    Until recently, this Back To The Future model at Cuusoo has been neck-and-neck votes-wise with the modular Western town we've been promoting heavily.

    Now, as I write, the DeLorean has leapt ahead and now just needs 97 more votes to reach 10,000!

    It's a great model of an iconic vehicle from one of the best movie trilogies ever made so let's see if the Brickset effect can push this to 10,000 overnight. When I get up tomorrow (it's 22:45 here now) I want to see that this has reached the goal.

I would definitely buy these sets if they were made. Imagine expanding the sets to make Marty's house, Townhall, Biff's Casino, etc. Fingers crossed Lego would/are allowed to make them.

I'd love to see Back to the Future sets, but if I'm perfectly honest I think this model of the Delorean is kind of terrible. If LEGO (and Universal Studios) agree to make it, I hope the end product looks much, much different.

^^ like Graysmith said above... I, too, think the sets need some more vetting out to be better. I mostly voted because of this that M. Togami wrote in his appendix:

^ well, it remains to be seen if they can/will get the rights for it. This is what makes IP models on Cuusoo so much more of a challenge. If it's original creation, LEGO just pays the 1%, makes the item, and off they go. With IP items, they have to pay the 1% to the creator, plus some other amount to the IP holder - if they can even get the rights to begin with. Who knows how many people may have to factor into that with BTTF.

I see this as a better probablity of getting to a lego, as the movies are more of the rating for kids (PG/PG-13).

@Dougts: Lego pays 1% of their net profit to the cuusoo model creator, and for items where a license is required, they would just charge more for the retail price to pay for the cost of the license, so I don't know that it really matters that it is a licensed item. In addition, in the cuusoo guidelines, the permit submission of licensed projects, so it is within their guidelines.

Gret Scott, BTTF made it!

In terms of the age of franchise issue, Lego has made themes based on older franchises in the past. Indiana Jones was over 25 years old when its sets came out, and Star Wars was almost just over 20. They both worked as Lego sets quite well (Star Wars is still working). I do, however, understand that new movies were coming out in those franchises when the sets were made. I must say though, that over the past year, BTTF has had a bit of a popularity resurgance, what with the release of the Adventure Games. The BTTF series is a iconic, and is one of the most well-remembered film series of the 80's: If anything over 25 years old has a chance at the Lego market, it's BTTF.

I would happily buy these sets, for I love the movies and thought they were great fun.

BTTF seems to be much more suitable as a set and/or theme than the Winchester Pub (Nice though the Pub was) in terms of TLC's overall attitude.

Why can't a CUUSOO that isn't tied to a license get any love? :( The western town is the closest and that's ground to a clawing, scraping crawl.

I suppose you could say the Japanese ones weren't, but they were specific items that exist, so I tend to lump them in the "unoriginal" camp.

Liscened themes would have a large number of devoted fans that would be willing to vote for the sets.
In the case of wonderful models like the modular western town, one is attempting to gather support from a more general group, instead of a key devoted following. Why people like us who are A/TFOLs who like general themes do not constiture a devoted enough following large enough for sets like the modular western town is beyond me though...

Humorous Comment: Maybe they should add a Clint Eastwood based character into the town and market it as a tie in to the Good the Bad and the Ugly.

This is super exciting to me as I love the Back to the Future films. As a TFOL, I think there's probably enough of a fanbase for BTTF among adults and at least some teenagers or kids who are familiar with the movies; I first saw them when I was a little kid and have loved them since. There's definitely a resurgence of popularity here, especially with Back to the Future: The Game released over the past year or so. The DeLorean alone would be at the top of my list if made, though if LEGO is able to secure rights I could see them making at least a couple of other BTTF sets.

I think the main problem is licensing, or getting the rights to this since it is a licensed product. I feel that like Super Heroes, POTC, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones, this set (or sets) would be popular enough for LEGO to have some incentive to make this happen, should licensing issues be surmountable.

I agree with some of the other posts that if this does happen, LEGO definitely needs to do some overhaul of the model itself to be more movie-accurate, and I'm sure it's possible with some new parts/building techniques and official prints and parts for the figs.

I would love to see BTTF made into LEGO, so hopefully this happens!

I just so happened to be watching a marathon of all three Back to the Future movies when this reached the magic number of supporters, and the project listing inspired me to make my own Delorean time machine last week. I'd be overjoyed if Lego actually made official sets as Back to the Future is my favorite movie/movie series, and the only thing that might make me happier would be combining them with the modular Western buildings...

This is great news because the vehicles and characters are so recognizable. And think about the four awesome time periods these films cover. We could have buildings from 1985, 1955, 2015 and 1885. That is a huge spectrum for modular like buildings. I would even be happy with facades that evoke the time periods. Also imagine a pale blue VW van filled with Lybians.

I had to look it up but, yes, the original came out almost 27 years ago. The 25th anniversary trilogy pack was released towards the end of 2010. I saw all three in the theatre. I'm starting to feel old.

Like a few others pointed out, I think that DeLorean needs some work. I voted and would love to see a modified version of it released but not sure I can see them doing a whole theme. Wouldnt break my heart if they did but it might break some our banks.
