Brickset member L-Di-LEGO has tracked down better pictures of many of the 2012 sets and also filled a few gaps, such as Hero Factory and Creator, so it looks as if we pretty much have images of all the first wave of next year's sets, bar the Super Heroes minifig-scale ones.

As feared, it's going to be another expensive year...

Some of those Hero factory characters look amazing, Splitface is my favourite. Never really considered getting them because they seem to have very few "normal" LEGO elements, but this wave might convince me to try one or two...

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 06 Nov 2011 15:33

So, the HERO Factory heroes have their old helmets back. I wonder why...?

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 06 Nov 2011 15:38

Are you getting a Bionicle vipe from the backgrounds on HF? I am.
@Alemas, strange that is....

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 06 Nov 2011 15:42

@Doctor Leg O'Brick (any shorter name?! :P): BIONICLE?! :P WHERE?! XD

EDIT: @Doctor Leg O'Brick: Eh, there's an economic crisis going on, they have to re-use old stuff now... :P XD

The Dino theme looks really good. Now I have to get the fire sets and the dino sets, whew.

Thanks for the update!

Can't wait for the Super Heroes set pictures!

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 06 Nov 2011 16:19

@Thomson: Here are four of 'em: http://www.brickset.com/search/?theme=Super%20Heroes&year=2012

Still missing some of the "Friends" pictures even though they are posted on TheBrickBlogger? Maybe you need a special quality version. I'm not sure.

Posted by Kalhiki in United States, 06 Nov 2011 17:05

Ah, the HF set pictures have been added. Can't wait till they're available.

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 06 Nov 2011 17:37

Expensive indeed.... I'm really liking the look of the new City sets in particular, and the new Dino theme is also growing on me....

Posted by Okay in United States, 06 Nov 2011 17:44

Argh! Why are the Superhero pics so elusive! We got pics of about every other theme, so why not the one that most people want to see? TLG can't be THAT good at keeping them a secret, can they?

Posted by TooMuchLEGO in United States, 06 Nov 2011 18:20

HOLY CUTE AND ADORABLE.

^ agreed, and this one too: http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=6910-1

You're right about "brickhelf" in the profile page!!!

Posted by 18000pieces in United States, 06 Nov 2011 18:26

I don't think I ought to post it (I'm not sure if they're even still up) but there was a page hosting prelim pics of the DC superhero sets for a while. The best one was probably Lex Luthor in his lime-green power suit fighting Superman and Wonder Woman all in one $20 set. The rest were all Batman, and were kind of disappointing, IMO. There was one that was basically a smaller version of 7782 (http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=7782-1) and the others were just generic Batman fare that we've seen before. I'm much more interested in the Marvel sets, which ought to be coming out in April/May.

Now Hero Factory has officially morphed back into Bionicle...

Posted by Dlakii in Australia, 06 Nov 2011 19:00

...

Wow.

I can't believe it. They finally designed Hero Factory sets that are actually remotely /good/. This wave fixes almost all of my grievances with the line and its predecessor - the designs are generally coherent, smooth and not impossibly gappy, all the heroes are differentiated accessoryways very nicely, and the villains look quite interesting. The improvements are best exemplified with the Black Phantom (which by the way is a great villain name, if not all that creative) - whereas all his predecessors are clumsy, gappy messes, he's incredibly slick, well-thought out, and has good use of his colour scheme. The practical upshot is that he strikes me as the most imposing villain set any constraction line has provided since the 2003 Makuta. The villain names are for the most part worse than usual, but eh, that's par for the course with the general theme of this line by now.

I wouldn't say the line is perfect by any means, but it's a massive advancement; it's just a shame it took them three set waves to do it. I find that... maybe I'll actually buy some? idk LEGO is already conspiring to bankrupt me without throwing HF into the mix

Posted by TooMuchLEGO in United States, 06 Nov 2011 19:42

@Hello_World!

Correct about that too. ;) And you read my profile? Wow :P

Posted by Hello_World! in United States, 06 Nov 2011 20:14

TooMuchLEGO: I've even frended you!!! ;-)

Posted by Thomson & Thompson in Canada, 06 Nov 2011 20:24

@Alemas-I know about those, but I need the other pictures. I have them now, thanks to 18000pieces.

Posted by jadeirene in United States, 06 Nov 2011 21:12

Oh, that hedgehog in the Vet set is so adorable. I wish these "girl" themes would use the standard minifigs. As it is, I can't justify it to myself for buying the sets, even if I really want the cute animals and some of the other unique parts.

Posted by Greyface in United States, 06 Nov 2011 21:17

No Harry Potter news... I have to fear the worst.

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 06 Nov 2011 21:52

^@Greyface Lego is done with HP. face it the movies are done, and so the theme is down and out.

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 06 Nov 2011 21:54

2012 is probably the most exciting(and most expensive) lego year since 2007. They seem to be heading in the right direction

Posted by Gandalf1 in United States, 06 Nov 2011 22:39

It sure is a shame that they won't be producing any more HP sets, but I guess there isn't much reason to keep it going, now that the movies are all out.

