Great for the UK!

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 15 Dec 2011 09:24

Is there any chance of them getting withdrawn again, if TLG got wind of stores breaking the official release?

Posted by richselby in United Kingdom, 15 Dec 2011 09:25

I noticed my local WHSmiths had upped the price of S5 figs from GBP2.00 to 2.50. Ouch! Although whenever you buy anything, they give you a 10% off voucher valid for all purchases the following week. So maybe worthwhile buying something now, to get the voucher, and going back later to get your figs.

Posted by princedraven in United Kingdom, 15 Dec 2011 09:29

@richselby, was your WHSmiths in a station? They normally mark them up. The ones I got from Smiths in Holborn were £1.99. Also, only voucher the till printed was for 20% off Printer Ink Cartridges.

Posted by Delatron in United Kingdom, 15 Dec 2011 10:08

Stations and airports mark up the figs to £2.50, stores are still £1.99. If you haven't already, it's worth joining the WH Smiths priviledge club for the vouchers you get when you join. Costs nothing, takes 10 mins and the vouchers are to print out and use so you can just re-print and return for more! I did it for series 4, it worked out at £1.60 per fig.

Shame I dont get paid until the 22nd, I would love to grab these up now! Oh well, Christmas shopping detour I think....

We should see them in Canada in about 2 months then!

Someone posted a link to this on eurobricks. Clever Lego marketing or fan video?

WHSmith in the Overgate in Dundee currently have about 5 boxes of series 6, along with one remaining box of series 5. :)

Posted by richselby in United Kingdom, 15 Dec 2011 10:39

@Delatron: Thanks for that. Have just signed up here
http://www.whsmithforms.co.uk/whsmithprivilegeclub.php

A few mins later I got emailed some PDF format vouchers to print. The relevant ones were 5.00 off when spending 25.00 in anything in store, and 5.00 when spending 12.00 or more on toys. Vouchers valid until 31st Dec.

Can't see any strings attached. And I can't see anything to prevent me from printing the vouchers several times and re-using.

This is fantastic news, I can't wait to get my hands on these figs!

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 15 Dec 2011 10:47

They have them in WHSmiths Cirencester. Off to pick up my complete box after work! Thanks for the early heads up!

Posted by mrwhizzard in United Kingdom, 15 Dec 2011 10:50

@richselby.
I have often printed off duplicates of the Club Vouchers and had no issues. 7 cmfs for £8.93 with the £5 off £12 toys spend voucher. Is how I've obtained most CMFs :)

Dont even really need to be a member, the link to the monthly vouchers are quite often posted on deal sites.

S6 confirmed in stock at WH Smith, Swansea.

Additionally, for those wishing to use aforementioned vouchers, linky here (if not ok then please edit and remove Huw):

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for any sight of these showing up in Canada. Here's hoping they get here before Christmas!

Posted by legobuilderstudios in United Kingdom, 15 Dec 2011 11:46

Not bad! I might be going shopping and if I do I will try to see if I could buy these!

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 15 Dec 2011 12:00

Has anyone seen them in the U.S? (or in southern California?) I went to my local TRU yesterday and they still have series 5 and this time of year it's annoying to go there since it is so crowded and the employees bieng hogged up with clueless parents.

Posted by meccanotwitch in United Kingdom, 15 Dec 2011 12:21

@revilo44 has a point, I for one would be willing to swap exra minifigs I have for ones I don't to help complete my collection and help other do the same.

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 15 Dec 2011 13:07

Mostly gone from TRU Poole now, but I did manage to bag 1 Centurion and 1 Minotaur. TRU Southampton has a healthy crop (but only 1 Centurion, so he came home with me). Will be heading to Poole tomorrow for some hunting!

Posted by EliteLeader99/brickboy2 in United States, 15 Dec 2011 13:10

Posted by Jdawg26 in Canada, 15 Dec 2011 19:04

Posted by brix in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2011 02:10

The LEGO Shop in London Westfield had them - but aren't allowed to sell them until Boxing Day! Argh!

Luckily the WHS next door had them behind the till, so I now have: 1xMinotaur (awsome!), 1xGrey Alien (so cool!), 2xGenie, 2xCenturion, 1xSkater Girl, 1xButcher (looks a bit sinister!), 1xSurgeon and 1xTeddy Bear Boy (Aww!).

Hurrah!

Posted by richselby in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2011 04:38

The pink space girl is a dead ringer for the blonde one from Abba. And love the silver lipstick!

Posted by mrwhizzard in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2011 05:14

In stock at TRU, Swansea, though picked up 7 figs from the local WH Smith for £8.93.

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 16 Dec 2011 06:47

Darn. I was hoping I wouldn't have to start saving money until well into the New Year. 'Cause I love this line, I want all 16.

And actually, wanting all 16 makes a cheat-sheet unnecessary. I just have to make sure each bag I grab has unique bumps on the bottom, and I'll pick all 16 by default.

Posted by SilentMode in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2011 07:21

Westfield Shepherds Bush has them behind the counter. Should be possible to obtain a box this time around.

Posted by brix in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2011 09:29

WHSmith Canterbury have them - i got 2: the minotaur and space girl :)

Posted by weirdduck in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2011 11:49

Nothing at whs at the fort near Birmingham, or whs Sutton coldfield

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2011 16:18

WHSmith Eastbourne have 'em.

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2011 16:57

WHSmith at York has them, I bought 5, but no Romans :(

Posted by Zander in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2011 17:25

WHS at the Plaza Centre, Oxford Street, London had 3 boxes at the self-checkout till at lunchtime today.

I got all the ones I was after:

Mino x3
Genie x2
Leprechaun x2
Statue of Lib x2
Highlander x2
Butcher x2
Legionnaire x2
Sleepy Guy x1

I used the tactile method to identify them.
- Mino can be ID'ed from the combination of his bar and the bulk of his head.
- Leprechaun from his hat
- Legionnaire from his spear
- Highlander mainly from his sword but also his hair and shield
- Butcher from his cleaver and T-bone
- Statue from the combination of her dress and torch
- Genie mainly from his lamp but also his turban

The Sleepy Guy was the hardest to find by feel.

Hope the above helps. Good luck in you minifig hunting quest!

smiths in Derby confirmed - got 11 from 11 different packs, really chuffed! They wouldn't ring up the voucher for spend £12 on toys get £5 off, but would on the £5 off a £20 spend - not bad at all. Love the butcher.....

Posted by DOLEGO1986 in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2011 14:17

Found 12 packets at Toys R Us Swansea today, so I bought them all!

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 19 Dec 2011 17:57

Managed to find a Roman (the spear), minotaur (bulky and fairly common), butcher (hat and bone, but tricky), and space girl (by accident). Think the robot is going to be tricky.
