    40020: Halloween Set

LEGO has a long history of making Halloween-themed sets. The first, a pumpkin, was released in 2000 (3731) and caused a lot of excitement because it was one of the first sets to feature orange bricks and slopes.

This year, two sets are being released: 40020 (pictured left) featuring a bat, ghost and a pumpkin, and 40021, which contains two spiders. The models in 40020 are an improvement on last year's separate bat, ghost and pumpkin sets (40012, 40013, 40014) which contained only bricks. This year we have slopes, cheese wedges and other more useful parts.

Forum member LostInTranslation found the two sets at LEGOLAND Billund, so I'm sure they'll be hitting the shelves of the brand stores and shop.LEGO.com soon; after all it's only 5 weeks until the event itself.

The bat is a huge improvement over last year's bow-tie design. The new ghost looks a bit oddly shaped, compared to last year's PacMan-esque style. The pumpkin looks pretty similar to before, but the extra cheeseslopes will allow a bit more creativity in making faces.

Looking forward to picking this up.

40020 was in LEGOLAND Windsor on Saturday along with 40009 and 40010 the two Christmas poly bags and also three Christmas baubles, clear plastic balls with about 30 solid and trans bricks all of the same colour, which I couldn't find in the database. They were 853344 in Red, 853345 in Gold and 853346 in Green.

Every Halloween I tell my self to get some Halloween sets. Every Halloween I forget... :(
I like the idea of having 3 in a set, and do seem better than last years. I will hopefully buy several packs and have them all around the room :)

Good grief, it's Halloween already?! >_< XD

@sarlacc98; I think its the 1x1 sloped tiles (like in the pumpkins mouth). Cheese slopes makes it sound funnier :P

3 in a set sounds good for some nice Halloween gifts.
You know....I kinda' like the simple designs from last year...more cartoony (I'm a simple man though...).
This new bat has a 'Batman-esque' style. The spiders are shown on the Oct. calendar I think (I gotta' look again).

@Alemas - A store near my house was selling Christmas junk... in August.
Doesn't it look like the pumpkin isn't a jack-o-lantern, but a walking demon pumkin? O_e

@TooMuchLEGO; Yes, why does the Pumpkin have feet? One long stand I could understand, but feet?!
