All the Marvel figs

Marvel figsLike the DC sets, the Marvel ones also come with a comic inside. Here's a scan of the page showing all the Marvel minifigs, including those in the Spider-Man set. I think I'm right in saying that we don't know what that looks like yet, do we?

Pardon my ignorance, who's the green guy in the middle?

I think his name is Electro or Electrum maybe?

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 06 Apr 2012 11:58

He's Iron Fist, not a particularly well known Marvel superhero -

Wondering when the Spiderman set will be realesed.

Posted by goldfish in United Kingdom, 06 Apr 2012 12:05

That Dr Octopus is a real acquired taste. Not sure it's as good as the two earlier incarnations...

The Spider-Man set is based on the new animated TV series. They look great. I remember my first LEGO set was a Spider-Man one. I have fond memories, so I'm sure to pick that one up. Anyways, all the other figures look AWESOME! Wolverine looks accurate, and I'm glad to see the old Joker/Dracula hair in use again. Magneto is nice as well, I believe his helmet is a new piece. Deadpool is cool too, his weapons look great. Plus he's accurate to the comics. Spider-Man, Iron Fist, and Doc Ock look great. Hulk is probably the largest figure ever, unless you count the troll-things from Kingdoms. Loki looks a little iffy, I don't really like him aside from the head piece. They just reused the Lex Luthor head. Cap looks patriotic and awesome! Iron Man looks nice as well. I like the extra pieces that create the effect of flying. The henchmen look detailed and nice. Black Widow looks good as well, it's unfortunate she is only in one set. Hawkeye's new compound bow looks good, so does his figure. Thor looks AWESOME, and his hammer does too. I'm looking forward to picking up the sets.

I kind of hope that heroes wearing masks (Spider-man, Captain America, Iron Fist, Deadpool) are done a little better with future releases.. the nub on the top of their head just bothers me (kind of like Darth Maul's nub used to bother me until they fixed it with the lastest release). It would be nice to have a regular MF face (eg. Peter Parker's face) and have a head piece (eg. Spidey's mask) to go on top. It would look more complete IMO. I can't think of any situation where I would want to place a head piece on top of Spider-man's mask (that would look ridiculous). Maybe a small dome piece to place on top to get rid of the nub.. I'm sorry.. but the nub really bothers me.. I've never had a Lego set where a MF had an exposed nub (aside from some SW sets).. it makes them look a little naked. Just my opinion. Let me know what you think.

What are the weird robot guys?

Posted by pstrickler27 in United States, 06 Apr 2012 12:21

^ From the new Avengers movie.. they look pretty lame IMO

Posted by jarolo145 in United States, 06 Apr 2012 12:22

his name is Iron Fist

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 06 Apr 2012 12:24

@ pstrickler27; I agree with the head stud thing. In the film, Capt. America wears a blue war helmet so was disappointed LEGO didn't go with this look.

The only new part of this are the Spiderman figures. I'm pleasantly surprised to see it being Ultimate Spiderman. I know a little about this version of Spiderman and what I've seen I've enjoyed. Some of the characters are designed differently in Ultimate Spiderman, so some of the figs may not be the 'classic' designs we're used to (see Doc. Oct, for example).

I, too, thought the middle char is Electro, as he also wears yellow and green.
@bluemoose; Do you have any proof that it's Iron Fist? At the moment it seems it could be either one of the two.

Posted by Zacherano in United States, 06 Apr 2012 12:25

The Spider Man figures look awesome! I do like the Iron Fist figure, although his character is not especially common in many Spider Man comics.

Posted by pstrickler27 in United States, 06 Apr 2012 12:29

@BrickBob09..

Check out these links:

Iron Fist http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Fist_(comics)

Electro http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electro_(Marvel_Comics)

The black design on Iron Fist's outfit is the dead giveaway... it is for sure Iron Fist.

@BrickBob09: Proof of the minifig being Iron Fist

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Fist_%28comics%29 - note the symbol on the character is the same

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_Spider-Man_%28TV_series%29 - Iron Fist is featured as a member of Spider-man's team in the Ultimate cartoon series

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.comicsalliance.com/media/2012/02/ironfistultimatespidermanbig.jpg - character model of Iron Fist in the Ultimate series; matches perfectly

This info is also good for anyone else interested in Iron Fist and/or the Ultimate Spider-man series who doesn't know too much about it yet. I know I didn't until I started reading about it when I first saw the images of these figs. I really was hoping it would be the green and yellow Doc Ock from the 90's cartoon though. Oh well...

The new Spider-man looks pretty decent, but the new Doctor Octopus looks ugly (why didn't Lego make it look how he does in Spiderman2?) and who the heck is the guy in the middle?

Posted by pstrickler27 in United States, 06 Apr 2012 12:52

^ It's too funny when folks don't read the comment directly above their own. ;)

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 06 Apr 2012 12:54

Thanks pstrickler27 and ytjedi.
The version of him Huw posted is a little small and I couldn't quite make out his symbol. Both Iron Fist and Electro have the same colour scheme and I have seen versions of Electro (somewhere, not sure where) in a more basic costume (no lighting mask, etc).

Thanks for the help guys :)

EDIT: ^ Totally agree :D

@The Reviewer; The answer to the mysterious middle man is above your own comment ;)
Doc. Oct. is different as he's not based on the Spiderman 2 or classic version of him. He's from the Ultimate Spiderman series, apparently for which a new TV series has just emerged.
Ultimate Spiderman (as far as I can recall) shows the characters differently to the classic versions. This is why Doc. Oct is different.

