The ever resourceful grogall has found hi-res images of most of this summer's Lord of the Rings sets, and he's posted them over on Eurobricks; check them out at the link here

They look great to me, and these are the best images to date of these sets, which are going to be hugely popular.

That brick-like pillar in 9472: is that a new piece? Those stairs are great.

The ring in the set 9472 looks like it can be worn as a bracelet if you take of the minifigure hand. I can't wait for these new sets!

I literally started salivating.

@ BJMdotLEGO No, the pillar is actually part of the spiral staircase. Hope that helps.

Wow, I am so excited for these. The minifigures are very detailed without not looking like LEGO. Anyone agree?

Awesome! I always love high-res images. I noticed that they've altered the colors to give them the right mood.

Oh, Huw, are you going to add the alternate images to the sets?

Off-topic, but still LEGO-related: I went to the new LEGO Store in Nashville when it opened this morning, and it was awesome! I will be going back for the grand-opening.

Awesome! When do you think the Ninjago images will show up? Hopefully soon

These are going to sell like hotcakes.

Gotta say I love the fact that you won't need to buy the biggest, most expensive set to get a full set of the Fellowship minifigures.

I especially love that fact because the Helms Deep set along with the Orc Forge set are the only ones I have no real interest in.

I must say, these sets turned out great. The minifigures look really nice while still maintaining that Lego feel. Also nice to see new horses and weapons. My only gripe is the number of stickers, especially in The Mines of Moria set. Oh well, i guess I wont be applying them then.

I hope Huw gets around to uploading more minifigure galleries, especially from this theme!

I don't think I've ever been so excited about a new theme as I am with this one. It's always been top of my wish list for theme ideas. The figures look amazing and for this I'm abandoning my policy of only having the figures and will keep the whole set. I just hope they stick with it for a good few years and make all of the characters because there are so many more other than the ones in this first wave.

This theme should ve been on the market for ten years! Imagine the number of LotR sets we would have by now!

I forgot to add the only negative I feel is the Gollum figure looks rubbish!!!! I'm sure they could have made that so much better.

Anyone else think that helms deep is a bit disapointing? It is a little smalll and costs the same as hogwarts. But besides that I am excited.

Super excited, but also hoping for a future Council of Elrond set, or at least something set in Rivendel. Those would be some awesome brick elements.

Also, I like that Helm's Deep is expandable. So you can still get a fun play-castle kind of set, but hardcore builders can make a larger set. (Probably have enough gray bricks myself to really expand that wall, without buying extra Uruk-hai.) The price point is a little steep, but that's no surprise. :p I'd pay more for a tiny Theoden.

I really like these sets, but what I really want to see is something along the lines of an ultimate collectors edition. Something like a statue or bust of some of the characters, or maybe even a very detailed an large scale building from the series.

I am a huge LOTR fan and will most likely be buying at least 2 or 3 of these sets, but over all I really like the large scale stuff.

fingers crossed....

Aha, found that spiral staircase thingamajig: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=40243&in=S . Never seen this before.

Not digging it so much...LEGO just seems to be looking less and less "like" LEGO.

Posted by brix in United Kingdom, 31 Mar 2012 03:30

^ I agree. In a way it's good because they look more realistic but I do think it's also kind of a shame. Plus these sets are very overpriced :( Will probably only get shelob attacks

I really want the Mines Of Moria!
