Yes, thanks Huw! I already have 2 procured on my behalf :-)

Posted by KillDeer in Canada, 22 Jan 2012 12:26

By weight that must be the most expensive thing ever in the history of man. Soon we'll be trading raw diamonds for 2x2s

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 22 Jan 2012 12:35

Most expensive actual Lego set ever?

Posted by George G. in United Kingdom, 22 Jan 2012 12:59

So do you pay $5 to get JUST Stephanie, or pay $5 and get set 3930 which includes Stephanie as well as 45 pieces?
LOGIC!

Posted by Phenix in United States, 22 Jan 2012 13:18

Actually, 3930 is $5.99, so you best be prepared to spend an extra dollar to get those 40 extra peices. =0)
Then again, a $5.99 set at most TRU is actually $6.99 (especially when they mark up new sets in the first few months), so I say avoid TRU altogether and you won't get ripped off.

Posted by Toyz4me in United States, 22 Jan 2012 13:19

Who's idea at Lego or TRU was to actually charge for this bag?! Given it's only a 5pcs figure, why not use it to give away as a promotion for friends? WOW!! $1 a piece.

Posted by Rolyat24 in United States, 22 Jan 2012 13:46

This should be illegal.

Posted by Odeinoichus in Canada, 22 Jan 2012 13:50

That's insane. Really, LEGO made a Polybag set that is worse than the Impulse Space Police Speeder or Atlantis Manta Warrior sets? Good God. What's this 2x2 stud even look like? Is it like a unique printing or something?

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 22 Jan 2012 13:54

I find paying USD$1000 for the Cloud City set on eBay more worth it than this. Not like I have, though....

Posted by refriedbeans in United States, 22 Jan 2012 15:16

I might have to buy this too... (Curse you Lego Friends!)

Posted by 18000pieces in United States, 22 Jan 2012 16:00

The 2x2 is made out of solid gold.

Posted by wunztwice in United States, 22 Jan 2012 16:04

Thank God I am not a completest...

Posted by yys4u in United States, 22 Jan 2012 16:07

This is not the way to win Lego Friends fans. Fail TLG, Fail.

Chance this will sell well: 2/100.

Posted by TooMuchLEGO in United States, 22 Jan 2012 17:09

Notice it's TRU with the price mark up.

Posted by Bobszaar in United States, 22 Jan 2012 17:13

I don't like the Friends theme much, but this is even more ridiculous than a Duplo Set (though those are big pieces). Toys 'R' Us is what should be known to toy collectors as the ultimate ripoff, unless you buy an exclusive set, of course. But even then, I find it cheaper to get it off Lego.com, like the Y-Wing. Epic. Fail.

I'd guess this "will" be a free pack for some upcoming sale. I've noticed since the Christmas shopping season started TRU jacked-up their prices on small stuff HARD. I've bought stuff with the old, lower price sticker covered over. I'd guess the Lego business probably outsells all the other toys right now. The days of TRU being a toy "superstore" are long over.

Don't feel bad about Lego.... Collectible Card Games like Magic are marked up a whole $1 per pack above MSRP as well. I've been in that market a lot longer and "MSRP" is well over $1 retail markup and it's not hard to find a $3.99 pack for $2.85...

TRU has definitely lost whatever edge they had in the 80's and 90's when they were THE place to get the cool toys and video games cheaper than anybody else.

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 22 Jan 2012 22:08

TRU has the best selection but has the WORST prices. (I don't care about this whole new Friends theme) I agree though I would rather pay a grand for the Cloud City set instead of this.

Posted by tiberium_blue in United Kingdom, 23 Jan 2012 03:38

I guess they forgot to remove the piece count from polybags like they have been from other sets to hide the ever increasing price to piece ratio.

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 23 Jan 2012 03:58

$5 for 5 pieces?

Seriously, Lego, are you just going to start mugging people next? Yikes.

Posted by Nerd in United States, 23 Jan 2012 10:04

$5 for 5 parts sounds a lot like Duplo pricing. I hate LEGO Friends even more now.

Posted by voypro in United States, 23 Jan 2012 10:10

Hold on everyone! Your missing TLG's marketing logic. It could be argued the apparent target group of the "Friends" series is a batch of this generation Buffy's. Doesn't it make sense that girls too... shall we say "challenged" for regular Lego's would not be exactly sharp at math either? Has everyone forgotten when talking Barbie professed "Math Class is Tough"?

(Yes, I am serious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO0cvqT1tAE)

@voypro
Ha. Ha.

Posted by vamproe in United States, 23 Jan 2012 10:54

gotta remember this is TRU pricing we are talking.

My TRU told me this set was supposed to be saved to be given away at the Lego Friends Lemonade stand building event to be help Feb 4th.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 23 Jan 2012 17:49

^^ That sounds likely and it's probably on sale beforehand so TRU can say 'a $4.99 value' when doing so.

Posted by legogirl19 in United States, 24 Jan 2012 00:34

This set, 5000245, is currently a free promo along with your choice of 1 of the 5 $11.99 sets, when you purchase $75 worth of Friends Lego @ my local TRU in AZ! I also found the 30105 Friends Valentine Set at Target today too, for $3.99!

Posted by dehnehsu in United States, 24 Jan 2012 02:06

I also picked up polybag set 30105 at Target, and it looks to be the same Stephanie as the Toys R Us bag. I think the Toys R Us set includes a 2x2 light Blue Brick. The Target set has 41 pieces for $1.00 less.

Posted by haynau in Austria, 24 Jan 2012 04:22

Anyone noticed how she looks? She's CROSSING HER ARMS! So you cannot use that a fig a lot, since you can't make her hold anything in her hands. Does the actual fig look like on the pic on the polybag?
