That's the line-up in The Sun newspaper LEGO promotion starting this Saturday in the UK! Forum moderator Matthew found the details at The Sun's website this evening and atkinsar has created a BrickList which identifies the sets involved.

Too bad I paid over the odds for a 30053 at GWLS on Saturday :-)

Looks like a nice variety. I'll be getting this if I can.
Do we know whether you can collect the tokens and then order the LEGO or will it be a manic rush to WHSmiths in the early morning? I hope it's the first option :P

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 04 Oct 2011 15:45

Ah the risks of polybag buying! I won't tell you how much I paid for 30053 on ebay in April this year, safe to say it was slightly more than the price of a newspaper.

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 04 Oct 2011 15:47

^^ I think it's safe to assume that we'll be able to send the tokens to The Sun's Customer Services like last time. Whether there'll be a 'official' mail away option remains to be seen....

Posted by DarthLuke824 in United Kingdom, 04 Oct 2011 16:32

Great! Sound like a god lineup! I'm only interested in the SW Bag. @BrickBob09 Yeah! I remember last time they ran out of the bags. I really don't want to pay over the odds for any of them!

Posted by Joely in United Kingdom, 04 Oct 2011 16:46

Anyone else think they were giving away the Super Star Destroyer at first or was it because I don't bother to read things?

Posted by Jono in United Kingdom, 04 Oct 2011 16:55

Some nice models, its just a shame that you have to buy the Sun to get them!

Posted by Greyface in United States, 04 Oct 2011 17:16

I really, really hate these... Only because I can't get them.

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 04 Oct 2011 17:21

Darn! It's so unfair how UK gets these. Why can't newspapers in theU.S.A get these?

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 04 Oct 2011 17:34

@The Reviewer and @Anyone Else
Last time I shipped loads of these sets worldwide, and am happy to do the same again. There's a form to fill in if you're interested at http://matthewbutlerfol.webs.com/thesunpromotion.htm

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 04 Oct 2011 18:33

You British are really lucky you can get these fun promotions :/

Posted by secretjedi in United Kingdom, 04 Oct 2011 19:27

Not really impressed with the line up TBH. I'll get Harry Potters, but doubt I'll bother with the others.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 04 Oct 2011 20:09

I would love to have Grem and the Harry Potter Lab. Too bad I don't live out there.

Posted by Greyface in United States, 04 Oct 2011 20:41

@Huw - is it possible to place a news post in multiple categories? Because I customized my news feed, and I did not want news of sales and such from anywhere in the world on my feed. However, this interests me because it is the first appearance, if you will, of the Harry Potter The Lab set (and I'm sure many of the other polybags) on the shelves.

Posted by tiberium_blue in United Kingdom, 04 Oct 2011 21:15

Does anyone know why the mirror stopped doing this? At least you could send away for theirs.

Posted by Thomson & Thompson in Canada, 04 Oct 2011 22:26

On a polybag note, does anyone know where I can get 30120 Guido anywhere else than on bricklink?

Posted by jon11380 in United Kingdom, 05 Oct 2011 02:51

@Thomson and Thomson, yes I wanted a Guido, I recall during the last Sun promotion that they extended it by a few days, so I have not quite given up hope for this avenue just yet.

Posted by richselby in United Kingdom, 05 Oct 2011 03:47

Last time, they added an extra two days worth of sets to the end of the promotion. Wonder if that will happen this time.

Posted by beegeedee in Ireland, 05 Oct 2011 04:40

Do you know if there's any news of running it in Ireland like last time? I would assume so but there's very little on the website.

Nice selection of sets, wouldn't mind a couple of the creator trucks - they always have the nice small pieces useful for making other models.

@Atkinsar
Thanks for the bricklist, really useful
and
Thanks @LegoCoastGuard for sending the news

Can someone please explain me exactly how this work? Having a friend from the UK giving it a a try for me, and want to explain him how to do it.

Thanks

Posted by princedraven in United Kingdom, 05 Oct 2011 09:51

@PocasNuckie, its a simple process. You buy 'The Sun' newspaper and in it there is a voucher. You take the voucher to a store (WHSmiths or Toys R Us - TBC) and they hand you the polybag.
In practice most people go to their local WHSmiths, buy as many papers as they are allowed, take the polybags and throw the papers in the bin.

Hope that helps.

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 05 Oct 2011 11:11

@PocasNuckie; Hopefully there will also be a form in the last of the papers that you can send (along with all the vouchers) to The Sun to get them delivered. This normally comes with a small P&P price but it's easy than rushing to Smiths in the early hours of the morning to try and grab one before they run out.

Just a slightly easy option in my opinion :P

Posted by Jabba the Taff in United Kingdom, 05 Oct 2011 12:22

There seem to be enough sets not in the promo so far to suggest either (i) it will be extended by up to a week, or (ii) there will be another promo soon. I'm leaning toward, and hoping for, another promo soon, since previously these have been available in school holidays (as a teacher this was great!) and were closer to Xmas - with the advertising tying into that fact.

Im from ierland and please could someone tell me how does it work and can i get these in ireland p.s. these sets look FANTASTIC

Posted by LostInTranslation in United Kingdom, 05 Oct 2011 15:51

I read somewhere that this will be available from Smyths in Ireland. Just buy the Sun each day, take the voucher to the shop and exchange it for the Lego polybag du jour. Simples.

I hope it isn't like the last promotion where WHsmith ran out by 10 in the morning everyday. I wanna be able to send off for them.

Posted by jmupton2000 in United Kingdom, 06 Oct 2011 10:14

Says it will be available at the main London railway station branches, this I severely doubt as it wasn't last time.

Posted by legonut80 in United Kingdom, 06 Oct 2011 11:44

hum, why are these already on ebay?

Posted by princedraven in United Kingdom, 06 Oct 2011 11:57

^^ jmupton2000, I must admit I had my doubts too, however it specifically names stations. Can't see them doing that without information to back it up.

Posted by Steve_J_OM in Ireland, 06 Oct 2011 13:00

Disappointing enough, just the one SW poly and it's one that has been available for a while. While I'm a big HP fan, I think I've overloaded on copies of Harry from all the other sets. Grem is the only one that appeals to me.

Posted by jmupton2000 in United Kingdom, 06 Oct 2011 13:48

The only one I know that I will defintely be able to get to a high street WHSmiths for is Tuesday's little truck which is just as well as I quite like these little vehicle sets so two may be in order!

Posted by beegeedee in Ireland, 07 Oct 2011 05:53

Just saw on the Sun's facebook page that the offer is also in ROI with the toys being made available from Tesco as well as Smyths - handy as there's a Tesco just along the road from me (still managed to miss one last time)

Posted by Renegade007cjh in United Kingdom, 08 Oct 2011 08:01

Does anyone know if they're doing the "we know we didn't have enough stock, so send your tokens to this address" arrangement like last time?

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 08 Oct 2011 18:32

^ I posted it on the forum (2nd comment from the bottom) http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/1775/more-sun-promotion-news/p1

Hey guys I decided to give Sun an email about the Gold bricks here is what they sent me.

"Thank you for your email

There are around 400 prizes to won spread out over the 8 days.
To date we have had 105 claims.
The brick you are looking for is quite large compared to the rest of Lego.
It is a 2 x 4 gold reflective brick, which will have a 4 digit number running down the side of it."

My guess is non collectors have claimed, or judging how the staff was feeling the set packs (at my locak smiths) there is a possbility that staff are claiming the prizes.

I just hope it is the kids winning
