    Lego Cars Event at Toys'r'us

I don't have all the details, but it would appear that there's an event at TRU that includes the opportunity to buy an exclusive polybag set of Rod Torque Redline which is one we don't have in the database here yet.

So, pop along to your local branch at the weekend and let us know what's going on, and if you can, grab a polybag for me :-)

Thanks to Okay for the news.

This I think is great little set!

Are you sure this is a polybag? It seems like just a set build to me...

Not sure at all, you could be right. Let us know once you've been!

^You seem quite excited. Is this only in the US?

This isn't a polybag from what it looks like. Huw where did you get the picture? If you could add a zoom feature that would be great!

Yes! The closest Bruce Campbell will ever come to being made in LEGO form!

Those are my pictures! :)

I got the ad in my email from TRU. It indicates that the build is intended for children 5 and up. My two-year old loves LEGO cars, so I'm sure he'd enjoy this event. Has anyone been to one of these in the past? Would they allow children under 5 to participate?

Posted by refriedbeans in United States, 13 Oct 2011 21:07

Last time they did this the guy was just giving the sets out to kids as they walked by. I had to explain to the person that 14 year olds like Legos too. Then he gave me the set. I'm sure they will give any child a set.

i saw a similar sign in my TRU today.

and a bit off topic: they also had a TRU branded lego catalog which i flipped thru, but forgot to pick up! there was a coupon for $5 off lego games starting 10/15. AND some tiny pics of the 2012 ninjago sets... are those online somewhere?

Also interested in a polybag of Rod Torque Redline. (or 10)

I will buy it, or swap for something on my site: www.StarMars.nl/LEGO

@doodlebird - the TRU LEGO Catalog is visible online: http://toysrus.shoplocal.com/toysrus/default.aspx?action=entryflash&

On page 16, it says the new Ninjago sets will be available in December. It also says there will be new Ninjago TV series episodes coming to the Cartoon Network and that there will be a Ninjago DVD (with two episodes) available on Nov 1.
On page 23, it says there will be a Heroica demo event at participating locations Oct 29.

WHO IS Rod Torque Redline???

Was he even IN the movie???

Posted by meyerc13 in United States, 14 Oct 2011 17:06

That TRU catalog is interesting. Since when are the airport sets TRU exclusive? Since they went to clearance everywhere else?

@ legolasher66 - Rod Torque Redline appears in Cars 2. He was the American spy that Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell were meant to meet up with at The World Grand Prix Welcome Party in Tokyo. But when Rod is attacked by two of Professor Z's henchmen, he's slips his GPS tracker on to Mater's undercarriage. Finn and Holley mistake Mater for the American, and as the GPS device contains Rod's rendezvous, Mater becomes involved in the mission.

I am just back from the TRU event. For all of you that are curious the free build is of the set that was pictured in the ad of the blue car. They had baggies with a sticker sheet that they handed out and an instruction sheet. At a separate table there were bins of the bricks you needed to build the car and you filled your baggie with the pieces needed. We had fun!

I just got back too! It was great! Even my Dad built one! The set has three stickers and 29 pieces.

Would you like a pic of the instructions?

Posted by Modeltrainman in United States, 15 Oct 2011 19:56

@Brendan: I would, please, if it's legal. And a sticker scan, and parts list.

I went to 2 of the events and got 9 total. The event was ok. Some idiot woman decided to start picking in the boxes of pieces and gave them to her kids to play with. When we told her it was for a build event and we were all waiting in line for it to start, she told me "I can do whatever I want to do." Even the manager had to tell her to put them away that it was for an event. Luckily after a few minutes of us telling her how rude she was being, she left with nothing. The employee running the event handed out plastic baggies and we had to fill them with the number of pieces indicated on the boxes. Then they gave us the sticker sheet and instruction sheet. Cool build for a freebie. I can trade someone in the UK for a Grem. Contact me through Brickset if interested. Serious traders only please.
