Posted by yellowcastle, 17 May 2012 10:44. Filed under New sets.

Multiple sites, including toynews-online.biz, are now reporting that the Team GB Minifigures will be released on July 1st.  As with other CMF, they'll be priced at £1.99 each and will be available from the following retailers: John Lewis, Argos, Tesco, WH Smith, Smyths and Toys R Us.

In addition to posting some new "cartoony" images, the sites are also confirming the figure names as Brawny Boxer, The Stealth Swimmer, Relay Runner, Judo Fighter, Tactical Tennis Player, Flexible Gymnast, Wondrous Weightlifter, Horseback Rider, and Agile Archer.

Thanks to Forum users andhe, CCC, LostInTranslation and kymellymel for the news!

I love how they have actually featured the team GB logo! Great figures, too bad not everyone can get them worldwide.

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 11:11

The names are a bit cumbersome. Why not just call them 'Team GB Swimmer' etc. They've also just announced it on their facebook page. Now that's out the way, bring on series 8!

Posted by Gandalf1 in United States, 17 May 2012 11:16

OK, I was a nonbeliever at first, but it seems they're real. But why on earth are they UK only? The Olympics are world-wide!

Posted by Gregorovich in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 11:18

Yay! Very happy about this. I love the Judo, Gymnast and Archer's hair, so they're my favourites. I'll also try to get the runner and Horse rider.

It is a shame they're not available worldwide, as they are very nice. However, seeing as they'll be widely available in the UK (another yay!) I'm sure there'll be plenty of them on Bricklink.

Posted by LostInTranslation in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 11:18

Hey, thanks for the credit! (not sure I really deserve it but hey ho. I takes what I can get. :-)
Really looking forward to getting these figures, glad they are going to be widely available in the UK ... However, really not looking forward to the whining comments from certain members in other parts of the world that this news will inevitably engender...
[Edit - As Gregorovich says, they'll be on Bricklink and I'm sure many UK Bricksetters will help out their overseas friends :-) ]

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 11:19

@gandalf1 Because these are a Team GB license, not Olympic. So it would be a Team GB marketing decision, not a TLG one. Imagine if they sold NBA licensed figs in the UK?... :P

(and thanks for the namecheck).

Excellent! Can't wait! I wonder if the swimmer is Tom Daily.....

Posted by minifignick in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 11:29

I have reserved a few set's with my local lego dealer the other week Looking forward to them

Posted by grandbuilder2001 in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 11:29

YUSSSSSS!!!

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 11:30

LEGO's PR machine doesn't seem to have sent out a press release to LEGO sites yet, so I've asked for one.

Posted by CCC in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 11:52

> Excellent! Can't wait! I wonder if the swimmer is Tom Daily.....

I doubt it, because the Lego one is a swimmer not a diver. Davy doesn't wear a cap. And the Lego one has a gold medal!

I want one complete box ;) If anyone is selling this - let me know ;)

Posted by Redbullgivesuwind in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 12:01

I will be picking up loads so if people need them let me know can do a trade. Feeling smug at the moment.

Posted by LukeSkywalker in Ireland, 17 May 2012 12:27

With those retailers having been confirmed, I'd say it's almost certain that these will be available in Republic of Ireland too, yay! :)

Posted by khmellymel in China, 17 May 2012 12:33

OOO I got a credit? THANKS! Even tho it was spelt wrong, haha, that's totally cool! :D Also, I'm so excited for these!

Posted by rolvtd in United States, 17 May 2012 12:39

I won't complain, seeing as they are labeled exclusive.

I am hoping to trade/buy the only one I actually want, the female Judo minifig, as she reminds me of my favorite Street Fighter character, Makoto (which is a series that would make great minifigs, but not really ideal, kit wise).

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 17 May 2012 12:42

Bricks, they weren't fake... -_-

Posted by Redbullgivesuwind in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 12:51

@Legolas1 Yes I will

Posted by DarthLuke824 in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 13:05

@CCC

Yeah, I agree probably not.

EDIT- I just noticed the Relay Runner has '1948' on him. Just in case you didn't know I'm sure that was the last time the Olympics was on in the UK!

Posted by vpustote in United States, 17 May 2012 13:06

@Redbullgivesuwind, you are probably going to get a lot of offers. But I would really appreciate if you would send me a set too. Of course I would pay whatever extra needed for shipping, taxes, and your trouble.

Posted by DocDanCan in United States, 17 May 2012 13:15

I could use a friend in the UK who would be willing to ship me a set as well! Would be happy to pay for minifigs, shipping, etc. Love these minifigs! (@Redbullgivesuwind, you are going to be very popular very quickly with folks in the States...)

Posted by afol sf in United States, 17 May 2012 13:21

@ Redbullgivesuwind - - - - I, too, would like to request for your assistance in acquiring a complete set of the Team GB Minifigs. Honestly, I don't know whom to turn to at this point. I would gladly pay for it plus corresponding shipping cost if you're able to help out a fellow AFOL from across the pond. So if you have any extras of the nine minifigs, that is all I ask for. I prefer open ones as these will be displayed with the rest of the minifig series. Hope you can help. - AFOL SF

Posted by Redbullgivesuwind in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 13:54

Above posts yeah no problem in getting those out. I would wait until these are released and then I can get shipping cost and let people know. There is chat in the forum of setting up a trade point so to save on shipping it will go to them and then be sent out from their. If your interested drop me or one of the others in the uk a line.

