Sabreman64 pointed me at a PDF version of a Dorling Kindersley catalogue that has revealed several LEGO book releases I was not aware of (plus a few that I was):

    • Ninjago Character Encylopedia
    • Batman Ultimate Sticker Collection
    • Batman: the Visual Dictionary
    • The LEGO book (revised version of the 2009 edition)
    • Friends Brickmaster
    • Ninjago Fight the Power of the Snakes Brickmaster
    • Ninjago Ultimate Sticker Collection
    • Minifigures Series 1-7 Ultimate Sticker Collection

Plus of course Harry Potter: Characters of the Magical World, which features several hundred of my photos and which I believe will be one of the first to be published (June according to Amazon). You can pre order it here: Amazon.co.uk | Amazon.com.

Here are details of some of the more interesting titles:

New DK books for Autumn 2012 New DK books for Autumn 2012 New DK books for Autumn 2012 New DK books for Autumn 2012 New DK books for Autumn 2012

Not only is 2012 shaping up to be an expensive year for actual LEGO sets, it looks as if we'll need to fork out a fair amount for these high-quality books as well!

Hurrah for DK books! I want them all! All of the Character Encyclopedias come with figs it seems. Interesting that the Batman book also includes the rest of the DC stuff - I wonder why they didn't just do a Superheroes one? Licensing? I'd love it if the free fig with it was Green Lantern but I'm sure it will just be another version of Batman.
I'm glad there's going to be an updated LEGO book - I've been debating whether to get the current one for ages, now I won't bother and will just wait for the shiny new one :)

Yes! I'm glad they're updating The LEGO Book. That means it'll have DC Universe Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes, The Lord of the Rings, Friends, Dino, and finally things like Ninjago!

One reason to buy the first edition, however, is that there's no mention of the 'Standing Small' minifig book coming with this new edition.

Depending on what the minifig is with the batman book will sway it as a 'must buy' for me. Ninjago also come with an exclusive fig for those into that. CMF sticker book could be nice as well.

The Batman visual dictionary and the revised Lego book are the must buy for me. I probably will have the new superheroes, Lord of the Rings,Pirates of the Caribean andDino themes in it.

Excellent. I love these DK books and will definitely buy the revised "Lego" book. Loved, the last one, one of the best...especially with the cool extra book "Standing Small". Will probably also buy the Ninjago character encyclopedia for my son, Friends Brickmaster set for my daughter....could a revised Star Wars Visual Encyclopedia be in the works next year?

Posted by meyerc13 in United States, 09 Mar 2012 15:50

A Ninjago Character Encyclopedia? It doesn't seem like there would be enough characters to fill one: "Here's Kai... here's another Kai... here's yet another Kai..."

^I chuckled at your comment

Anyway, the revised LEGO Book sounds pretty cool to me. This time I want a larger emphasis on LEGO Spiderman! :)

I wonder what "updates" that TLG will have to the LEGOn Book? I have the first edition and will be getting this one as well.

@Mr. Football: I believe a second edition Star Wars dictionary has already been published. It includes 2010 sets, a slightly changed layout, and a (very slightly) tweaked Luke minifig.

just saw "star wars character encyclopedia with lego han solo minifigure" for $11ish at Sam's Club

Posted by bradbean in United Kingdom, 10 Mar 2012 03:46

anyone (apart from me) think the mini fig in the batman book will be clayface??
Anyway, they look great, but i'm not sure if 4 years of lego will sway me to buy the lego book again

Will the minifigures in the visual dictionary books be made of chinese plastic?

Posted by LukeSkywalker in Ireland, 10 Mar 2012 16:11

@thebearcollector it's not just you, must be down for maintenance reasons or something.

^ As much as I HATE to go off-topic, Huw mentioned here http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=2675 that he had removed that list.

I feel ripped off that I got the 2009 version of the Lego book.

Wow, a second Lego Brickmaster book. I really liked the first one too.
