10225 R2-D2 Close UpHaunted House? The video's been pulled for re-editing, but the cat's out of the bag already...

FBTB has posted screen captures of the 'offending' scenes, including these close-ups of the sets in question: 10225 R2-D2 and what is believed to be 10228 Haunted House, which is probably scheduled for an October release.

r2d2 is looking nice! i also like the haunted house (especially the ghosts).

Posted by RainingBoroSi02 in United States, 16 Feb 2012 17:51

What series/theme does the Haunted House go with?

Posted by Savage_Steel in United Kingdom, 16 Feb 2012 17:53

The Haunted house looks epic! It's from the Monster hunters theme I think

Posted by DaddyDeuce in United States, 16 Feb 2012 17:54

Most likely the new Monster Hunters theme, or perhaps a new Halloween theme to complement Winter Village?

Posted by voypro in United States, 16 Feb 2012 18:07

I will buy both of these.

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 16 Feb 2012 18:08

Just added the Haunted House to my Want list! This year is getting better and better everyday.

Posted by LostInTranslation in United Kingdom, 16 Feb 2012 18:13

^ Agreed. Must have Haunted House.

Posted by CDC in Slovenia, 16 Feb 2012 18:15

10228 Haunted House is a must buy for me, whoa ! can't wait for better pictures.

Posted by skipper1011 in United States, 16 Feb 2012 18:37

I would hope the Haunted House is part of the modular buildings... every town has a haunted/worn-down house. If the Haunted House is not in the Modular line, I hope it has pegs on the side so that it can connect with my other buildings.

Posted by Si_Dorking_Surrey in United Kingdom, 16 Feb 2012 18:42

October release would make more sense, for halloween.
Fantastic haunted house - it looks like the creator house I always hoped they'd do. Monster hunters looks set to be a classic.

Whats that other thing, a life-size pedal bin? :0)

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 16 Feb 2012 18:44

I adore the look of that haunted house. Yeah, it looks like it could just be a new modular building, it's definitely large enough.

Posted by legoupdater1980 in Ireland, 16 Feb 2012 18:47

Muuuuuuuuuuuust get the r2d2 :O

Posted by Thomson & Thompson in Canada, 16 Feb 2012 19:01

Haunted House looks pretty detailed.

Posted by dougts in United States, 16 Feb 2012 19:13

I honestly don't believe the HH will be part of the Monster Fighter's theme myself. Yes, they obviously have things in common, but I would be shocked if it's branded as MF. More likely it will be non-branded like Modulars or Large Scale Models, as it will be on the shelves LONG after MF enjoys it's 6-9 month run.

but I guess will have to wait and see.

Posted by vynsane in United States, 16 Feb 2012 19:35

The house doesn't seem in keeping with the Modular series, unless it's a corner building à la Cafe Corner, with connections on two adjacent sides. I'd venture, though, that it's a new Holiday series in the same vein as Winter Village as DaddyDeuce posited. Then again, it looks quite a bit larger than the Winter Village offerings, so who knows?

Posted by gman13579 in United States, 16 Feb 2012 19:44

I. I have to have R2D2. Must haveee

Posted by duilim in Australia, 16 Feb 2012 19:44

R2 looks great as does the haunted house, but unfortunately, I'm not really too excited by it. I doesn't really seem in keeping with the current Modular Theme and to be honest, it will look a little strange alongside the current/past modular buildings. Don't get me wrong - it looks to be very wel designed and I am sure that it will be a popular set. It's just that I would have preferred a Library, Museum or even a Cinema - something that I could integrate into my City than this.
So the Town Hall is a must - the Haunted House on the other hand will be easy for me to pass on.

Posted by skipper1011 in United States, 16 Feb 2012 19:44

@ vynsane Yes, it would seem that it could be a corner building (e.g. Grand Emporium).

Posted by blomper in United States, 16 Feb 2012 19:46

I am in agreement of how great they both look. I wonder if R2 will have a motor?

Posted by ericjohn in United States, 16 Feb 2012 20:13

The modular buildings connect because they are all built on a standard square plate system. The Haunted House does not have a square base as evidenced by the side covered entrance. Also the fence is right against the edge of the base meaning that it would not line up with the modular building sidewalk grid. I'd bet this is an offering to all who wished for a Halloween scene when ogling the Winter Village sets. This is a stand alone model for sure.

Posted by Graysmith in Sweden, 16 Feb 2012 20:17

I hope LEGO are doing a Winter Village type of thing with a new "Haunted Village" set released each October.

Either way, I'll definitely get that Haunted House. Looks ridiculously amazing.

Posted by Zrath in United States, 16 Feb 2012 20:40

I'm not normally into buildings and houses but holy crap I want that haunted house! :D
Artoo looks nice, I doubt I will buy one though. When it comes to UCS, I prefer spaceships.

Posted by llanowarsoldier in United States, 16 Feb 2012 20:57

Haunted house will be mine! With it being much more detailed than the Monsters theme, it's probably along the lines of the Winter Village series or just a 1 time deal.

