9489 Endor battle packContinuing with my mini-reviews of the new Star Wars sets, it's time now to look at the least exciting of them, the Endor battle pack.

The set consists of two rebel troopers, one of whom has a new torso print, two imperial troopers (which you'll recall have the new printed heads), a bit of tree and a speeder bike.

I say it's the least exciting because the tree is unremarkable and the speeder is virtually identical to that in last year's 7956 Ewok Attack.

9489 Endor battle pack The minifigs are OK but not a patch on the elite clone troopers in the other battle pack. However there is good variety, each one being different, and if you can afford 10 or so of these packs you'll be able to put together a pretty good Endor battle scene.

This is not an essential purchase like many of the other new SW sets and given it's currently priced at £13 (it'll probably be $13 in the USA), this is definitely one to wait for until it plummets in price at Amazon or can be had in a 3-for-2 offer somewhere.

"Not an essential purchase"? I disagree, sir. I hold Endor related sets as a higher priority than any other Star Wars, followed closely by Hoth. After that, any else that looks interesting.

Also, I notice that they have reverted to the speeder bikes which can only hold one minifig. I'm glad they did that, the other ones look kind of awkward.

It's a Battle Pack, so I'll get it.

I was disapointed how they made just one battlepack with opposing sides. I wish they made rebel cammando battlepack and a Scoutrooper battlepack.

Meh, not to bad. I just wish they hadn't changed the stormtrooper torso print. This means they will stand out from the other troopers...

LEGO should really redesign the Imperial Scout Trooper's torso, give it the back printing, and give it the proper leg printing to match Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

The speeder bike in this set is a massive improvement over the one included in the ewok set from last year. The reason for this is that the new speeder bike has a smooth domed piece underneath its front half meaning you can push it along the ground without it getting stuck. I also think the mini figs in this set are awesome

11.99 so 12 dollars in the US(USD)

I like that the scout trooper has the right gun now, rather than the short blaster they used to always give him. The new torso print is great on the rebel but I wish the second rebel didn't have creepy clone wars lines on his face
