This much-anticipated book is now available! Personally I can't wait to get hold of a copy. It will be very interesting to see how its coverage compares with Brickset. It claims to cover "nearly every LEGO set produced".

I plan to write a full review as soon as I have a copy.

USA price?

Posted by thepeopleperson in United States, 04 Jul 2008 20:35

I've already reserved a "Premium Edition" for myself! :)

Posted by Gus263 in Brazil, 04 Jul 2008 20:51

I think that this book is very expensive, but still, I think it worth the money, if you want to record the classic Lego sets, it looks like to be a nice book.

You can get it here, too.

For some reason the collector's guide is available from the Au Shop@Home site - http://shop.lego.com/product/?p=810003&LangId=2057&ShipTo=AU and its selling for around AUD$38. Wondering when it would appear on the US site......

Mine arrived yesterday, it's great to skim through it, although it has no reviews so Brickset is more useful in my opinion.

How much is it?

Posted by dragon_teenager in United States, 06 Jul 2008 00:09

I need a price before I consider shelling out my Star Wars fund for it.

Posted by orange_808 in United States, 06 Jul 2008 01:33

is it worth getting? may be i should use the money to buy one of those new starwars lego sets

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 06 Jul 2008 08:03

I paid £15.99 (UK Pounds) (equivalent of very roughly $32US); IMHO it's an interesting LEGO reference work, but offers little, if anything, above online resources like brickset.com. If money is tight, my advice is spend the money directly on LEGO.

Posted by Agent chace in N/A, 06 Jul 2008 11:57

I want it but im saving up for all the Agents sets

Posted by orange_808 in United States, 07 Jul 2008 03:03

Thanks bluemoose now i have an estimate for the price. =]

Unless you are a big time collector, have a huge collection (300+), or are in dire need of a reference guide, Id say save your money for sets. If you like to see old set you can use the search function here. I admit it is a very nice book and I will be getting one when it appears in book stores as I don't agree with $25 postage for a book. I really want it but I have waited over 10 years for something like this, i'm sure a few more months wont kill me.

Price is $37.99AUD going by the current dollar take a few (2-3) $$ off and that's US$$

Posted by train_nut in United Arab Emirates, 07 Jul 2008 11:50

I've got one in hand. Yes it's very handy but the pictures of each set is just a postage stamp size. For die-hard fans only

Posted by orange_808 in United States, 07 Jul 2008 16:11

Does the book give descriptions of all the lego sets?

Posted by BlackRabbit in Canada, 07 Jul 2008 17:17

i really dont see the point in buying this book when you have the internet

Posted by dragon_teenager in United States, 08 Jul 2008 00:47

I was tempted at first- I like the idea of having an offline reference to a lot of old LEGO sets- but in the end I think I'll probably pass this one by, as it's expensive and a lot of set images are missing.

Posted by Jim Java in United States, 08 Jul 2008 09:36

This is for only 16 bucks? Unbelievable. Either it's got a lot less than meets the eye, or someone on some website must have screwed up when writing the price.

Posted by train_nut in United Arab Emirates, 08 Jul 2008 11:06

the description of the lego sets comes in the form of release year, piece count, region it was released, gives note if it was a special set, rarity of set.

Posted by billding in United Kingdom, 08 Jul 2008 16:34

The book, for those who live in the UK, along with the new red collector book, is now available in the Big Shop in Legoland Windsor, priced at £14.99 for the Collector's Book, and £19.99 for the red 50 years celebration book. Don't forget that annual pass holders get their usual 10% off...