Posted by kuf in United States, 16 Feb 2012 21:14

Must buy Haunted House. It is too awesome not too. Will be a great featured Halloween decoration too.

Posted by legos in United States, 16 Feb 2012 21:26

I think the Haunted House is most likley from the modular line because of 2 reasons:1 modulars usually have a 5-diget set number and 2: The Monster Fighter sets have all already been revealed [as far as we know], so I'm guessing it's modular.

Posted by fox171171 in United States, 16 Feb 2012 21:54

Haunted house looks like it would stand alone. Which for this type of house seems for the best. Whenever you saw a house like this in an old B&W movie, it wasn't attached to other houses! It would be good to be scaled for the modulars, to be used with them, just nearby, not attached.

Also, although I did not see the video, just some pictures, it seems like this was done on purpose. The room appears devoid of almost everything, except lights/cameras/mics, and a table and chair. Doesn't seem like a set-up where you'd see the video after and say "Whoops! I forgot that R2 unit was sitting there!" And then "Hey, someone moved the R2 and put the haunted house there!"

Posted by Zackula in United States, 16 Feb 2012 21:55

So Lego is releasing the Haunted House and Monster Fighters in the same year? Why don't they just reach into my pants and take my wallet to make it easier on me?

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 16 Feb 2012 22:17

I doubt LEGO did this by mistake, it's just a marketing ploy.

That being said, both these sets look ace!

Posted by skipper1011 in United States, 16 Feb 2012 22:41

Regardless if the haunted house is a modular or not, I will be buying the set. I have an attraction for detailed LEGO buildings. As for the R2-D2, I might be buying it but it depends how much extra cash I have in wallet...

Posted by charfdorn in United States, 16 Feb 2012 23:16

I must have this haunted house. It looks too good to be a stock model.

Posted by Mr_K in United States, 16 Feb 2012 23:36

The video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=dDj_zA1v450

The sets appear at the beginning.

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 17 Feb 2012 00:29

I'd be worried about a new once-a-year Haunted Halloween theme, myself. We only got three buildings from the Winter Village (and still no hotel or restaurant or train station).

I agree that it might not be a modular building (since no, it clearly doesn't fit neatly around a 32 x 32 baseplate, not from the side or front-fence). But if it's not Monster Fighers, I wonder where it fits?

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 17 Feb 2012 00:45

I love the haunted house, but in the off chance it's a modular I promise you I'm not buying it. I didn't get Cafe Corner so I simply gave up with the modular cash cow. They all look awesome, but I'm not made of money and living in Canada makes getting exclusives at US prices really hard.

I can't wait for the haunted house!

Posted by Jrad in Australia, 17 Feb 2012 01:32

ITs monster fighters; this set is not a modular shape its all over the joint; perhaps they want to prlong the monster theme by selling it in october which is also halloweens

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 17 Feb 2012 02:27

These both look great! I am so glad they brick built R2-D2 and did not repeat this abomination: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=8009-1

Posted by coyotelily in United Kingdom, 17 Feb 2012 02:51

Love the HH it reminds me of the kind of thing you dreamt of building as a kid. I have most of the modulate which I have more as an investment than anything else, but I think this is a keeper.

Posted by Nikola Bathory in Bulgaria, 17 Feb 2012 03:15

haha, TLG are such n00bs sometimes, they included stuff in this video they didn't want to show... I'm happy to know that there will be a Haunted House set, sound like a very good idea.

Posted by duilim in Australia, 17 Feb 2012 03:22

^actually, I'm not convinced that the leak wasn't intentional. I mean, to do it with one set maybe, but for it to happen twice? If it was an accident, then it's real carelessness on TLG's part, but somehow, I find it hard to believe that to be the case. If you ask me, TLG wanted to leak these shots......

Posted by legopants in Germany, 17 Feb 2012 03:22

Haunted House!!! Can't wait. Series of creepy, scary sets?

Posted by Peter1975 in Netherlands, 17 Feb 2012 03:23

I've found a lot of detailed pictures off the new Monsterfighters theme, for me it's clearly the haunted house belongs to this theme. It's certainly not a modular one. And besides, the Town Hall is this years modular building. I can't imagine Lego will put two modular houses on the market.
If anyone else is interested in some good pictures of the Monsterfighters theme;

http://www.fbtb.net/2012/02/12/lego-toy-fair-2012-monster-fighters/

Posted by LostInTranslation in United Kingdom, 17 Feb 2012 03:37

I think it is built on the scale of a modular building, just not one of 'the' Modulars. My guess is it will be designed to connect to them though it would certainly look out of place on that street. I reckon the demand for this will be huge.

Posted by legoguysw in United Kingdom, 17 Feb 2012 05:51

The Haunted House looks the wrong size for the Modulars line, what with the long driveway at the front. Rather, I think it'd this year's exclusive October reveal set- like the MMV, Imperial Flagship, Diagon Alley, and Kingdoms Joust. Admittedly, they're normally kept secret until the reveal in October, and LEGO hasn't done that good a job at hiding this one.