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 17 May 2012 14:01

Let's hope that all the UK Bricklinkers make these available in large quantities to help provide an ample supply for the world market. Perhaps they will become available through Amazon.uk for reasonable prices.

Posted by Redbullgivesuwind in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 14:18

If you want to place an order from me email iwantagblegominifig@gmail.com

Posted by richardh in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 14:21

I will also be picking up a few boxes and will be happy to sell or trade. E mail:
ric@houghton10.fsnet.co.uk

Posted by Kez in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 14:30

I will also be picking up a box so I'm happy to trade to those across the pond, I will probably put them on eBay at a decent price

Posted by afol sf in United States, 17 May 2012 14:41

@ Redbullgivesuwind - - - my e-mail to you was returned undeliverable. Please check your gmail account... Thanks!

Posted by Renegade007cjh in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 14:58

I'm expecting to have some of these as surplus and am looking for a new Adult Lego fan in the States to do some trades with. Always on the hunt for US-exclusive polybagged sets, so drop me a message and let me know what you've got to swap and / or how many (and which) of the Team GB figures you're after.

Posted by ben30024 in United States, 17 May 2012 15:32

so, will these be availible in the states?

Posted by Legozrool in United States, 17 May 2012 16:03

^
^ No they will not be available in the u.s. :(:(

Posted by Zackula in United States, 17 May 2012 16:11

It says available from TRU, so there might be a chance they will ship these to the states, or at least have a glitch in the system that allows them to be shipped stateside.

Posted by thundergoat in United States, 17 May 2012 16:12

I would like to get a complete set for this also. Anyone can send one to the States send me a quote :) Thanks!

Posted by KillDeer in Canada, 17 May 2012 16:13

Whats the packaging going to be like? Will they be blind packs like collectable minifigs or polybags?

Posted by mrwhizzard in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 16:40

Yes they will be blind packs a la cmf series 1 - 7.

Posted by Gandalf1 in United States, 17 May 2012 16:45

So maybe the next time the U.S. has the Opympics, we'll get Team U.S.A. minifigures. These are very cool, though.

@mrwhizzard: They ARE collectible minifigures basically. They're just Team GB themed.

EDIT: Off-topic: Huw, I hate to bug you, (I'm going to anyway, though :D) but you should change the Collectable minifigures icon to the S7 hippie picture instead of the Statue of liberty. S6 is SO 4 months ago! :-)

Posted by CCC in United Kingdom, 17 May 2012 18:19

I will be getting lots of them too for trading. If anyone wants to trade, they can come to the marketplace board in the brickset forums.

Posted by Thomson & Thompson in Canada, 17 May 2012 18:20

So no NA market? Or just the US and not Canada? Or are we all getting them?

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 17 May 2012 19:18

I think it sucks these are only available in the UK. They're gorgeous!

Posted by dcoe in United States, 17 May 2012 19:59

Does anyone know how many come in a box?

Posted by hulkvic in Italy, 17 May 2012 21:04

No possibility to have it via lego S&H? :( I want all minifigures of this series, but i'm in Italy, how can have it?!??! :((

Posted by KillDeer in Canada, 17 May 2012 21:50

Oh no, I was going to have my non-lego buddy in the UK go to a shop and get me the Judo girl but if they're blind pick 0___0

Posted by Be-Burger in Israel, 18 May 2012 02:06

Anyone think that they could pick up a couple for me? Those are so cool... I especially like the archer and the guy with the spikey dark brown hair.

Posted by MinifiguresPlus.com in United States, 18 May 2012 03:13

Yeah, hey, let me know when you get them. I'd be glad to buy some boxes if anybody can get some at a decent price.

More specifically I'll buy as many as I can get and retail price is good unless anyone else can beat it.

Posted by CCC in United Kingdom, 18 May 2012 04:30

They are a UK exclusive because they are Team GB.

I'm happy enough to get one set and trade or sell at cost price plus shipping costs with anyone that cannot get them in their country. But only for people that request them on the Marketplace board in the forums. I won't do more than one per person without profit for me though. If you are going to sell them for profit, then I should make profit too.

Posted by octick in United States, 18 May 2012 09:28

@Redbullgivesuwind, @richardh, @kez, @CCC, @Renegade007cjh, I'm in the US and interested in buying or trading. I would want at least one complete set. Even buy a box if possible. If you would like to trade, let me know what you are looking for. If you are willing to pick up a set and sell, please let me know price with shipping. I appreciate it.

Posted by spency13 in United States, 18 May 2012 10:01

Can we please at least get versions of all these figs in future CMF Series for all of us in the US?? So it can be moderately fair?

Posted by carding in United Kingdom, 18 May 2012 18:21

team GB? I would of thought team denmark considering that this is Lego. Still not complaining they look cool come on team GB.

Posted by Town in United States, 18 May 2012 21:08

Can't tell how cool minifigs actually are anymore because of the CG poses.

Posted by The_Creator in United States, 19 May 2012 01:15

I'm still not really thrilled by these minifigs and I think TLG missed a good opportunity to make a new bow.

Posted by aquafreak125 in United Kingdom, 19 May 2012 12:22

I saw on this on the Lego facebook page, this is great! Planning to pick up 7 of these, the only ones that I'm not moderately interested in are the Archer and Judo Fighter. If anyone who can't pick these up wants them, contact me and I'll try my best to get some for you for trade or sale :-)

Posted by legan in Netherlands, 19 May 2012 17:24
