    The Town Hall might have disappeared from the Romanian toy shop's website but not before forum member dodys bought one in the store itself.

    He's currently building it and taking photos as he goes which he's posting in the forum. So, while we wait for an official announcement on the set's release and accompanying images, take a look at the model under construction.

    The set is expected to cost around €210, £170, $250, based on the Romanian price of 900 RON.

It can't be too long until it is actually released then in the rest of the world surely? Does Romania often get things like this early as they sneak out of the factory...?

Wow, $250? I'm assuming that's USD. If that's the case this set will be closer to $300 CDN. If the price ends up being that high I'll pass on the Town Hall and get the Pet Shop. I was barely willing to shell out $220 for the Green Grocer. $300 is way too much.

The first floor of the Town Hall does look great though. It's the second and third floors that I find blocky and plain.

If that price tag is correct then I'll regretibly skip this and buy the pet shop instead. I dont play more than £150 for a set it it is a crazy amount of money and I can't afford it.

Don't worry about US or Canadian dollars. Wait until it hits Australia. Lego will add a cople more zero's to the price for us. LOL

no way will this be $250. Far more goes into pricing than just straight currency conversions. An early leak of the price was $179, and calculations based on size and piece count put it closer to the $190 range. My money is on $199 or less.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere earlier that the U.K price was £149.99, and this makes more sense because of the conversion from the U.S pricing. For countries like Romania, the conversion is significantly inflated.

The pricing in different countries is never equivalent. So if you are trying to convert from the Romanian price, you will probably be wrong. Here in the US we usually pay less but my friends in Canada get a much higher price unfortunately. I felt so bad, that I married a Canadian so she can get better Lego deals... of course she had to give up universal healthcare... but those Canadian Lego prices are really high.

Hopefully the conversion doesn't equate the actual US price.

How does a roughly 25% increase in size (from Grand Emporium) cause a 66% increase in price?
Doesn't make sense.

I'm still hoping for a $180 price point, anything more I'll have to wait for some deal or sale.

It sure won't be $180, as that would work out around £120 which is already the price of the Pet Shop (and that was 500 bricks less!).

I've done some calculations, and it makes sense if it was $180 USD.

The Grand Emporium is 750 RON = $216 USD. Thats a large amount over the $150 price. So if we say that 750 RON set is the equivalent of an 900 RON set, it is easy to do the math and figure out what the accurate USD price is... which is $180.

If you need me to prove the math, I will, but I think I explained it pretty well ;)

Is LEGO trying to destroy the modular line with this possible excessive price? That town hall does not need to be that big. I wish they would make smaller/cheaper modular sets.

Anyway, we should wait until official RRPs before piling on. There's reason to believe the Romanian price was high because of a possible early availability premium.

For example, the not yet released Sony PS Vita can currently sell in the west for as much as $500, but that doesn't mean that will be the RRP when it is released outside Japan in February, which I think is more like $250 USD.

I'd guess Fire Brigade pricing will prevail.

My wishful thinking estimate is $200, based on 26.7% more parts than the Grand Emporium. $150 x 127% = $190.5 + some inflation. Threw out estimates based on the Pet Shop because it had more parts, but a lot of those were smaller parts and would have produced an overly optimistic estimate.

I really cannot fathom this being over $199.99, based both on piece/cost analysis and just plain common sense. I think we all realize that after 4 years at the same price point, an increase in the Modular pricing is likely due. That being said, a 33% increase to $200 would seem to be the logical extreme for a one-year price jump. Anything over that price results in a serious psychological impact that could potentially impact sales of the item in a major way. Given that issue, plus the price/piece calculations, it is hard to envision a scenario where this eclipses $200.

As previously stated, I'd rather pay slightly more per modular going forward, and receive feature rich sets with complete interiors, than continue to pay the old price and get sets which feel incomplete, lacking in features, or just not complete.