Posted by TooMuchLEGO in United States, 06 Apr 2012 13:13

Am I the only one slightly disappointed that the new Spider-Man sets are based on the new TV series and not the ones from the 90s? That show was amazing. Other than that though, they look awesome.

Posted by pstrickler27 in United States, 06 Apr 2012 13:19

@TooMuchLEGO I think we will see different iterations of Spider-man over the next few years (I see this theme continuing much like Star Wars has).. TLG probably wanted to please the kiddies first and foremost - and these characters are going to be relevant to them.. While I am disappointed to see it also, I'm sure a lot of Market Research went into the decision.. I wouldn't worry.. Classic Spidey will make his appearance sooner or later.

Posted by Rockman Xtreme in United States, 06 Apr 2012 13:28

Iron fist, Huw. Not well known, like bluemoose said, But I knew him already! :)

Posted by Zrath in United States, 06 Apr 2012 14:17

Wow, Iron Fist! I used to read his exploits in my brother's Strange magazines, which were French-language Marvel Comics anthologies published once a month in France. Each issue usually had four stories in it, and the default line-up was X-Men, Daredevil, Iron Man, and Spider-Man. Iron Fist replaced the Iron Man stories for a while. I was really young so I don't remember the details of why that was.

Those Avengers robot guys, are they Ultron-7s?

Posted by ndb in United States, 06 Apr 2012 14:41

The Spiderman figures are based off the new USA animated series "ultimate spider man" in which Iron Fist is a major character. Further proof is the cartoon's logo to the left of the minifigs and the doc ock design is obviously from the show. See the Disney xd site if you haven't seen Doc's new look.

Also the show is pretty bad. But it will be worth it if we get Nova and Agent Coulson minifigs out of these.

Posted by spency13 in United States, 06 Apr 2012 14:42

I cannot wait to see what the actual Spidey set looks like! I will be very happy to get a Spidey and an Iron Fist to add to my Marvel collection, but I have to admit that Doc Oc is NOT working for me. But, I know I'll end up buying the set anyway!

Posted by TooMuchLEGO in United States, 06 Apr 2012 15:27

^ Ha, me too. It can be Spider-Man's Dance Party for all I care- I'll buy it.

Posted by youngtom in United States, 06 Apr 2012 15:41

It's the Iron Fist, Huw.

Posted by bruce n h in United States, 06 Apr 2012 15:56

As noted above, Ultimate Spider-Man is the name of an upcoming cartoon series (in the US, presumably it will also be available in other nations), and Iron Fist has been shown as a regular character on that series. Most excitingly (IMO), Dr. Doom will also be in that series, so hopefully we'll get a Dr. Doom fig - second only to Magneto on the all-time list of Marvel baddies (IMO again).

Posted by spency13 in United States, 06 Apr 2012 16:39

@bruce n h, a Dr. Doom would be awesome, but I would rather get him in a Fantastic Four with the Thing and Mr. Fantastic, etc. instead of in a random Spidey set. But that's just me. And TooMuchLego, lol anything for Spidey!

Posted by UtarEmpire in United States, 06 Apr 2012 17:16

It truly baffles me how much Marvel cares about Iron Fist. Shows up in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and now this.

wow love doc Oc

Anybody notice the set number 6768 under Hawkeye is incorrect on the poster?

Posted by sarlacc98 in United Kingdom, 06 Apr 2012 22:49

IMO doc oct's arms are a little to big. Also I agree that the nub is a bit annoying. Also huw the guy is iron fist. I am such a marvel geek.

The green guy is Iron Fist.

Where is Nick Fury? It's been long rumoured that he was coming, and he was in LEGO's recent Avengers movie poster in minifig form (At the very back): http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mK3j474FePg/T3ScjtklUuI/AAAAAAAAAQs/qWm4249S6Gs/s400/Screen%20shot%202012-03-29%20at%201.31.03%20PM.png

I think its ironfist

Posted by TheConverter15 in United Kingdom, 07 Apr 2012 09:52

Definately Iron Fist, so I wonder if they would go on and do Luke Cage, his partner? Though it all depends who really turns up in the new TV series

Posted by COMANDO44 in United States, 07 Apr 2012 18:14

jarolo145 is right i found the charector's picture on wikipedia.

Posted by shootvolio in United States, 07 Apr 2012 21:39

Does it bother anyone else when an official image of minifigures gets an animated appearance? I wish Spider-Man could hold the studded end of a rope with both hands like shown in the picture.

Posted by ndb in United States, 07 Apr 2012 22:10

So everyone knows....

In the cartoon series ultimate Spider-Man...

Nick Fury invites Spider Man to come to S.H.I.E.L.D. so he can train him to become the "ultimate" Spider Man. In the second episode fury teams him up with other teenage heroes including Nova, White Tiger, Iron Fist, and Power Man (A.K.A. Luke Cage) If you have an itunes account (They're free, if you don't) you download the entire first episode for free. It's a great jumping on point for some of you that weren't previously fans of anything Marvel. It pretty much explains everything. Chances are, we'll get more sets based off this series too.

If you want a more mature version of the Marvel Universe, check out Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The first episode of season 2 is available for free on itunes, and it sets up fo the second season. It's a very impressive show and pretty much all of the lego minifigs (With the exception of doc ock and deadpool) will show up at least once in this series.