Posted by Firox 5000 in United Kingdom, 17 Feb 2012 07:01

That haunted house looks amazing, I want It now! I also like the R2 D2 they're doing (hope it's not too expensive).

Posted by voypro in United States, 17 Feb 2012 07:04

I would suggest to all if you do not have the UCS Yoda, you should consider buying it now. It sells on ebay for $150ish. When the UCS R2-D2 comes out it will likely sell for $299. Which will make the UCS Yoda seem like a steal at less than $250. So I am saying, the R2-D2 has the possibility of driving the UCS Yoda up a lot. ...just a thought.

Posted by brixton in Canada, 17 Feb 2012 07:47

The thing is I thought I wouldn't be spending a lot of money on LEGO this year and then they go a leak a shot of this gorgeous Haunted House. The R2D2 looks amazing too but I don't collect Star Wars sets. I believe that the Haunted House is a standalone set - not a part of Monster Fighters or the Modular Buildings. I wonder how much it will cost?

Posted by mysteriouspi in United States, 17 Feb 2012 09:28

R2-D2 looks cool; a lot more accurate than his Technic predecessor. I doubt I'll be buying either of these though.

Posted by vamproe in United States, 17 Feb 2012 10:25

i'm hoping this is a start of a halloween village (like the xmas one).
next year can be a cemetary

this piece looks awesome :)

Posted by brixton in Canada, 17 Feb 2012 10:31

@vamproe: I think that's a great idea. Imagine the brickfilming possibilities!

What other Halloween village sets would others like to see?

Maybe a witches coven. It's hard to think of others because the Monster Fighters theme covers a lot of the ideas such as Dracula's castle.

Posted by vamproe in United States, 17 Feb 2012 10:57

a haunted forest
cemetary
a gallows
a gillatean (sp)
a bell tower with a hunchback

Posted by LostInTranslation in United Kingdom, 17 Feb 2012 12:32

^ guillotine? :-)

Posted by skipper1011 in United States, 17 Feb 2012 13:11

Nah, a haunted village set with a withches cove just wouldn't work... if they are going to be doing a annual Halloween set, I hope it would be more like a (very) freaky old town, not with literal "monsters." I also don't think it will be part of Monster Fighters. The Haunted House looks nothing like the design mentality that TLG seems to be going with the Monster Fighters theme.

Posted by Firox 5000 in United Kingdom, 17 Feb 2012 13:28

I doubt it will be part of the modulate on monster fighters. Either a new haloween series or one off model.

Btw e new edited version of the video is now and like we expected does not include either model shots in the opening.

Posted by voypro in United States, 17 Feb 2012 15:26

RE mansion
Maybe they've licensed "The Adams Family" (or "The Munsters")

Posted by itsaturkey in United States, 17 Feb 2012 17:34

^ Hmm, the Haunted House doesn't look big enough to be the Munster's, but it could be the Adams Family. Though I highly doubt it. Then again, I highly doubted LotR so just don't listen to my 'instincts' :P

Posted by dougts in United States, 17 Feb 2012 18:22

it does bear a slight resemblance to the Adamm's Family house, but then again both are pretty much going for the "iconic haunted house" look, so it's more likely entirely coincidental. There is NO relevant current reason to have a marketing tie-in to AF at all, so I think it's extremely unlikely.

a Disney tie-in to Haunted Mansion would be much more likely to do given the existing license, but the house doesn't look right at all, so I'm still convinced it's just a generic, great looking, classic haunted house.

Posted by ngclarkiv in United States, 17 Feb 2012 22:02

Two words to continue the haunted series. Ghost town. It would be so awesome if Lego made a ghost town series with ghost hunter cowboys. This would be fantastic for a continuation of the monster fighter series.

Posted by WolfboyTheMasterofTheSword in United States, 17 Feb 2012 22:04

Eh its a good haunted house and R2 I just want the haunted house though.

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 17 Feb 2012 22:33

How fail of LEGO. XD

It's a great MOC & motorised too ...

Posted by bloxbot5 in United Kingdom, 18 Feb 2012 11:51

i have a feeling that the haunted house is like kingdom joust:
part of seris but not of storyline (falcon knight....)
last set of seris
released a little bit after......

anyone agree/disagree?

Posted by legogeek in United States, 18 Feb 2012 12:57

Love the Haunted House. Doesn't matter to me if it is Creator, Modular, Monster Fighters or a stand alone.... no matter what it is, it will make a nice addition to any town/city layout.

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 18 Feb 2012 15:53

@bloxbot5 It seems a little early for this exclusive set to make it's debut if its heralding the last of the new Monster Fighters line. If that's what your getting at.

Posted by labrat in United States, 18 Feb 2012 21:24

@vamproe, Don't forget a headless horseman. One with the pumpkin head from the LEGO game Monster 4 and a new black horse from LOTR.

Posted by bloxbot5 in United Kingdom, 19 Feb 2012 10:52

@Nightshroud99 yes you are right about the last bit, thats what i meant

The Haunted House looks as if it is inspired by Disneyland Paris' Phantom Manor...
