cleaver has a copyright sign followed by "LEGO" printed on it. That looks exactly the way it does on other Lego elements. I see how you can think that the warrior's sword or the gray alien's head can look fake, but these are parts we haven't seen before. When the pics for Series 2 were leaked, a lot of people thought many of the parts were fake. So, I belive that every single one of them are real.
