Santa YodaThe LEGO CEC team has asked me to tell you about an event in San Francisco this coming weekend to benefit the Toys For Tots charity:

"San Francisco Bay Area Families are invited to Help LEGO® Master Builders Construct a 12-foot tall by 10-foot wide LEGO® Star Wars™ Santa Yoda out of LEGO bricks.

"It's a three-day community build where families will help LEGO Master Builders to create a 12-foot tall by 10-foot wide LEGO Star War Santa Yoda made entirely of LEGO bricks to kick-off a countdown to the holidays found at www.legosantayoda.com. Children and parents will be invited to build a portion of Santa Yoda which LEGO Master Builders will then add to the larger than life model"

It's taking place on Friday, November 18th to Sunday, November 20th, 10am-6pm daily (or until completed) at Union Square (next to the seasonal ice skating rink), San Francisco.

If you're in the area head on down and let us know how you get on!

I live about an hour from San Francisco so I am sure I will attend. I will update as often as I can.

Hmmmm.....if you announce these large-scale model events, I should contact you guys yearly about the one in Downtown Disney for "Festival of the Masters".

The ones at the Orlando LEGO Store are only 8 ft tall, however.... :P

For the third time in my life, I wish I wasn't in Southern CA.

Just came back from the Santa Yoda build at Union Square in San Francisco. It was just in the beginning stages, nothing but red bricks (2x4, 1x8, 2x8) at the moment. Not as many people as I expected, I thought I'd have to fight to get at the bricks, but plenty of room to build their their 8x16x4 mega bricks. They've got a solid foundation on the feet but not much else. I'll upload a few photos to my flickr.com account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/61995580@N02/
