    The Canadian Toys R Us website has the first six Space Police 3 sets available for pre-order. They claim they'll be shipping on the 1st June which is slightly earlier than I had expected. It's still unclear exactly which countries these will be available in, I believe that UK shops, for example, won't be getting them but they might still be available from LEGOshop.com in the UK -- we'll have to wait and see...

Finally some (kinda) High quality pics that aren't preliminary images with unofficial charters and pieces.
P.S. i am going to check for toys r us America space police sets every day and drive on over to the local toys r us the day it says it will ship. Also, if you click on the pictures it has cool box pictures under "product zoom"-even for the smaller sets!!!!!:D

Hmm...still mixed on this. After giving it some thought, I think my biggest problem with Space Police 3 is semantics. If they had called this new series anything other than Space Police 3, I probably would like it. Unfortunately, since they did call it that, I keep expecting some reference to the classic SP style, but instead it looks to me like a cross between hot rods and the latest AquaRaiders releases.

The minifigs do look cool, though. And the Galactic Enforcer is tempting, if Lego didn't already have a million Star Wars sets coming out this year demanding all my hard-earned money.

I don't know why you people are badmouthing SPIII. The design is original instead of derivative - so what? Instead of paying homage to the original SP in the building technique, they are instead paying homage to it in places like the statue of an old Space Policeman in galactic enforcer (which says in Latin "Thirty years of building in the infinite heavens", which is pretty darn poetic). If I had $223.00 plus tax I would run out there and buy all six, plus the impulses.

Well, now that I've calmed down a bit, lets comment on the photos themselves, and the blurbs.

I certainly hope that those names are just Canadian - Kranxx? Snake? Frenzy? If they are the real names in all locations, I will be sticking with the preliminary names, even if they are generic - For those three, Pilskin, Gasmask, and "THE CRAZY ALIEN!!!"

In this case, stickers are actually a plus - It would, of course, be nice if they were printed, but there is so much with designs on it that it would drive up the prices. And the sets certainly do look a lot, lot better with the stickers.

I still think that these are all great values for the price points. Some of them, I would even buy if they were the Canadian prices over here in the US. It's very refreshing after all the bloated liscenced theme prices (cough *SW* cough).

i still like the Space hot rod look, despite the opinions of AFOL's. As a TFOL, I can't remember the sets that these are being unfaithful to, so I don't really care.

In all, I can't decide which one (or ones) to buy first, and which ones to save my money with and ask for for Christmas or my birthday. Oh well. I have until June to decide. I'm very excited that TRU has moved up the release date.

Space Police 3 is pretty much a really bad theme compaired to Space Police 1 and 2, so don't buy them.

I think the white ships look nice, but certainly not worth the extortionate prices they'll be sold for on places like ebay, amazon and bricklink.

I never got the concept of realesing the newest sets in a country about 4000 miles away from where the pieces are made. The European Union should get the sets first. The Space Police sets though look quite nice.

Lol, AFOLs are funny sometimes... this is a new theme all it's own and it's the most original we've gotten in awhile... but it still has plenty of throwbacks. Heck, it has Blacktron graffiti, and a statue of a classic Space figure, and even classic airtanks! But the theme is still totally original.

Leastaways it doesn't seem that too many people are bad-mouthing this theme, so I'm not too worried. Personally I can't wait to grab them.

Perhaps SP should be released in the EU, because it was made there, but... If you look through most any American store, every single item (most likely) will be made in either China, Taiwan, or Japan. And I'm sure that most of those items could not be found in and Asian stores.

I haven't bad-mouthed the design of the theme, but rather the name of it. It would seem aimed at AFOLs, since they would be the ones who had the original SP lines. But since this is a new theme and style, I think it reinforces my argument that Lego should have just named the new series something other than Space Police, since it doesn't resemble the original lines in any way. That 18000pieces said they can't even remember the SP1 or SP2 sets further hammers that home; fans of the classic SP sets won't recognize these, and younger Lego fans won't know what they're referring to.

I did mention that I liked the minifigs (a lot) and a couple of the set designs are nice, I just don't like the Space Police 3 name being used for it. Perhaps Agents in Space would have made more sense, since that seems like a closer match. I also don't care for the minifig names. It would have been cooler if Lego kept the Escape from New York reference that 18000pieces mentioned (Pliskin), and maybe throw in some more. I also think the bad guys are under-represented, and need more and bigger sets, in addition to the Container Heist.

The bad guys in the old SP lines were the Blacktron. Once again, I wasn't criticizing Lego for any of the set or minifig designs. All in all, my problem is with the lame names that Lego chose for the theme, the sets, and the minifigs, not the sets themselves.

