    More details...
    ©2012 LEGO Group

Valid Sunday 2/19 through Saturday 2/25, Buy One, Get One 50% Off ALL LEGO construction sets and board games.  And by ALL, Toys R Us is excluding Friends, Mindstorms and Star Wars.  As always, be sure to buy similarly priced sets to maximize your savings.  Additionally, try and find those sets as close to MSRP as possible.  While this is no easy task at Toys R Us these days, there are some deals to be had.  In store for example, I'd look at pairing the Robbers' Hideout (4438) with the Dynamic Duo Funhouse (6857) which will result in nearly 16%  Off MSRP.  Online for example, I'd pair the Grand Emporium (10211) with the Fire Brigade (10197) which will result in 25% Off MSRP.

UPDATE: The sale is live now (12:05am EST) and they are allowing 3 BOGO discounts per transaction.  Additionally, the Star Wars sale from last week is still live so you can use those sets to help get to the Free Shipping threshold.

Does this sale kick in at 12AM EST or in the morning at some point???

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 18 Feb 2012 23:43

@legolover9531: The sale EXCLUDES Star Wars Lego.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 18 Feb 2012 23:45

^^ It previously kicked off at midnight EST but lately has begun later. If I were you, I'd build your cart now and then just sporadically refresh it until the discounts generate. Recently, they have allowed 3 BOGO discounts per transaction so it might be worthwhile to also verify if that is still the case.

THx @yellowcastle!
There are some decent deals to be had, if you can get them :-)

Is the BOGO live right now? I do not see it yet

Posted by brankell5566 in Canada, 19 Feb 2012 00:02

^Not yet. As I said in the forum, TRU generally is slow at updating their site with the sale prices, so we may not be able to take advantage of this deal until the morning.

Posted by Legolover9531 in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:03

I know, I didn't notice it. Now I have to start choosing.

Posted by sidersdd in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:05

It's live now.

Posted by CountryBoy in Canada, 19 Feb 2012 00:09

posters are up however it's not being applied at check out :(

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:11

^^ Super cool. Good luck to everyone!

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:13

It is working for me.
Picked up a few sets.
At least you can pair the MMV with the Public transport center to get a good deal on both.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:15

Unimogs and Excavators have a limit of 2 and while the Unimog is 10 dollars over retail it is still a good deal IMO.

Posted by CountryBoy in Canada, 19 Feb 2012 00:17

I can't get it work :(

Posted by odindusk in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:18

If I don't completely suck at math tonight, you can buy the Winter Bakery and Post Office for about $87.50 before tax. Not bad if you need them.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:20

Even better, the Star Wars promotion is still live. So you can use the Star Wars sets to get to the Free Shipping threshold. Additionally, you can indeed still get 3 BOGO discounts per transaction.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:22

If you cannot get it to work try closing your browser and clearing your cache.

Posted by vader34mt in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:23

well...as long as they don't cancel my order...i have a FB and GE on the way...

my girlfriend will be so excited! (i'm being serious...I'm mostly a star wars collector...but she recently got into the winter village sets and has REALLY had her eye on the modulars...i'm so lucky)

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:26

^-- Nice, I just wish that they had the Pet shop in stock.
Oh well, that will be out for a while so hopefully another BOGO will catch those in stock.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:27

This is a USA sale. I have no idea if it also works for Canada...

Posted by vader34mt in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:28

@madforlegos...that was my sentiment...the pet shop is going to be around for a while anyway...so the FB and GE are the way to go with this sale

even if the pet shop was in stock, i wouldve bought the other two and waited on the pet shop

Posted by neomonkey in United States, 19 Feb 2012 00:33

Thanks! I ordered Shuttle Expedition & Public Transport.

Posted by pitfall69 in United States, 19 Feb 2012 01:21

I picked up 2 Fire Brigades and 2 Grand Emporiums. I had to place 2 seperate orders. Would not let me put 2 Fire Brigades in the cart. It said I exceeded the amount allowed, so I had to place 1 Fire Brigade and then 1 Grand Emporium in my cart, finish the order then repeat the process. I don't know what was wrong...maybe I was doing something wrong.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 19 Feb 2012 01:47

^--- you were not. TRU typically does a limit on its more in demand sets.
Even if it says limit 2 (like a bunch of items do) TRU cart does not allow the two and defaults back to one per item for things like the mods.
I wish TRU would fix this in their system, but it has been like that for a while now.

