Advent day 11

  • Advent day 11

Posted by Huw, 11 Dec 2011 15:21. Filed under Advent countdown.

Day 11I'm sure we all have too many Battle Droids as it is, but at least this one has a blue torso which is not particularly common compared to the tan one, having appeared in just two sets until now (8036, 7662). BrickLink doesn't differentiate between those that are painted and those which are not for some reason, but I'm sure I've seen painted ones before. (Update: it does, I just wasn't looking in the right place)

Police stationOur police station is taking shape nicely now, it now has a door. Not a very secure one, by the looks of things though, it's more like an archway. Maybe there's a force field or something to keep the baddies in and the toilet rolls out...

Yes! I was so much happy for the battle droid. So far I had only those from 7121 Naboo Swamp. So this guy could be theire commander. Roger, roger!

About the City Calender - As I was saying before - I think it is fresh idea to slowly complete a bigger model istead of having a lot af small stuff with minifigs like it was in the previous years. Lets see if this concept will be sucessful in future.

I see you have squeezed a toilet roll joke in, they're priceless arent they? What a good police station so far! No glass, no door to the prison or the station...

Yay, toilet roll jokes are back! :D XD

Unfortunately, as you know, Bricklink is dependent on the contributors.
It does differentiate between printed and non-printed torsos, and this torso is the same as in the Battle of Naboo set, 7929.
Whoever contributed this inventory, either had a different fig in their calendar, or mistakenly entered the wrong fig.
Search for 30375* to see the various different print patterns on the torsos.

A Toilet Roll Joke. -____-
It must be some kind of force field or something. There must also be one on the roof, too. I mean come on, some good baddies could be throwing toilet rolls over the top. That's no good for the poor lowly police man. There's probably a forcefield though.

The blue Battle Droid also comes with the MTT.

C'mon Huw, we all know if they put in a door we'd have to pay an extra $2.80. :P

Thanks @JGadget, although I can now find the painted part by following the inventory for 7929 it doesn't appear in the search you suggest, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&q=30375%2A&catLike=W&v=1

I think it is a trust prison, they put the criminals in there and say:
"Now promise you won't just walk out the door"
"Oh we won't..."

TooMuchLego: Ha! :P Too true!
I got the MTT, but this blue battle droid looks different... the Torso is not completely blue. Is this the new version?
The police station is turning out nicely, I must admit. I do like this idea of slowly buidlnig a building, I just wish it was something more Christmas related like Santa's toy shop or a charity house. I guess this is more of an experiment :)

Could we have a photo of the station so far please Huw? I didn't get a LEGO calendar this year, but I might be about to break down and get one for the two weeks that are left....

According to my 10 year old (who would know) the blue battle droid is a pilot. He knew it the minute he saw it because he has his Lego Star Wars Visual Dictionary memorized. I was clueless myself, but I don't like anything made after 1983 ;)

@Huw. I should have been more specific, sorry.
That search reveals all the patterns, including 30375ps2, torso with tan insignia pattern.
Clicking on that shows that the pattern exists on both dark red and blue torsos.

Toilet roll jokes FTW! :P And yes, I'm sure it's a force field.

@LegoCoastGuard, I don't know if it was added after your post or you just didn't see it, but what you see on the article is the station so far.

Posted by Zach99 in United States, 11 Dec 2011 19:36

The battle droid is the new battle droid pilot that has only ever came with the Battle of Naboo(blue torso with tan chest is rare... it only comes in 2 sets sw advent calender and Battle of Naboo)

Posted by Bobszaar in United States, 11 Dec 2011 22:22

@Huw- wouldn't the set be 7662 rather than 7762 if you're referring to the Trade federation MTT? I tried the link, but nothing came up ...

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 11 Dec 2011 23:33

^jgadget has it right. It's 7929, Battle of Naboo. There are two Battle Droids that are pilots in that kit with partially blue torsos. Some tan in the middle chest area.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 12 Dec 2011 03:52

@jgadget, ah yes, you're right, I was looking for a blue photo

@legocoastguard, the photo is of the three sections of the police station we've had so far.

The police "house" actually reminds me of a skit from MTV's "The State" back in the 90's. There was a prison in the American South where the prisonyard had a huge open arch that the prisoners were not to go through "as a personal favor" from the warden. One goes through it while the warden is napping, but years later and overtaken by guilt, the convict returns to the prison. The warden then secures the gate by putting up the orange warning cones in front of the archway. Does anyone else remember that?

@sonsofsceva - That skit ruled!
