this seems like a pretty good sale. Hopefully can go to toysrus soon.

My father is making a trip to San diego this weekend for some buisness trip... I'll have him aquire the NinjaGo (dragon) sets while he's down there! *LOL*

Nice offer too... though one should be cautious of mark-ups as always.

Posted by pitfall69 in United States, 27 Aug 2011 20:22

Figures...I just picked up a box of Minifigures Wednesday.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 27 Aug 2011 20:33

I got a better deal today. The new Star Wars Millenium falcon for $112.49, plus free favor pack. The millennium falcon there is normally $149.99, so I saved $37.50.

Posted by CountryBoy in Canada, 27 Aug 2011 21:33

It seems online it is only a select few that have this offer???

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 27 Aug 2011 21:47

@CountryBoy - It'll start tomorrow.

U have to be kidding!! I just went to toysrus us yesterday and spent practically that much!!!!! arrrrgghhh!!!

These sales always sound decent until you do the math:
A BOGO 50% off sale could potentially get you $10 off a $40 purchase instead if you bought two $20 sets.
A 20% off coupon for one regularly priced item saves you more on the $100++ items like the trains.
This $25 off a $100+ purchase deal only helps at the $100 level because it's like a BOGO 50% off where you must buy two $100 sets to get the equivalent of $25 off each except you now only have to buy one set. If you buy 2, then it's no different than the savings of BOGO 50% off.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 27 Aug 2011 22:50

^ I'm not really sure where you're going with this. If you only want to spend $50, then you will save 20%, i.e. $10. If you want to spend $100, then you will save 25%, i.e. $25. The upside of this promotion over a BOGO is that you can buy multiple smaller sets to get up to the threshold. The downside is that you really have to stay right at $50 or $100 or you'll just end up diluting your savings. I guess they could have labeled the promotion "BUY 26 SERIES 5 MINIFIGURES, GET 8 FREE." :o)

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 28 Aug 2011 00:19

Well that is of course if the Minifigures count as a 'construction' set

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 28 Aug 2011 00:31

^They do indeed qualify this time around. Additionally, the Medieval Market, Space Shuttle, and Emerald Night are all in stock. Throw on a Series 5 Minifigure or Ninjago Skeleton Chopper and you save $25 and get free shipping. What's not to love?

Posted by yys4u in United States, 28 Aug 2011 05:21

Darn! I almost bought the QAR, but then figuring $140 -25 = $115 (with free shipping on any item over 75) but I guess its a little better to wait for a double VIP points sale from lego, so 120 gives you at least 10 bucks in VIP points, so you end up saving a little more than 5 bucks. That is unless you don't have a lego store next to you like I do, then you'd have to pay shipping.

Posted by ETAV8R in United States, 28 Aug 2011 06:11

Apparently the Star Wars Sale that was on for Friday and Saturday isn't quite over and you can double up on the savings. Got the Hoth Base and a hero factory figure for about 80. Wish they had the Falcon in stock.

The Star Wars sale was 10% off all sets except the Frigate, Falcon, and Podracers. They were all 25% off!

Posted by Legolover9531 in United States, 28 Aug 2011 08:56

And why did I just go but a bunch of LEGOs at TRU?! At least I still have 4 minifigs to get, and I might get the Hoth Echo Base.

Posted by mkoesel in United States, 28 Aug 2011 10:01

@ETAV8R

Thank you for that info! I just got the Imperial Shuttle on toysrus.com for $208.99 + tax, which is just $1 shy of 20% off. Also snagged the Frigate @ $72.49 (had to throw in a series 5 fig to hit $100).

And shipping was free also, Nice.

I wish the Falcon was still in stock online, but I am definitely going to go check my local stores to see if I can find one. Meanwhile, I am going to go place so more online orders - plenty of other great deals to be had, especially on the already discounted Star Wars sets. :)

Posted by David Brickley in United States, 28 Aug 2011 12:06

I purchased the Falcon yesterday, and went back to TRU today hoping to get yesterday's pirce plus another $25 off, but the sale was over in the store.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 28 Aug 2011 12:51

Wow. Not only is the Star Wars sale still on, you can stack both the $25 and $10 discount in the same cart.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 28 Aug 2011 13:06

My TRU says the mini figures do not qualify. It has to be a regular set.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 28 Aug 2011 13:32

