New feature: Minifig browser

  • New feature: Minifig browser

Posted by Huw, 22 Feb 2009 15:35. Filed under Brickset.

I've completed the next part of integrating BrickLink's minifig data into Brickset. The Minifig Browser (linked to on the Browse tab) lets you see all minifigs in a particular theme and the sets they appear in. The sets in the list are coloured green if you own them (and you're logged in) making it a breeze to see which minifigs you own in the sets you own.

I'm not done yet with this, I'll add more features when I find the time (and can think of them!)

What about a parts inventory? And with those parts, you can see what sets you can build but don't own.

cool

THIS IS PERFECT!!!! Thank you for responding to my suggestion. This is the next step to making this site so much better.

What about a feature which shows how rare a minifigure is to find? They could be rated as Common, Uncommon,
Rare,or Extremely Rare. I just thought it was a good idea. :)

Posted by abag in United States, 22 Feb 2009 16:28

awesome, but what about the ones i bought from a friend, yardsale ect

Posted by Yoda 56 in United States, 22 Feb 2009 16:33

How about a minifig counter? You know when you check the sets you own, in the right top corner you see the number of sets you own, you could add a counter that tells you the total number of minifigs you own! That would be awesome!

That's a lovely new feature.

great idea!

Great! But I have a couple of episode 2 clones and not the old gunship or At-Te (brother got them from a friend I think). Can you make something that would show minifigs you own but don't have the sets for? I know a lot of people buy individual minifigs on eBay, too.

What about something that lists the individual minifigures you own from the setsthat you own?? That way you could keep track of your collection.

Posted by littlelegoluke in United States, 22 Feb 2009 20:53

that's cool a list of all figs u own would be cool.

Nice feature, I like it.

Posted by jamal_lts in Singapore, 22 Feb 2009 22:20

Kudos!

Posted by TheLegoBrick in Philippines, 23 Feb 2009 05:52

I too would find it useful if the was a list of figs you own.

Posted by Smallsam99 in United States, 23 Feb 2009 05:56

Great feature, but a list of minifigs you own would help me alot more with keeping up with my collection.

Posted by dragon_teenager in United States, 23 Feb 2009 10:34

Brilliant. I've already found this extremely useful.

Posted by dragon_teenager in United States, 23 Feb 2009 10:36

One question: Why isn't Orient Expedition listed under Adventurers? Technically it's a subtheme, right?

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 23 Feb 2009 15:54

dragon_teenager (2-23-09, 10:36 AM):

Actually, -although both have Johnny Thunder- Orient Expedition is it's own theme.

Exo-Brick:

That would take FOREVER. As if the Minifig and Minifig Browser features didn't take long enough. (Thanks for making the features anyway, Huw)

Posted by longtowner in United Kingdom, 23 Feb 2009 17:34

Great work yet again - very useful indeed to have the set picture right next to the minifig, saves a lot of to-ing and fro-ing.
Not sure about the first one here though(!)

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 23 Feb 2009 17:53

@longtowner: there is some discrepancy between Brickset and BrickLink for sets with the same number. This looks like being one of them. I'll fix that when I next do an update

Posted by hustla187 in United States, 23 Feb 2009 20:46

Do Rock Monsters count as minifigs(I'm referring to the Rock Raiders theme)?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 24 Feb 2009 07:43

@hustla187, apparently not according to http://www.brickset.com/minifig/browse/?theme=Rock%20Raiders

jonbuddy

Peeron has one, but it makes you import sets from Lugnet, which I don't have an account for.

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 24 Feb 2009 19:43

That's because that is what Peeron is for.

Posted by BionicleBOOM in United States, 24 Feb 2009 19:47

Pretty useful, but not for me unfortunately, when pretty much the only LEGOs I collect nowadays are BIONICLES. That's me, BionicleBOOM.

Posted by lowzeewee in Singapore, 25 Feb 2009 02:34

Posted by jakelongdragon in United States, 25 Feb 2009 05:36

This is really an AWESOME feature!!! Thanks Huw! You're the best!

Posted by Mr. F in Canada, 25 Feb 2009 12:15

Smart thinking, Huw!

Posted by hustla187 in United States, 25 Feb 2009 20:24

How about a special section on rare minifigures? That would be cool.

Posted by Exo-brick in United States, 26 Feb 2009 20:06

By the way Huw, all of these additions are greatly useful for me and others in the brickset comunity. Thank you.

Posted by MightyMuggsandLegoSets in United Kingdom, 27 Feb 2009 14:00