Posted by brankell5566 in Canada, 19 Feb 2012 01:59

Fire Brigade now sold out, Grand Emporium still in stock.

Posted by thecleator in United States, 19 Feb 2012 02:03

Im surprised FB took two hours to go out

Posted by brankell5566 in Canada, 19 Feb 2012 02:10

Yeah me too.

Posted by pitfall69 in United States, 19 Feb 2012 02:12

Wow. I'm glad I bought it while I could. I'm sure it will be "retired" very soon and the emporium will be soon to follow. I love the modular building sets. I wish the Pet Store was still in stock.

Posted by brankell5566 in Canada, 19 Feb 2012 02:14

Don't worry, this is not their last BOGO sale. And the pet shop will still stick around for at lease 2 years. I read somewhere that the FB has stopped in productions, so get it while you can! I was a second too late and the FB was sold out on TRU, guess I will have to buy it on Amazon. Amazon still has 1,000+ copes of the FB.

Posted by vpustote in United States, 19 Feb 2012 02:26

Don't forget the President's day sale still going on at TRU. The only set of value is the Ninjago set at $34, but that's still a heck of a deal especially with half off another one.

Posted by Mr. Timms in United States, 19 Feb 2012 08:15

I'd be all over that Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape-- but it's not even in the TRU online inventory! Dang...

Posted by Alarcon42 in United States, 19 Feb 2012 08:35

Disappointing - all the modulars are now sold out. I've been waiting for a sale on those for a while.

Posted by brankell5566 in Canada, 19 Feb 2012 11:59

^read the first sentence of the article. ;)

Posted by SupaSteela17 in United States, 19 Feb 2012 12:11

What are construction sets according to TRU?

Posted by tdh-br in United States, 19 Feb 2012 12:21

If you're looking for "sold out" stuff (modulars, etc.), keeping checking all week. On previous similar sales, I've seen things come back to being available later.

Posted by nhuegel in United States, 19 Feb 2012 12:43

unless you are buying the more expensive sets like Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, etc....
the sale isnt that great on most lego sets as TRU is about 25% more expensive then Walmart anyways.
For example: City Dirt Bike Transporter (4433) @ TRU is $24.99. At Walmart the same set is $19.97.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 19 Feb 2012 13:45

^--- Yellowcastle touches on this above.
There are a certain number of sets that are better for the BOGO than others.
The unimog, even though it is 10 over retail is still a good deal as well as the excavator (not sure if either are available still)
Also the Maersk trains sold out right away because: for one you could put two into your cart, and two even at 10 over retail they are still not bad as a bogo.

Also the Technic 2n1 Log truck is BOGO( for retail prices I believe)
Unfortunately the smaller sets are way to expensive for BOGO, even when they were retail prices, BOGO online was not really great for smaller sets unless Free shipping was available, but usually free shipping only occurs at 75 bucks at cheapest (that I have seen) and you can usually only get one BOGO transaction per order (Although Yellowcastle also alluded to this not being limited to one per order this time?)

Posted by pitfall69 in United States, 19 Feb 2012 14:36

Most of my purchases come from Lego Shop, but I get points for purchases on my credit card that I redeem for TRU gift cards. I used $200 in gift cards and got $600 for $250. I was fortunate enough to grab 2 Fire Brigades and 2 Grand Emporiums before they sold out.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 19 Feb 2012 15:13

@pitfall69: What credit card does this?

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 19 Feb 2012 15:17

@Supasteel17: A constuction set is any boxed set not polybags or minifigures.

Posted by Clan Stonebraker in United States, 19 Feb 2012 17:46

Just went to Target then TRU comparing prices. I'm so annoyed with the price markup at TRU for instance if you were to get two Bat Caves at TRU it comes about $68 each at Target it's $70 every day. With a Target card you get 5 percent of that so about $67. Even with my TRU rewards card, it doesn't feel like savings if the sale only brings it down to the msrp...grrr.

