Several people have emailed to say that Toys R Us is listing many 2012 sets already, most of which are in stock for shipping. I would have expected them to appear around Thanksgiving, but not in October!

Meanwhile, images of several 2012 Creator sets have surfaced at Smashing Bricks, including this blue car (how many Creator cars do we need, exactly?) which is apparently one of the sets available at TRU.

Can they be shipped to Canada? I hope they list Star Wars sets! And, how many super sonic jets do we need as well?

Posted by Thomson & Thompson in Canada, 31 Oct 2011 16:17

^^There are some new pictures there.

Wow there are some excellent sets to look forward to in 2012, I'm sure i can wait another couple of months for them to appear in the UK.

Posted by bic3 in United Kingdom, 31 Oct 2011 16:49

Anyone else think 6912 is based on a Harrier jump jet and 7292 on a De Havilland Mosquito?

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 31 Oct 2011 16:54

Already?

Posted by Rolyat24 in United States, 31 Oct 2011 17:01

Still no Harry Potter :(

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 31 Oct 2011 17:04

@vamproe: BTW, if you get them (which I highly doubt), review 'em ASAP! :P

Posted by DarthLuke824 in United Kingdom, 31 Oct 2011 17:20

Any Star Wars sets out there too? I really want the Endor Battle Pack and X-Wing!

@DarthLuke: None... yet. :P

Posted by TBOC in United States, 31 Oct 2011 17:58

Star Wars and Hero Factory will be out last, becasue that's how it usually is and has been in the past (though it was BIONICLE instead of HF)

That blue Creator Car looks like a pretty nice parts pack, I might actually pick it up!

Posted by nadnerb112 in United States, 31 Oct 2011 19:42

They aren't shipping anymore.

Posted by BrianOg in France, 31 Oct 2011 20:29

@bic3 - The yellow set isn't very harrier like, maybe just a bit, but you can still get set 6745, which isn't fantastic but a bit bettter looking - the lsanted down wings are very harrier-like. The mosquito one actually looks quite nice, though lego 'planes generally only look good from a couple of angles (the ones they are photographed from), but when you look all around the model it is usually too bulky or stubby somewhere. This one does look worth getting.

I kind of wish they made all creator sets Minifigure scale, because I hate the almost-figure-scale that all the sets use.

Posted by SupaSteela17 in United States, 31 Oct 2011 21:26

awesome i know what their price is now, but toys r us does over price things like the collectable minifigs are 50 cents more now

Posted by asherkobin in United States, 01 Nov 2011 01:21

Does anyone else find it strange that TRU is selling 21010 (Robie House) for $179 when the Lego Store sells it for $199? If anything I would expect TRU to sell it for a bit above $199.

Various TRUs is my area (there are 3 in an 10 or so mile radius) sometimes have higher than retail prices for some expensive items (Trains, some of the bigger City sets, a Technic here or there and sometimes a Creator set).

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 01 Nov 2011 12:12

Some creator sets are being gouged a bit. 130 pieces for $14.99? No thank you.
And yet, some city sets are under 10 cents a piece (city camper and garbage truck). Ambulance is barely over that mark. Their piece counts are 218, 208, and 199, all at $19.99 each set.
What is Lego's idea of pricing nowadays? Shouldn't creator be CHEAPER than city?

Posted by coolpix in United States, 01 Nov 2011 13:03

I agree. Creator sets don't have minifigures, and are supposed to be cheaper. Maybe it's the cost of having, sometimes, 3 instruction books instead of 1, but still, it seems that Creator sets were cheaper not long ago. Keep in mind that TRU usually mark up these sets. As an example, the green creator car is $12.99 everywhere, but $14.99 at TRU.

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 01 Nov 2011 13:20

True, but still that would make the car at 8.5 cents a piece. Too much for a creator set IMO. However, TRU have been about the same on some sets as of late. The Cool Cruiser, Rescue Robot, and the Transport Truck is the same price on both LEGO.com and TRU.com. Ditto with Lighthouse island.

