List your LEGO products at Brickset

The more astute amongst you may have noticed that the 'Buy' tab on the set detail pages was renamed "For sale" last week, and also now provides an indication of the number of vendors that have a particular set for sale.

As well as shop.LEGO.com, Amazon and Argos (in the UK) that have been there for some time, you will now see sets listed that The Plastic Brick has for sale.

The Plastic Brick is an unofficial LEGO dealer based in the USA who stocks a wide range of  LEGO sets. Currently they only ship to the USA so you'll only see their sets listed if you're browsing from that part of the world.

I'm hoping that The Plastic Brick will be the first of many online shops that will make use of this feature, so if you run your own online store and would like to see your products listed here, please get in touch. With our global audience of over 300,000 LEGO fans, doing so can only raise the profile of your shop and increase your sales.

Wow, this sounds really awesome!

And 300K people globally? Nice!

And would there be any costs to be listed as a potential seller?

Yes there would be a small charge. I am still thinking about what that might be but I suspect there will be two options: a monthly subscription of some small amount (€5-10) or pay per click.

I can geotarget the display of the items so if, for example, in your case you only want your sets shown to people in Holland I can do that, which thus would limit the number of unwanted click-throughs.

Can you integrate with BrickLink stores? I can think of several (including myself if I get a decent stock level) who would be interested.

Wow. What an awesome idea!
Brickset is a LEGO Website, but Huw and the rest deserve income for the amount of time and effort they put into the site. Don't you all agree?

And this way, other sellers can advertize and sell LEGO from Brickset and they're happy,
And we (the Consumers) are happy because we can buy LEGO off of our fav LEGO Site - BRICKSET.

LONG LIVE BRICKSET

This is a really neat idea. The Plastic Brick store looks really good too. It would be great to have a lot of reasonably priced options for older sets.

@LegoCoastGuard, BrickLink does offer a means to list your store's inventory for use at Peeron and I could probably use that. However the BrickLink community as a whole does not like Brickset or me so I have no plans to ask whether it's acceptable for Brickset to use the same mechanism.

If somebody else wants the champion the cause, though, then I'd be happy for them to.

Hi Huw:
I've been trying to get in contact with you for some time. I wanted to know if you have other options to advertise. I have a Lego related site but it is custom sets and instructions. I noticed you used to have other advertisers on here at one point in the past. Where can "Friends of Brickset" post a paid ad? Cheers!

^ I may well do. I thought I replied to you: sorry if I didn't. Do get in touch again.

^^^ Bricklink does like Brickset?! Perhaps I missed this one. Why in the world would BL not like Brickset? It's their loss, if you ask me... And I've been selling there for a bit.

Unfortunately BrickLink deletes its forum messages after 6 months so you can't go back and read the bun-fight that ensued when I asked in their forum whether I could use their inventories here, of course to improve Brickset but also to drive traffic there. The vocal minority did not seem to grasp the benefits for everyone of doing so.

Bummer. You are free to use my inventory all you want (as small as it is) I don't mind the added traffic! It would help me grow my inventory... Sometimes the BL folks can be very...unique and particular ;)
