Me and my homies...

I was asked to fill some spaces on Saturday at short notice so I invited the Brickset posse. There's nothing newsworthy in this article but I thought I'd post this photo of us outside the LEGOLAND Hotel on the home page just to wind them up :-)

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 12 Mar 2012 13:15

^^^ A bit like Take-That!, I imagine

Posted by LostInTranslation in United Kingdom, 12 Mar 2012 13:23

^ They don't have one either! Or a hyphen!!

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 12 Mar 2012 13:24

^ No, not that bunch! The phrase typically seen in comic books does and I guess that's what he modelled his screen name on.

@dixondog, I'm the one with jeans on.

Arghh, so THAT's what you all look like!
Friendly looking bunch. :o)
Not what I imagined.

Nice to meet you!

But homies huh? Looks more like a posse... maybe a gaggle? A clan? A troop? A wall of bricksters? ;oP

TT - honestly Lucy?

Posted by LostInTranslation in United Kingdom, 12 Mar 2012 13:50

^ No not really. I was in the Boyzone fan club though - still got my membership card somewhere, for nostalgia purposes :-)

I always wondered what you guys and gals (or, rather, gal) looked like...

Not really, but have fun at LEGOLAND, and thanks for setting up this wonderful website!

Nice to put faces to names, I know I've met a few of you, but thats nearly the whole posse (I think posse suits) Looked like a fun day :)

Great to see what you all look like, as I might actualy bump into some of you sometime. I've only seen two AFOLs in the flesh so to speak, but never spoke to one. One in his mid 40's, buying about 20 of last years Clone Battle pack in my local Tesco, and the other in a TRU, in his seventey's buying 2 Home Ones and 6 V-19's, with one Hillside house and 10 CMFs. Thats one old AFOL or one very lucky Grankid!

^^ Hehe, that made me laugh!
Now we've met you all in flesh, maybe we could build you in the brick? :P
I've seen pictures of both Huw and Bluemoose here: http://www.brickset.com/about/us/

It will be a long time until we get over this. Thanks for the laugh guys :D

@TheCashleySlash, The Sun had a competion to design a minifig for the lobby.
Heres the description (wrote on 11/.2/12):

The new building features a wall of 5,000 minifigures behind the reception desk in the colourful lobby.
It's just the start of the fun in the multi-million pound attraction, opening on March 17. More than 80 million Lego bricks have been used to create 1,600 models featured in the hotel. Rooms will have one of three themes. Pirates will be able to sleep in a treasure-filled hideaway, the Kingdom room is a royal haven for all aspiring knights and princesses and the Adventure rooms are perfect for every wannabe explorer.

A team of 45 Lego model makers are building the fun now, making everything from life-size parrots and monkeys to spiders and scorpions. The hotel will feature a ultra family-friendly restaurant and Lego pirate-themed splash pool complex with plenty of fun for little ones.

I hope somebody will find this usefull.

I was lucky enough to be one of the first invited guests to stay in the hotel last Friday night. Best take this discussion to the forum though...

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 13 Mar 2012 16:26

@legoDad42, the cops have a picture to put on the wanted posters now! I can just see the headline, "Wanted in 15 states.."

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 14 Mar 2012 21:31

The gangs all here! :P

Now I know who to look out for, if I ever go to any LEGO events in Britain....

Posted by Orthobotrex in Philippines, 16 Mar 2012 17:56

HA HA! Now I can show other people here at home other AFOLs who are just like me!

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 16 Mar 2012 23:44

Wow almost everyone in the picture looks like a skin head. (it seems most AFOLs are bald)