Lucky Americans! :)
Oh well, hopefully we'll get them "soon" in the UK, the new NinjaGo and City sets especially look awesome!

Posted by vynsane in United States, 02 Nov 2011 10:11

TRU usually only increases their prices after everyone else has the products for sale. They are, generally, somehow first to release LEGO and do so at MSRP. It is odd that the Creator sets are more expensive for less pieces this go-round, especially in light of the fact that CITY sets seem to have a better price/piece ratio (and most of them have a SLEW of newly-developed pieces). Even the 2012 NinjaGo offerings are quite reasonably priced (all just about hovering around the $0.10/piece ratio except for "Cole's Tread Assault", which has a lot of large pieces).

Also, to me, Creator seems to be meant as 'exciting' parts packs - I don't know if many people keep their Creator sets assembled on their display shelves, but for me they're "parts bin" fodder, so "how many Creator cars do we need, exactly?" - as many as they want to make, especially if they're giving us more rare colors like light blue! I'd love to see a Creator car or plane or helicopter in dark red...

ouch, those Dino sets are spendy!
> 5882 @ $12.99 (Ambush)
> 5883 @ $19.99 (Tower)
> 5884 @ $29.99 (Raptor Chase)
> 5885 @ $49.99 (Triceratops)
> 5886 @ $79.99 (T-Rex)
> 5887 @ $99.99 (HQ)

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 02 Nov 2011 13:19

^Until the piece count is seen, I would say wait to see if it is "spendy". The piece counts haven't been released yet. If it is like 11-13 cents per piece, I would say no, but if it is 14 or more, then yes.

Posted by QwertyLEGO in United States, 02 Nov 2011 14:47

All that i know, the Tower takedown one is about 129 pcs, and the HQ is like 686 (via brickipedia)

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 02 Nov 2011 16:06

@dougts It isn't cheap cloning Dinosaurs. :)

Posted by Classic Johnny Thunder in United States, 02 Nov 2011 16:57

I hope Star Wars sets are out before Christmas...

Posted by dougts in United States, 02 Nov 2011 17:20

while the exact piece counts aren't know on the Dino sets, you can make a pretty decent guess by looking at the pictures. Obviously, the dinosaurs themselves are going to drive the price point up quite a bit. the two that hit me the most price wise are the two most expensive ones.

5886 has a small buggy and trailer, a moderate sized chopper, and the T-Rex. $80 is a lot. compare to the recent $90 AC Earth Defense AQ - it seems like substantially less.

5887 compared to some recent "$100 base sets" - King's Castle, Police Station - again, a lot less substance.

It's not surprising, those dino pieces have to be expensive. Just sayin...

Posted by vamproe in United States, 02 Nov 2011 21:22

just got an email from TRU that my 2012 police sets were shipped and a trackng number

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 03 Nov 2011 11:43

Piece count for DINO sets (from TRU pics)
> 5887 - 793 pcs
> 5886 - 483 pcs
> 5884 - 255 pcs
> 5883 - 136 pcs

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 03 Nov 2011 20:00

> 5883= 14.7 cents pp (pp is per piece)
> 5886= 16.56 cents pp
> 5884= 11.76 cents pp
> 5887= 12.61 cents pp

Conculsion: Some sets are ok-priced, others are too much.

Posted by vamproe in United States, 04 Nov 2011 10:27

Was just on TRU.com ... set 4440 and 4441 are back up and orderable again. Let's see how long it lasts this time.

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 04 Nov 2011 10:56

5886 = 16.56 at TRU price. I believe it should only be 14.5 pp which is acceptable to me.

Posted by vamproe in United States, 04 Nov 2011 10:59

correction.....went to order and they are out of stock now. WOW .....that was fast ;)

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 04 Nov 2011 11:02

also from TRU pics -
> 5885 = 269 pcs (18.6 pp yikes!) I really want it, but will definitely wait for at least a 25% off sale.
> 5882 = 80 pcs (16.25 pp TRU, 12.5 pp standard)
