Sopwith Camel and mini Sopwith Camel revealed at AFOLCON

The wifi signal here is awful - hence the lack of news today - but it seems to be working sufficiently well at the moment for me to tell you that the Sopwith Camel was revealed today, along with the mini version which will be a freebie in June/July.

The designer video, featuring Jamie, revealed that the wing flaps operate via lengths of string from the joystick in the control panel, which is very cool. The engine housing is drum lacquered silver which also looks great.

We're trying get a video of the unveiling uploaded but technology is conspiring against us...

Grogall got a much clearer picture of the mini Camel here: http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/comment/74136/#Comment_74136

EDIT: So, the wing flaps work from the cockpit itself? Good grief, that's impressive... :P

*June, not Jule Huw
;)

Edit: Nice set overall, I'm curious of how the functions look on the plane.

The mini one looks cute but I'm not sure of the purpose of the cake on the top of each wing.

I think the 'cakes' are supposed to be the 'country markings' of a round circle with red dot maybe?

Are they going to release the Designer Video to the general public?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 04 May 2012 15:53

I would think so...

I got a June store calendar from a trip to my LEGO store today, and this model/offer is on the top, offered with the $75 purchase from June 1-30 in the U.S. Also the full-size Sopwith Camel set is listed as being released on June 1st.

@mountebank, we all had a good laugh when we read your comment last night! A sticker would have been far more appropriate in this instance, wouldn't it.
