Star Wars Promotion 3-4th May

  • Star Wars Promotion 3-4th May

Posted by Huw, 30 Apr 2009 16:54. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).

There is now a page on lego.com that says to come back at 12:01 on May 3rd for more information, but it would seem that the promotion will involve a poster of every SW minifig made which you are presumably sent when you place an order over a certain amount.

I think you can only view the page if your country is set to USA (and probably Canada) so I reckon us Europeans will be out of luck :-(

(Thanks to ljr7225 for the heads-up and WedgeAntilles for additional info)

It's a poster. I got an email from LEGO about it, and there's a picture of a poster (supposed to be all of or at least most of this promotion) and there's a picture of a poster with most/all of the SW minifigs ever produced.

Posted by Mr.Wampa in United States, 30 Apr 2009 17:40

That stinks. I wanted a minifig or something.

Posted by Batmaniam in Canada, 30 Apr 2009 17:51

I think that it probably is all of the star wars minifigures every made, because under the picture of R2-D2, it say: "Did You Know? More than 250 variations of over 150 Star Wars characters have been produced in minifigure form since 1999." That would be cool if it was that.

Posted by MisterFubar in United States, 30 Apr 2009 19:27

I just got the email as well. I'd be all about a poster, frame it up and put it on the wall of lego. The wife will love it. heh

Posted by I like Lego in Canada, 30 Apr 2009 20:54

Of every star wars minifig ever produced, won't that be kind of big? Or maybe they are small pictures.

Posted by MinifigHQ in Australia, 30 Apr 2009 21:25

Have heard that the poster will be included with the next issue of the Lego Club magazine for Aussies....

Posted by Atbin7856 in United States, 30 Apr 2009 23:15

The mini figures are amazing!

Posted by damien in Netherlands, 01 May 2009 00:10

I hoped it would be a sale or a free set, but I got my hopes too high. But, a poster would be interesting. I wonder if it would come with a checklist?

Posted by FiletOFish67 in United States, 01 May 2009 09:14

I saw the picture of the poster on the website but didn't think that would be the secret? I agree with you guys--a poster is SO anticlimatic! I thought they were going to celebrate 10 years by giving us a secret minifigure or introduce a secret set. I guess I had my hopes too high. But, when you think about all the money Lego has gotten from avid fans like us, how can you not expect something big? This is a let down, no doubt.

I'm sick of people saying "It's always only the USA", other countries get exclusive little sets with newspapers, the USA gets a lame poster.

It was supposed to be something really cool, a poster isn't cool.

Posted by kevin30 in United States, 01 May 2009 10:22

Ya I just saw it. The poster looks really neat but I wonder how much you have to spend? Probably too much. You might be able to find one on ebay though, after they come out.

It's better than a keychain, in my opinion at least....

Posted by The Green Brick Giant in United States, 01 May 2009 11:59

A keychain is at least a minifigure. A poster is a piece of paper that will be smashed to bits when it comes in the mail.

Posted by cvillone in United States, 01 May 2009 12:15

Where exactly is a picture of the poster, I can't find it? Thx!

Posted by Scottieuk in United Kingdom, 01 May 2009 12:16

I have to say, considering Lego is a european company, we do get the short end of the stick. UK hasn't had any exclusives as far as I know which hasn't then been available on the Lego website, and we pay often double the US price.

I'm sick of people in the US saying they're sick of people not in the US moaning about stuff.
Start paying double for your sets first.

Posted by c.lee.r in United States, 01 May 2009 12:38

i have several lego posters. this is getting me upset. lego is really getting cheap. they love to raise the prices. should be glad it is something. still disapointing.

Posted by The Green Brick Giant in United States, 01 May 2009 13:28

Not my fault LEGO get's screwed over by taxes in the USA. It's called capitalism, the USA has more competition, and less taxes, so the prices need to be lowered. Plus this year LEGO fixed the pricing on some sets. Europe got a series of exclusive sets through a newspaper or something, that was talked about late last year. Also you have all the same sets online, and more LEGO related products that some of them are neat that are never made for the USA. Plus European airlines have AWESOME plane sets that you can't even buy on a plane in the USA. Buy a plane ticket, buy the European Exclusive airplane sets and fly over to North America to get your sets cheaper.

The big pirate ship is actually cheaper in the UK, Jungle Duel is still being sold in the UK, when it hasn't at any USA store in several months. A lot of the bigger sets are about the same prices now, or cheaper, the Farm is $17 cheaper, the Pirate ship is $25 cheaper.

Posted by Miser22 in United States, 01 May 2009 17:07

I'll take a poster any day.

Posted by mvila09 in United States, 01 May 2009 17:07

I wonder how it looks like...I want a poster can't wait!

