WHAT pieces to you own?

  • WHAT pieces to you own?

Posted by Huw, 12 Jun 2009 13:11. Filed under Brickset.

After I added the feature to give you a total of parts you own some of you still weren't satisfied. You wanted to see exactly what parts you owned. So, now, I offer you the third new feature this week: You can now send your collection to Peeron where you'll be able to see just that. Click on the link in the Export section of your 'My Sets' page for more details and instructions. Be sure to read the notes, too. You should also read information about Peeron's 'My parts' feature.

    I'm good to you guys, aren't I :-)

WOW! Three features in one week! A record! Thanks Huw!

EDIT: I need to register to Peeron to see my parts, but I can't:(! Oh well... Nice feature to those who joined Peeron though!

Huw you are nice.

Thanks Huw! Now I will know what pieces I should have...

This will be helpful.

@Huw: I don't care if I know what pieces I have or not! I'm already happy with Brickset's features! Maybe... how about asking Peeron giving their features even if you are only a Brickset member? Like... a parts list of Brickset members on Peeron, but without registering at their site! Can you do that? You might want to talk to Peeron's webmasters for this!

Who's complaining? And yes, Huw, you are amazing to us.

Posted by Batmaniam in Canada, 12 Jun 2009 16:46

NICE! Lots of things are changing on this site (good things though).

Posted by ARC170Dinofighter in Canada, 12 Jun 2009 17:12

What about the minifigures that aren;t from stes though? You said THAT would be the next feature, and now there's three others!

Posted by starwarsgeek101 in United States, 12 Jun 2009 17:48

I havn't complained yet!

Some of you are never satisfied ! ;-)

Thanks for all the new features Huw; the latest one is a particularly useful one for me :-)

Off topic, but...a good lesson in life: One doesn't always get what one wants, so don't waste time whining, instead just enjoy what you have. :D

Huw, you're on a roll, and clearly having a blast! Rock on, dude!

Sounds cool, I'm gonna try to get a membership there soon.

For those "I guess I don't have that part in blue afterall" moments.

Huw,
You are amazing!!! Thank you for all the great features and dedication to the site. I personally think this is THE BEST lego site out there!! Great work!

Posted by damien in Netherlands, 13 Jun 2009 06:41

Hey Huw,

Fantastic feature; again!!!

all right, we now get to the point we all want. (at least I am). We can make a list of all pieces we own right now. Why not make another feature in which you can put all your pieces, then fill in a setnumber and see if you can build it with the pieces you already own... that would be so cool!!!

Keep up the good work!

Posted by BioFreak877 in United States, 13 Jun 2009 06:44

I don't have a clue what we would do without you, Huw. (Heh, heh, I rhymed!)

Posted by rwars in Canada, 13 Jun 2009 08:21

i like the brick count but when you have 90% of your sets built, the what pieces you own is sort of pointless.

One other thing is this Peeron looks to me a Little unorganized anyway i am quite pleased brick count.

keep up the good work Huw

P.S. a mini fig part inventory i would love hear on brickset,
just to know like how many heads of one kind you have and so on.

Huw this is awesome! Brickset is my organizing Lego Dream. I am such a freak about lists and knowing what I have even when I was little in the '80's before the internet of today I was making my own lists of what I had and what I wanted and ranked them for my family to know what to buy me. Now you make it all so easy. I hate to bring this up and not sure that it belongs here but I do have a request. I have been really enjoying looking at the minifig inventory but wondered if you are going to or can add a "i have" to the minifigs. I have been buy ninjas and other older figs on ebay but not entire sets. I would love to know the ones I have along with all the others. I could simply look at all the sets of that type and then add my figs only to the collection. Not sure if I am the first to ask but wanted to mention it. Again everything you have been doing is just putting brickset over the top and making it the one stop for us all. THANK YOU!
Norm

@nrbenz, thanks for your comments. I am planning on adding an 'I Own' minifig feature; let me see what I can come up with in the next few weeks...

This is excellent! Thanks for this Huw. :)

Posted by skipp in Netherlands, 14 Jun 2009 10:34

This is once again an amazing add-on, and I know you're busy, but I think another great Idea would be to find out how much your collection is worth (somehow works through peeron too.)

Posted by 18000pieces in United States, 14 Jun 2009 10:53

This will probably save my mental health by convincing me that I don't have another one of those engine pieces in white after all, so I can stop looking for it in my room and just buy container heist.

Posted by ChefAgf in Netherlands, 14 Jun 2009 14:34

Damien for your info: peeron has that feature. lookup a set and click try to build. it shows you even what color you dont have and an alternative piece!

Posted by ARC170Dinofighter in Canada, 15 Jun 2009 14:04

Huw, you promised that would be done before any of these three things! What changed?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 16 Jun 2009 15:06

@ARC170Dinofighter, It's my site, I can do as I please :-) I don't recall promising it but I do intend to do it at some point. Please be patient...

Posted by ARC170Dinofighter in Canada, 16 Jun 2009 16:03

LOL. Thanks Huw. You're the best.

Posted by damien in Netherlands, 17 Jun 2009 06:33

ChefAgf: thank for the info! Didn't know it, because I rather like Brickset than Peeron. But I'm sure to check it out soon!

Posted by Greyface in United States, 18 Jun 2009 11:47

@skipp - that's a great idea, though we must consider that not all sets have been bought at a LEGO Shop or on LEGO Shop.com; eBay, garage sales, and other online sites are used too, all of which have different prices. In addition, it would be quite a bother updating a guesstimate at how much old sets are now worth. In addition, TRU has slightly more expensive prices, which would be hard to organize.

@ARC170Dinofighter and Huw - Lets not pressure Huw into anything. He's made an awesome site; its the best I know of out here. Just for maintaining/creating it I'd be happy, even without all the cool features. But if Huw were to create another feature in the next few weeks, my vote would definitely be for the "I Own This Minifig" button". Thanks for all the cool features, Huw!!!

Brickset is one of the best site for both finding a spesific set from a spesific era, or finding a finding a set in a series. And it is becoming the best site for keeping track of your sets too. And these new functions is just great. I have registred my sets on both Lugnet and on Peeron. But this site seems to have been more frequently updated and that is one of the main thing for using it.

But as someone mentioned we never get totaly satisfied ;)
I would also like a field for set value. Not the value like Peeron have done it, but a free input field that gives a total collection value on the "My Set" page. Then I can put the value in my own currency and what I acctually paid for it. Since you allready have made it possible to transfer "my sets" to Peeron you can now find what the marked value of your collection on Peeron, but let us get Brickset a few steps better than the other sites ;)

Peeron is still good as a part tracker and I dont think Brickset should turn into that.

"I own"/"I want" for minfigs will be live next week.

Fonix, I like your idea, let me think about it...