As a side note, 18000pieces is unfortunately correct, most US Lego sets are now made in China, just like everything else in this country.

That still sounds incredibly weak. If you were to find the least important factor of a new theme, it would probably be the name. It may not be anything like the old theme, but the idea is clearly inspired from it, and it DOES fit the new theme perfectly; they are, after all, police in space.

The name doesn't matter. The SETS to, and all of the sets look incredibly solid, with at least a few great ones. It's great to see Space reaching it's old quality standards. Not one set there looks sloppily designed or thrown together... everything seems thought out and well realized. And THAT is what matters. Not the name.

@iabstract - Actually, all LEGO components are actually still fabricated in Europe. The point that I was trying to make is that, in today's world, very few things are sold mainly where they are manufactured - e.g., SPIII made in Europe, sold in NA, everything else made in China, sold other places.

Aditionally, just because I can't remember the SPI and SPII, doesn't mean I don't know what they look like. I've studied up for the release of these, looking at pictures on Lugnet and my Dad's old sets. Certainly, the design of SPIII is different, but that must be expected - LEGO has created new elements, new building techniques, and new standards of what a set should be. Sure, these standards may not be what we want them to be, but they will change in the future as well. You say that you would like these sets if they were named something else. well, if you have police in space, you're going to call them Space Police. So LEGO had an option - wipe away the history of SPI and SPII, or make these sets a continuation of it. And I think that we would all rather have them at least acknowledge the old sets than simply write them off as things of the past and create a new Space Police universe.

You're right, I was mistaken. I saw the "manufactured in China" on the boxes lately and assumed that's where they were fabricated, but after looking it up, most of the elements are still made in their Denmark HQ.

I don't understand the need to argue. I never criticized anyone else's opinion, just stated my own. I thought that's what these message threads were for, our quick comments and opinions on the sets (since it clearly states below this is not a discussion forum). For me, the name Space Police carries with it an expectation that is not fulfilled by the set or minifig designs. No, modular design (common to Legos in general, not any specific theme), a sticker paying homage to the original line, or police in space is not sufficient reference to me to be the same theme as the old Space Police; nothing in the actual design of the sets or minifig carries that idea through to me, and that's where the reference should be.

I know a design change is expected. SP1 and 2 were obviously different designs from one another, but similar enough to make the connection. This is a significant departure. I never said anywhere I disliked the designs of the minifigs or sets; in fact, I said I liked some of them a lot. I also never said any of this would prevent me from getting any of the sets. I was simply pointing out a quibble I had with them, just like anyone else on this message board criticizing an aspect of a set they find disagreeable. I don't care for the name Space Police 3 and think Lego could have easily come up with another. I think the set and minifig names are silly. None of that bothers you and that's fine. I've no doubt you would dislike aspects sets that I'm fond of, for reasons that I may perceive as unreasonable. Obviously there is no absolute when it comes to taste or expectations. And my opinion is not set in stone; I reserve the right to change it. For the time being, please forgive me for choosing to disagree with some.

Directing a comment at me on a message board where there is already a small debate and referencing to your opinion as an "argument" in a previous post are all things that incite debates on the internet. Doing these things and then acting surprised when I reply to your post in a somewhat aggressive fashion is rather... strange.

I don't for a moment believe that the new Space Police are at all similar to the old Space Police- I have a sizable collection of SP2 myself- but I don't really care because LEGO does this all the time. Mars Mission looked nothing like Life on Mars. Aqua Raiders looked nothing like Aqua Zone. Power Miners looked nothing like Rock Raiders. That's just what LEGO does these days and I fail to see how these are legitimate grounds for complaint...

Anyway, if you're not looking for someone to reply to your post, then don't direct comments at people.

I like the way the series pays homage to the old space police sets. I just wish they would use the old planet logo of the classic space and futron series again, especially with it the 30th anniversiary of classic space and all...

I don't want any of these sets at all, mostly becuase it doesn't appeal to me( not critizing anything). I also want to get ahold of some star wars sets for ackbar and cruiser and city ones for more buildings and etc. and with prices on the rise, who knows now much the sets are going to cost?

YES!! I have been waiting forever to see some pics of them. they look so cool. Lots of nice pieces. Also the aliens are like nothing I have ever seen before. Also in the new March-April lego mag they said:
"Strange being have been sighted around the LEGO offices! Check out www.LEGOclub.com the week of April 20th for a special announcement!"
So I am not sure but it sounds like space police. Also I love how the space ships look like trucks with the wheels taken off, and wings added. It looks awesome!