Posted by bigw1974 in United States, 19 Feb 2012 19:11

@madforlegos - I don't know what credit card he is using to do this, but you can get all sorts of gift cards with AMEX Blue Cash. It's usually rated the best cash back card, no fees, 2 tiers (first is .5% cash back on some stuff, 1% on gas and groceries. Second tier, after $6500, is 1% and 5%, also unlimited cash back - no cap). They sometimes have deals on specific gift cards, like $90 for a $100 gift card. I only ever apply the cash back to a discount on my credit card bill. I've been using it for years, highly recommend it if you pay off every month (the interest rates are massive if you carry a balance).

Posted by pitfall69 in United States, 19 Feb 2012 22:25

I am using a BMW Platinum Visa Card. I can redeem the points for alot of different things including TRU gift cards. There is a $5O annual fee, but I don't need to carry a balance, everything I buy I get points...double points for gas. I Don't want to make this about credit cards. The only reason why I mentioned it was because the only time I buy from TRU is when I have gift cards and the BOGO is for sets that are not marked up.

Posted by GeluNumber1 in United States, 19 Feb 2012 22:38

I've now finished my collection of CM6, thanks to this BOGO. So glad!

Posted by Clan Stonebraker in United States, 19 Feb 2012 22:51

Well normally I will use my Alaska Airlines Signture Card because my family and I travel a lot and I accrued buku miles in my past life in a job not unlike the film "Up in the Air" (Happily no longer, now I write and make films).

The Target store credit card gives you an immediate 5 percent discount on Target purchases. Target occasionally has great sales and are a great place to troll for clearance Lego sets. I picked up a few Atlantis sets there at 50 percent off msrp. (Sets 8078, 7895, 8080) Probably all gone by now but if you happen to be in one check it out.

Walmart, I understand, have similar post holiday clearance sales, but the couple times I went there I felt I needed to shower after.

Overall I do love TRU for there selection and being the ultimate toy store growing up, I just can't justify the mark-up. It is worth buying the modular sets but I was unable to find any left at my local store though the website says they carry them. Probably sniped first thing in the morning.

Posted by AZFIREWOLF in United States, 19 Feb 2012 23:03

My local store had some great selections. Key word HAD. Got some great sets for parts for my BL store. Now time to sort.

Posted by Doomtrool in United Kingdom, 20 Feb 2012 10:40

If only Toys 'r' us did this in England...

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 20 Feb 2012 11:37

^ It does, or at least 3-for-2, twice a year, usually around Easter and October.

Posted by kwilder in United States, 20 Feb 2012 16:16

While the idea of a sale is tempting, I dislike TRU so much (both for their obscene mark-ups and for their general poor treatment of me when I have been a customer in the past) that I will not be buying. I will have to wait for a sale somewhere else, but I would rather pay more than reward a business I dislike. However, I hope those of you that have not had bad experiences are pleased with your purchases!

Posted by pitfall69 in United States, 20 Feb 2012 22:09

@kwilder We might be happy with our purchases, but we haven't received our items yet ;)

Posted by matrix8369 in United States, 21 Feb 2012 03:47

Thank you Sale. I was able to pick up some great savings. After every thing said and done I was able to order my purchases to save my self $275. And I did this in 4 orders to make sure I got my savings. There were a few sets I had to not get just because they were not available for shipping and I did not want to deal with that hassle. Sadly because of this I was not able to get a few technic sets I had my eyes on. But all in all because of this sale I was able to jump on some of the sets I have been wanting, as well as get me started in the technic line of lego. Now my next Issue, got to go to Ikea and get more display cases lol. I personally use this. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10011055/#/10119206

My Orders :)
LEGO City Cargo Train 7939: 1 @ $199.99:

6857 The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape is instock right now! I grabbed 2.

Posted by legodan15 in United States, 21 Feb 2012 14:23

I agree with Kwilder. i do not like a company that raises its prices so it can say that they have a sale..i will not shop there even if i have to spend more some where else...sorry TRU ...lost a customer...mini fig...3.99 rip off...

Posted by silvera4 in United States, 21 Feb 2012 22:08

ToysRUS shipping is fast. I already got 2 of my BOGO orders. I reside in CA. Boxes were from OH and they were shipped ground. Go Figure

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 22 Feb 2012 12:45

All of my orders processed and are showing as shipped, but the thing I hate is that I'm getting a ton of boxes all because TRU has to ship each item individually, the UPS guy is going to have a field day.
