The new Liverpool LEGO Brand Store had its 'soft' opening a month-or-so ago; this weekend sees the 'Grand Opening Event'.

You can read all the details of the in-store events and promotions here.

If you manage to make it to the event, post here and let us know how it went. If you get one of the minifure sets on Sunday, and can take a good quality photo of it, we'd appreciate a copy to add to the database!

I'm not able to make it on Sunday, but would love a minifigure set. If anyone could pick me up a spare one please let me know.

Ah, why such short notice! This will be my closest store but no way I can get there on Sunday. I too would love the minifigure set so if anyone else is going and LCG above is sorted and you manage to get a spare please let me know! Many thanks in advance.

At last a store closer to us 'up north'! Pity I can't make the grand opening though.

I'm in Warrington Sunday, might be able to sneak across.......anyone know whats in the minifig set ? Maybe something iconic like the Beatles ???!!!!! I wish !

I'll be there and will gladly take plenty of pictures :)

Roxio - I enquired about the Minifigure set and was kindly told by several members of staff who 'they' were. I'll give you a clue; there are 4 of them, and they're all male....

miniroll32: AHHHHHHH!!! IT IS THE BEATLES!!! Wait, this isn't a trick is it!? I wonder if it is the Beatles whether there will be any new minifig pieces for them.

Been to the 2nd event today and got the free special t-shirt (if anyone wants photos just ask!) and a free 'cup' of bricks which i'm made up with. Outside the LEGO folk were inviting fans to build their favourite Liverpool landmark (of which there are very few, though fellow 'pudlians like to think otherwise...) on a large group of tables with huge buckets of bricks. I got my free wristband to have a go though and even get 10% off in store, but I was put off by all the onlookers!

With regards to the Minifigures available tomorrow, they are indeed The Beatles but I was saddened to learn that not all 4 members will be present. Because of licensing issues, only 3 will be in the set. I'm quite disappointed as the whole point of having the 'band' is to include all members, but never the less it'll be a nice addition to my collection!

^Is the 10% off only for customers who take part in the build?

Posted by Nesquik in United Kingdom, 10 Sep 2011 13:35

Jabba - Yes, you go to one of the desks outside and give some details, then they give you a time to arrive for the build and give you a wristband for free. The wristband is used in store for the discount :)

miniroll32- Aww, only three? Who isn't included?

Posted by Nesquik in United Kingdom, 10 Sep 2011 14:21

Itsaturkey - I'll find out tomorrow morning ;) Who should email pictures to by the way?

Got my minifigures and i'm very disappointed in them. 'Exclusive' my rear!

I was #201, beat ya! You might have seen me in store - I was the short dude in the harrington jacket clutching a Maersk Train... I just had to get it ;)

Disapointed with the beatles minifigs. They'd have been better giving a free Lego car (minus the wheels) - More in tune with the merseyside vibe :-)

Managed to pick up a good assortment of free 'pick a bricks' (free small tub, if you had an invite, and spent over £20). They have

Didn't see many people buying any of the larger sets (over £150), but plenty of people nudging up to the £20 mark to get the freebie beatles sets.

@miniroll32 - They weren't giving them out in order, there was at most 50 people in front of me. I bought the Maersk train too. :)

@suedeapple - The cars without wheels stereotype is so tired. It's no worse here than most other places in the country.