^--- you would need to have them scan the item to see.
I had this over by a TRU by me.. They just said it was not part of the sale, and low and behold I found a manager with a scanner and they scanned them and found out they were part of a sale.
I think the stores hate that they have to 'give away' the figures at that discount and then they lose a box they may only have had one of.
I also I think the stores do that to stop fools from buying a box of them only to return the remaining figs once they cherry picked the ones they wanted.. Yes I do believe people are foolish for pulling that garbage.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 28 Aug 2011 14:21

Mine looked them up on their register and said they are not part of the deal and they don't honor the online deals.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 28 Aug 2011 16:37

^Wow.. not surprised I guess.. I think TRUs really do not like the CMFs as they probably are more trouble than a 3 dollar per pack toys is worth to them... but as long as they looked them up.

Posted by Brickbuilder0937 in United States, 28 Aug 2011 17:45

Important info: this promotion only takes $10 or $25 off the highest price item, so filling your cart with collecible minifigs will only get you one free minifig.

Posted by PerryMakes in United States, 28 Aug 2011 19:49

I had it out with several TRU managers today - some saying that they don't price match online - some saying that they do. My goal was to find a store that would honor the $112.49 online price for the Millenium Falcon AND give me the $25. I was unsuccessful ... and it occurred to me that trying to do things like this for the past 37 years since passing the pearly gates into this world is what's landed me with a balding head and a bad disposition. Who's got the secret for being happy with the simple things in life?

Posted by David Brickley in United States, 28 Aug 2011 21:22

The secret? Some folks rely on the hope of going back through those pearly gates you mentioned.

And filling your cart with minifigures? Near as I figure it, you buy 17, get $10 off (which is 3 figures); add 17 more, get $25 off (which is 8 figures...). Are you referring perhaps to getting a $99 set and adding minifigures?

Posted by Titan in United States, 29 Aug 2011 03:03

@yellowcastle - How do you stack the $10 and then the $25 discount in the same cart? Not sure which order I need to add my items....

Posted by ETAV8R in United States, 29 Aug 2011 09:28

Well they finally corrected the TRU website. No more 10% off and the sale. Good for those who got in before it was changed.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 29 Aug 2011 18:44

@Titan - I simply put two items into my cart that would each individually qualify for the discount and both discounts then showed up. If it is intentional, then kudos to TRU for doing this as you then don't have to do multiple transactions.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 29 Aug 2011 19:06

Ok, I've tried a couple different things and it is neither working the way it did previously or the way it really should.
*************************************************************************************
- While the previous Star Wars discount appears to have ended, some sets like the Death Star and Imperial Shuttle are still on sale. The Death Star, for example and by itself, right now is $335 plus free shipping.

- If you add the Death Star and Imperial Shuttle to your cart, you save an extra $25 on the Death Star and an extra $10 on the Imperial Shuttle.

- If you add the Portal of Atlantis and the Toy Story 3 Trash Compactor, you save $25 on the Portal and $10 on the Trash Compactor.

- If you get to $100 via many small sets, however, it simply takes $25 off the highest priced set. But if that price is less than $25, you simply lose the difference.

- If you add the Queen Anne's Revenge and the Toys R Us Truck, however, it only gives you $25 off the QAR, even though your total is still over $150. I'm guessing it takes the QAR out of the equation when determining eligibility on the TRU Truck. But if you add a Series 5 Minifigure, you then save $10 on the TRU Truck.

Posted by Pandawan in United States, 29 Aug 2011 22:30

I have a random question, but I want to purchase the Death Star for my Son, and I don't want him to know about it. What kind of box does Toys R Us ship in? What does it look like?

This is my first time buying online.

Thanks!

Posted by rocao in United States, 30 Aug 2011 08:59

Is the $25 off $100 available in store as well?

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 30 Aug 2011 13:09

Yes, the $25 off $100 is also in store as well, but may not apply to polybags or S5 minis.

Posted by Pandawan in United States, 30 Aug 2011 17:26

Darn, Toys R Us is sold out of the death star 8( I should have just ordered it! Any idea how long it takes for it to come back in stock?

Posted by Ha876 in United States, 04 Sep 2011 12:47

is the 10 off in store

Posted by Titan in United States, 04 Sep 2011 13:24

@yellowcastle - thank you for that. It worked for my purchase!