Btw, I wonder what on earth happened with Pharaoh's Quest. They released 6 main sets, but they chose a story line which doesn't allow for any more real sets. They should have brought back Adventurers. )-;

Posted by Savage_Steel in United Kingdom, 07 Nov 2011 03:26

Agreed on the Lego hedgehog! But that fire engine is also impossibly cute :)

Posted by Xiaolong in Belgium, 07 Nov 2011 05:26

@Greyface & The Reviewer & Gandalf1
I'm not interested in HP but Star Wars is already longer finished in the movie theatres and they still keep making newer versions of old sets. So, who knows?

Posted by C-Fish in United States, 07 Nov 2011 11:50

Since when has a Lego year NOT been expensive? ;-)

On a different note, it looks like Lego is trying for a slightly more conservative combination of BIONICLE and Hero Factory elements next year; good news for MOCists such as I.

Posted by itsaturkey in United States, 07 Nov 2011 12:26

Wow, I like the new HF. I'm glad they ended the 1.0 2.0 3.0 etc theme, it would have gotten pretty old soon (10.0? :P) And I agree, this series looks much less "Bright" as before, giving it a sense of urgency and darkness. Something HF desperately needed. The backgrounds depress me, however. They remind me too much of early Bionicle, which I'm not sure whether I like or dislike. The handcuffs will add the playability, now we can actually capture the villains instead of blasting them to pieces :P HF is in the right direction IMO.
EDIT: Wait, there are only five heroes! And three of them have the old masks! Actually it makes sense, story wise.

Posted by Greyface in United States, 07 Nov 2011 12:43

@The Reviewer and Cap'n Crayfish - actually, there is a minifig Harry Potter book coming out in 2012, as well as Years 5 - 7, so it's a distinct possibility we'll see two or three sets in the second wave.

Posted by Nerd in United States, 07 Nov 2011 13:24

Hero Factory 2012 is a mix of BIONICLE and Hero Factory 1.0. Very odd.

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 07 Nov 2011 15:25

Anyone else think that the small sports car could be a mini version or be similar to the 6743 from 2009? They look rather the same in some places: They both are green and have a spoiler.

Posted by bionicle212 in United States, 07 Nov 2011 19:15

is HF coping itself? take a look. toxic and meltdown seem pretty similiar. and so do phantom and fire lord.

Posted by sarlacc98 in United Kingdom, 07 Nov 2011 22:10

seems like the hf have elements now if you look close at background. Wish they would bring back the Bionicle just I had caught up on the story line they ended it. Oh well.

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 07 Nov 2011 22:54

^Greyface I see, but I HATE harry potter with a passion and I don't care if they don't make anymore HP sets so whatever. Phaoroh's quest seems to be coming to an end, I agree that they should have just brought back the Adventures theme. The Dino theme is awesome but I have a feeling that it is going to be short lived like Pharoh's quest.

Posted by Skywalker1966 in United States, 08 Nov 2011 10:22

I would probably have to agree with the general sentiment on here as far as the new HF guys go. The new packaging is pretty much a Bionicle knock-off (not that I'm complaining...), but the figures look way cooler. It's nice that they have quit the #.0 line. In just a few years, we would have had 10.0 +...

Besides those, I think that Dino is looking great and might actually have some Air Force style jackets so I can finally build a Stargate SG-1 team. Of course, the sets also have that nice yellow and some great beasts...

Alright, let's see... oh yeah, Super Heros are left. That new Batcave looks really cool and sufficiently cartoony, but in my humble opinion, the build-a-hero sets are utterly hideous. The Joker, in particular, actually kinda scares me.

Blockman

EDIT: @The Reviewer - Yep, gotta agree on that. Dino really is cool, but will probably need to pick 'em up as while they last. As far as Pharaoh's quest goes, I wouldn't be too sure that we have seen the last of Jake Raines. LEGO has spent too much on advertising him to just let him go after a year. I would guess they might try to make him this generation's Johnny Thunder. Of course, as we all know, no one can replace Johnny Thunder.

Posted by MLP in United Kingdom, 08 Nov 2011 10:49

Is it me or does anybody else think 4438 looks more like it should be the bandits hideout cabin than a forest police command centre. Maybe it's something to do with the fact that in the picture the robbers are already in the cabin and the police are trying to get in.

Posted by DXninja9000 in United States, 08 Nov 2011 11:51

HF is AWESOME!!! I'm gonna buy Surge. Also, I like the Bionicle-ish look to the boxes.

Posted by Jay Kenobi ZX in United States, 08 Nov 2011 13:14

It looks like HERO Factory has a hero and a villain for each environment, judging from the backgrounds. I wish they had different helmets, though. AND WHERE IS STORMER?
Maybe the heroes aren't rookies anymore and each have their own seperate assignments on different worlds?

Posted by the brownie in Ireland, 08 Nov 2011 16:02

The new hero factory sets look amazing i love the new (and old) heads. I agree, it looks like a much darker theme. Definitly getting these

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 09 Nov 2011 14:43

most of them are now available on LEGO s@h
