Christoph Bartneck, author of the Unofficial LEGO Minifigure Catalog, is organising a LEGO show in Christchurch, New Zealand:

The LEGO Annual Brick Show (LABS2012): REBUILD

The LEGO Annual Brick Show (LABS2012) will take place on July 14-15 in Christchurch. The event is sponsored by the University of Canterbury and it will take place at the Jack Mann Auditorium at 53 Solway Ave, Christchurch.

The show will exhibit amazing LEGO models for all age groups. Enthusiasts and collectors will show their designs, collections and contraptions. The theme for this year is: REBUILD. The exhibitors will include their visions of the future for Christchurch. Children will also have the opportunity to go hands on with dedicated LEGO activities. Extensive parking places are available right in front of the buliding and the show is easily accessible from there.

Find out more, and apply to exhibit, at the LUG4x2 website

Yeah, c'mon Kiwis! Post some comments, we rarely get any news on the frontpage, show your Lego Love!! I'm up in Auckland so can't make the show, but awesome theme for the show after a tough couple of years for Cantabrians.

Going to try and get down to Chch for this from Tauranga - also a chance to catch up with relatives.

I'll see if I can get the folks at Toyco in St Lukes Auckland to put some flyers up to advertise this event. (although I'm less than impressed by their recent pricing policy on larger models). The guys at Toyworld in Auckland's Sylvia park are advertising a competition of winning a trip to legoland,... They should be advertising a trip to this event. All Kiwi Lego folks should be hitting up their local toystores to encourage this kind of invent in NZ. Given the prices we pay for Lego in NZ as well as the wait it takes for models to get here, perhaps some exposure will do some good. (still on the bright side, lego is still far cheaper here than it is in Australia).

Please note that it is the LUG 4/2 that is organizing the event. I am only helping getting it started.

We are still looking for exhibitors, so please let us know if you could showcase your great models.

@namekuji: we will produce some flyers soon. Could you email me your address so that I can send them your way?

Glad that this got on the front page! Shot Christoph :) Really looking forward to this! Be great to meet some bricksetters there. Already started my MOC's for the show ;) hehe..
Be great to see LUG4/2 grow too, so if you're keen to be part of a South Island LUG, we'd love to hear from you.

@ bartneck: Probably best to contact Toyco directly. They perhaps have the best variety of Lego in stock in Auckland (and possibly the country) and get an enormous amount of Lego traffic going through their store that seek out rare and good models (as well as their frequent sales). They have at times had their own ( albeit small instore scale lego) competitions and would be the folks to get hold of to advertise this event from Auckland. Their contact info is http://www.toyco.co.nz/contactus (their website is unfortunately rarely kept up to date so best give them a call)

Toyworld at Sylvia Park get a similar amount of Lego traffic too (but are a bit more expensive) so just give them a buzz.

I visit them once a week, every Saturday morning so next week when I go in I'll see what they have to say about this.

Great to see a LEGO only event being organised. I will be doing a LEGO layout at Taupo on July 7/8. As we will still be on leave on 14/15 we will try to get down to see it.

^Nice one Allan. Its so refreshing to see a Lego collection and set up that doesn't involve star wars.
