Big thanks to Brickset user Maaem for spotting a killer spur of the moment deal at Toys R Us Canada:

BOTH General Grievous Starfighter (8095) and Emperor Palpatines Shuttle (8096) are on for 31.87Can.

Before the Sale they were 69.99 and 79.99 respectfully, making it more then 50% off. My local store never even had sale signs up yet, but the price scanner reflects the sale. Hurry on down for a chance at a great deal staff may not even know about yet.

UPDATE: Sale ended, it appears lack of stock on original sale items spurred Toys R Us to offer other promotions to "fill the   void." Either way this sale is now over.

I visited a few TRU on the weekend and both had different Star Wars sets on half price. All were sold out though.

Looks like I'm going to TRU tomorrow.

I posted this last night in the Forums too. I also added it as a comment to your most recent post about the TRU sale.
How can I post on the news feed myself? I found another deal today at Home Sense and also noticed that Chapters has totally revamped their LEGO shop...

If you find any great lego news please feel free to contact me through Brickset, I will post it if I think its news worthy.I try to read the posts in the forums but that would be a full time job in some cases.

W... T... F... I have a sister who works at TRU yet I'm totally shocked at this information. I'm guessing that since she never told me about those sets that they were either completely not advertised or just updated. I remember her saying that the previous sets (the actual ones advertised in the last flyer) were completely sold out....

I'm clawing my own throat here!!!

Just got mine at TRU in Moncton, they had about 10 in-stock

It was marked at $79.99 on the shelf but scanned-in at $31

I just picked up 8095 at lunch. I overheard an associate talking to another customer that 8095 & 8096 went on sale midweek as they half price sales they had in the flyer sold so quickly that customers were mad and couldn't get a raincheck so they put these to sets onsale as well to apease customers.

Just picked up the Starfighter at the Victoria TRU, thanks for the tip!

Interestingly, my girlfriend noticed that 7869 - Battle for Geonosis was on for $20.87, normally 49.99. Huw, you might want to add this to the header post!

We scanned a bunch of other SW sets and nothing popped up, but I didn't try everything.

I wonder if they're making room for the new Star Wars sets by discounting the older ones.

One other note: The employees also seemed surprised for this sale.

Also: Why is it auto-detecting I'm in the USA...?

While browsing the TRU website I also noticed the mark down on set #7869. Luckily my sister had a shift today so she was able to scan and buy the sets I asked for. I ended up buying Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle and three copies of Battle for Geonosis. After employee discount I ended up spending $90!!!