Posted by Danson Delta-40 in United States, 01 May 2009 17:24

You people don't even know if it is the poster!!! Listen people have been saying that they got it in email or whatever but that does on no accounts mean that this offer is a poster. Even if it is the poster maybe it will come with a randomly selected figure on that poster. Besides you don't know how much you have to spend to get that poster. For all we know it might be free. Am I making sense to anyone out there?

P.S. totally off topic but how do you pronounce your name Huw?

Posted by BionicleBOOM in United States, 01 May 2009 18:31

I think it's kinda like 'who,' but with an accent, kinda.

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 01 May 2009 19:15

The "poster" that people are referring to is black with Lego Star Wars on the top left corner. "May the force be with you!" written on top. An array of Star Wars minifigures, possibly to scale, are shown on the poster 11 column x 15 rows. The bottom right corner has the 10 year anniversary Darth Vader occupying 2 columns x 2 rows. Looks pretty neat in my opinion.

Posted by iabstract in United States, 01 May 2009 20:07

Here's what was in my email:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/iabstract/3492066637/

The email does say it will be a "special announcement", not really indicating whether it will be an item, sale, etc. That said, it looks like it will be a poster. The image file from the email has "poster" in the name.

Posted by Yoda 56 in United States, 01 May 2009 23:11

I got the legoshop newsletter yesterday and it showed a picture of a poster! I just can't wait to place an order!

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 02 May 2009 02:45

> P.S. totally off topic but how do you pronounce your name Huw?

Like Hugh as in actor Hugh Grant. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_Grant)

My name is the Welsh spelling.

Posted by ian in Netherlands, 02 May 2009 02:48

Posted by BioFreak877 in United States, 02 May 2009 08:27

You guys know it's on May 4 because you can say "May the fourth be with you".

Posted by I like Lego in Canada, 02 May 2009 10:05

Posted by rulerofdoom in United States, 02 May 2009 17:46

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 02 May 2009 19:20

Posted by Mr.Wampa in United States, 02 May 2009 20:23

rulerofdoom, same for me.

Posted by Danson Delta-40 in United States, 02 May 2009 21:15

Posted by chrisdog121411 in United States, 02 May 2009 21:32

if he tells he will ruin the surprise. and by the way can some one tell me what the email says? and is this at the lego store to?

Posted by arctrooper170 in United States, 02 May 2009 22:03

maybe its a poster and something special, because thats kinda lame and they are charging pretty high prices for the anniversary sets so maybe ita an exlusive, and if not oh well, will look forward for the summer clone wars and the brickmaster sets AT-TE and Gunship (mini)

Posted by ogel646 in United States, 02 May 2009 23:25

Just a few more minutes to go and we'll find out what's the limited time offer :)

Posted by faster345 in United States, 02 May 2009 23:31

And I hope it's a free poster with any Star Wars purchase. That would be brilliant. Cheers!

Posted by abenamou in United States, 02 May 2009 23:46

Looks like it's 25% off the USC Falcon (for $375) with an entry to win the Collectors Edition numbers 5,6,7 (in addition to the poster).

Posted by theseasentinel in Australia, 03 May 2009 00:17

abenamou is correct. It is in fact 25% of the UCS Falcon "for a limited time only"
To be more precise:
"Place an order through LEGOshop.com on May 3rd or May 4th and you will receive an exclusive LEGO® Star Wars™ poster, each individually numbered up to 15,000, celebrating the LEGO Star Wars 10th Anniversary and featuring over 160 minifigures that have appeared in a LEGO Star Wars set in the last 10 years. You will also automatically be entered to win a first-edition LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Falcon™ - number 5, 6 or 7.*!"
As I live in the Great Southern Land this isn't available to us, that said I'm lucky enough to work with US Navy exchange sailors who allow me to order Lego in the States to them here in Oz.... 1st poster is on it's way:-)
Might place another order tomorrow....

Posted by iabstract in United States, 03 May 2009 01:16

Looks like it's not limited to Star Wars theme sets or a set spending limit, either. You can purchase any set.

Posted by JELJ1s in United States, 03 May 2009 03:08

I just made 4 purchases and will be getting 4 posters! I'm pretty excited. The chance to win the millenium falcon is just a bonus. I already have one with a certificate and everything. To get # 5, 6, or 7 would be awesome!! Fingers crossed!!

Posted by clone commander trainrex in United States, 03 May 2009 05:58

@Milkdud35
I looked online and I think it says only one poster per order.

Posted by chrisdog121411 in United States, 03 May 2009 09:17

Looks like they have minifigs that come out this summer sweet.

Posted by iabstract in United States, 03 May 2009 11:25

@ clone commander trainrex:
he probably did 4 separate orders.

Posted by JELJ1s in United States, 04 May 2009 16:51

1 poster per order...i made 4 seperate orders.
